About Me
A long-time senior writer for B.A.S.S. Publications, Robert U. Montgomery has been hooked since he first went fishing on a Cub Scouts outing. His degree in journalism from the University of Missouri helped him turn his passion into a career as a fishing writer.
He's fished for bass with the best anglers, guides, and pros across the U.S., as well as in Canada and Mexico; and, in doing so, collected a wealth of insider information he shares with readers in Kickin' Bass. Robert also reveals what he learned from his own decades of angling experience, including catching and releasing more than a dozen 10-pound largemouth bass.
Montgomery is the author of two other fishing books: Better Bass Fishing and Why We Fish. He also has written about nature, rescue dogs, and nostalgia in Fish, Frogs and Fireflies Pippa's Journey, and Under the Bed.
The Missouri native is winner of the prestigious Homer Circle Fishing Communicator Award
"Many go fishing all their lives without knowing that it is not fish they are after." - Henry David Thoreau
The best answer that I've found: “The charm of fishing is that it is the pursuit of what is elusive but attainable, a perpetual series of occasions for hope.” From Scottish author John Buchan
