I've tried the new rapala scatter rap (shallow) and caught a few. Though do wonder. Not the quantity I would like. I've tried different retrieves. It seem to produce better when I used it like a jerk bait. Small constant twitches over structure ....a continually retrieve I never had a strike with it.... I also tried one of the new higher quality wake baits. Did not like it. Did not have a strike on it. See it as a real specific set of conditions bait. Where most often either a buzzbait up top or a shallow crank or swimbait would work better.

Next season I want to look at fishing some finesse worms - What is the best set up for doing such - Spinning reel I assume. Do people mainly use a shaky head type set up (jig head type set up). Do they work well T-rigged? What about just simple off-set worm hook style? Line? Mono- Flouro or braid? I've become a big fan of Power Pro braid (have it on my spinning reels, but am thinking about going to floro next season....perhaps I'm missing bites with braid...even though the Power Pro moss green dia seems so small and the lack of any line memory I just love). THanks for any all advice.

I have not been able to get out nearly as much as I wanted this past summer / Fall fishing. Lately I've been out trying to locate the shad. I thought for sure I would have not missed them heading back into the creeks / coves. Yet, my main lake. Water is down to 55-59 range and zero shad I'm finding in creeks / coves. All seem to be on main lake channel. Have they likely already been to the creeks and back out by now??

I'm in WNC, on not a large or small lake (Around 600 acres). Lots of standing timber. In spring/summer I have confidence on this lake with buzzbaits. However, past 3 trips have not got much off them when looking to put in boat a bigger fish. This lake has quality size bass (6-10 pound range). Just curious, do others have confidence when throwing a buzzbait in water under 58. Today just seemed perfect for it. Full cloud cover...but nothing.

Curious. What do others throw the Rapala Scatter Rap Shad type lure with. Size 3/16 or 1/4 oz. Went out today and just didn't like the control using my Johnny Morris baitcaster and MH pole. (Would a medium action pole be a better fit). I switched to my spinning reel and did okay.....but like throwing my baitcasters more often. Just curious. Is the smaller non deep diving CB just not a good fit for BC reels. Or will simply going to a med - med/light pole make the difference for me. Thanks much!

Thank you all for advice! I plan to likely use the Rage Tail Craw or Rage Tail Lobster - Also the Havoc Pit Boss - With tugsten weight. Looked at the Owner style hooks. Look great. There is a great variety there to choose from. The ROUND BEND, WIDE GAP and 90° JIG HOOK both look very nice. Think I'd start with the more standard round bend 90 Jig Hook...

I want to learn to flip and pitch this up coming season. Question about hooks? Is it best to use a EWG hook? Or other type? I purchased some extra firm "flippin" hooks from BPS but these are not EWG. Will be using jigs but also want to try some T-Rig creature baits and this is where I'm not sure on best style / type of hook. Thanks.

Which do you perfer using a hard jerkbait (like KVD or bomber jerkbait) or a soft jerkbait (Fluke). Just curious what most use - Or use one more so than others when water cools (hard jerkbaits in Fall / Winter). Thanks
