I am looking foward to buying myself a baitcaster combo for christmas(for now I use spinning reels).So for know I use another combo for practise,and I've already mastered how to hold a baitcaster.The only problem is how do I feather the line off the spool when casting.It kind of mystifies me how the pros are able to cast far,but still keep their thumb on the line.So I'm wondering how do you guys''feather'' the line off the spool and still get it very far.If I can master this,I can finally be comfortable buying such an expensive combo and at least know how to use it properly.

I live in NY but I do most of my fishing in NJ.But I have tried out one lake in NY(Van Courtlandt park lake) .I threw a cheap,white "no name" brand spinnerbait and I caught 2 nice sized bass in only a few minutes of each other.One of them being my biggest yet,even though it popped off when I was trying to get it with the lure still in its mouth(I hopes it's still OK).And even in Roosevelt Park Lake,I threw a 5 in watermelon senko and caught a nice sized bass I didn't even know was on ! So even though they are not as good as fishing on a bass boat on a lake the size of an ocean.But it's good to try out your local ponds and lakes sometime in the future just to see how the fishing is.And I look foward to going to some more lakes in NY and NJ in the future especially in the spawn.

I really didn't see any go into the actual reel just some of it on the handle,but I will open it up jus to be sure.And thanks for the advice guys but I really don't drink soda often.But it's still something you should try to avoid sometimes.

I washed my reels in freshwater right after some spilled on it,do I still need to do it or do need to re-lube it and how do you re-lube it?

This my first post on this forum.And I wanted to ask you guys something.I had just brought these two nice spinning reels and soda kind of spilled on them.I rinsed them off and I was wondering would the soda destroy or damage the reel.And if it does,what would I have to do to repair it.Let me know as soon as possible.
