  1. Take everything. Born and raised in Deland. Spent a lot of time fishing from a kayak down there. Great fish to be had. Enjoy your stay, man.
  2. Now that's a solid introduction. I'm pretty new to BR as well here, though I've been getting information from here for quite some time. Great pictures. I love the look of that pond. I'm always looking for some good sized ponds to fish and here in Florida, we got a lot of them that not many people know about (with some great bass). I usually go by myself on my kayak so I rarely get pictures, but I catch 'em all the same. Good fishing to you.
  3. This is as relevant a topic on fishing as I've heard. The biggest fishing drought I've had in recent memory was all of a couple weeks. Unlike most, I didn't move to new waters. I gave the bass every lure and every presentation I knew and fished at different times of day till I frustrated myself. Just don't keep throwing the same thing at 'em and sooner than later, they start biting. Coming out of a slump with a couple nice fish is very satisfying.
  4. I would have to agree completely with JD. I'm brand new to this forum, but as a kayak fisherman in central Fl, I figured I should chime in here. Although some people think it's dangerous, I have never had a problem with gators. I often fish from a kayak on secluded ponds and small lakes and from the bank at a couple areas known for having gators. And yes, I have also waded in on many occasions. I have a healthy respect for gators but I also know that it is not necessarily dangerous to fish with them. To be sure, I steer away from a gator when I see one. But they're not out on a hunt for you. However, they will often try to steal your fish so, so if you see one close by, reel in quickly. Seriously, without disturbance in the water, they aren't even interested. Get to know gators like you know the bass, know the waters you are fishing, and use good judgment and you should be fine.
