  1. That's what happens when people flush their bettas down the toilet.....
  2. I just went through all of this when I upgraded boats. My new boat is much heavier than my old and my 2000 Lexus RX300 was struggling up hills with it and at the ramp. I did tons of homework and found the best bang for the buck, with a decent tow capacity is the Jeep Grand Cherokee. I like an SUV for the enclosed space and most of these, even with a 6 cyl, have a 5000 capacity. My son already has one and I've used it a few times and it tows great. You can find a nice clean used one in the $8-10k area. I ended up not having to worry about it as I got a promotion at work which included a new 1500 Silverado 4x4 but that's neither here nor there ?
  3. This happened to me too. We were going down a bank, both throwing white soft jerks and my buddy broke off on one. Jokingly, I said, "Don't worry, I'll get him" and threw at the same stump. I caught that fish with my buddy's hook and bait still stuck to his face Didn't we laugh!
  4. I'd definitely have a green pumpkin senko rigged and just wait for a blowup, then fire at it. And this^^^
  5. First off, some days chickens; some days feathers. 2 Sundays ago, I tore em up on a Pad Crasher. Went back the following Sunday, threw the crasher for an hour, couldn't buy a bite. Picked up a buzzbait and couldn't keep em off of it. I kept trying the frog; I'd throw it for 3-4 casts, nothing. I'd pick up the buzzbait and wear em out. It only took about 3 of those scenarios to not touch the frog rod again. Second, I've seen what you're describing and they are jumping at dragon flies (at least in my case they were). What my buddy figured out that day was he would wait, with senko rod in hand, for one to jump. Then he'd fire to that spot and catch em every time.
  6. The guy in the weighted down john boat, was his name Scott Peterson??
  7. It does not need to be an actual trail cam so this is a great idea! Thank you; I'll look into both of those brands
  8. I have a few deer come through my yard at different hours of the day. I wanted to get a trail cam to capture some pics and have them sent to my phone but as I looked into this, I'm discovering there are monthly fees to do this?? For real? You have to pay someone to have the pics sent from one item to another these days? Any trail cams that don't have fees out there?
  9. Yes, the shadows are key. As far as the no bite, they're either finicky bass, non active bass or not bass.
  10. They sure look like fish to me. I like to have sonar running side by side with the Si; or go back over the area in sonar only. If there's clear arches, then it assures me they're fish. What kind of fish can be hard to tell
  11. Wow, this bring me back a ton of years. My Grandparents had a home in Cotuit and we used to fish Middle, Mystic and Hamblin quite often when I was a whippersnapper. We always seined up live minnows and I don't know how these lakes are now so I won't be much help.
  12. Had a decent topwater bite going last Sunday. Only caught around 20 but 2 were decent ones. Smaller one was 5-3 and the larger one was 6-5. An interesting thing I noticed was those 2 bigger fish had the smallest, most subtle bite of them all.
  13. I run braid/fluoro on all my setups too; I keep the leader rod length so that doesn't happen. Even in crystal clear water, a 6' leader is long enough. They're paying attention to the bait, not line that's 6' from the bait. If you must have 20', you could try the blood knot seen here: https://www.animatedknots.com/blood-knot
  14. Spinnerbaits can be tough but they get bit
  15. 3/8 oz blk/blu bladed jig with your choice of matching color trailer (firecraw may be good too) 7' M Baitcaster, 20lb braid to 12-15lb fluoro leader I'm throwing this due to poor water clarity; good thump from those baits. Second choice is a lipless crank in various colors (red, citrus or chrome) But for 1 bait I still choose my first mentioned
  16. If you've caught a 6, I'd bet you dinner for a week that there's an 8 in there somewhere. That said, Wis record is 11-3; not saying there's one of those in there though.
  17. I don't even keep my seats in the boat. I Ike all over the place and like the open room on the deck.
  18. I agree with most of the above; ---clogged carb port ---bad fuel pump ---bad primer bulb You mentioned it has sat for a while with not much use. I'd throw a fuel pump at it as it never hurts to have a fresh pump; most engines are cheap and easy. I'd do the primer bulb while you're at it. Then reassess
  19. Thank you for confirming that for me guys
  20. That's my answer^^^ Thank you brother
  21. So after a little research, it looks like Mercury DFI oil is gold/brown. He was probably using this oil. I'm also reading this is much more expensive than the typical blue TCW oil. I don't mind using this DFI oil if it's better for my engine. Thoughts?
  22. I just brought home a new-to-me 2012 Stratos 189VLO. 150hp 2 cycle Pro XS. I wanted to run it in my driveway so I'm looking it over, was going to fill the oil reservoir and noticed the oil in it from the last owner is brown in color. Looked clean, just brown. In my old Nitro, I always used Pennzoil and it's a blue color. Should I be concerned? Can different brands be different colors? Almost every brand of 2 cycle oil I have ever seen has been blue. And lastly, if this is normal, can I mix my Pennzoil with this brown oil?
  23. I can't get Denny Brauer's voice out of my head
  24. ^^^Absolutely. Different eyes see different colors and shadows differently. What I like, you may not. Also, different sun/light conditions will show different color pallets better than others. Really have to get out on the water and play with it.
