  1. My son and I hit Johson park Sunday morning for a few hours. Started by the bridge on the lake with the fountains. No luck there so went to the lake in the NE corner behind the basball fields. Couple other guys fishing the banks but didn't see anything come out. On the way back to the truck he tossed his line in the small lake adjacent to the baseball field and immediately hooked about a 1.5lb'r. We fished it for another half hour with no luck but at least he had one to tell his mother about.
  2. Have not tried Johnson Park lately, but he daycare pond has not produced much in the last couple of weeks.
  3. Thanks. I'll have to admit it's a little scary paddling thru traffic. Not to mention the wake from some of the boats will beat you to death.
  4. We stay mostly in and around the coves but I've ventured out into the main channel a few times. It's not terrible and the boat's plenty sturdy, just more of a workout, especially if it's windy. I can go far enough out to hit the ledges going into the channel. Drop an anchor down and you're gtg. Smaller lakes like Herb Parsons and Big Hill Pond are perfect. You can get around the entire lake and don't have to fight the waves or the boat traffic you see on the bigger lakes.
  5. Made a trip up to the mother-in-laws cabin on KY lake this weekend and was able to get the kayaks out for the first time for a couple hours. Caught this one after about an hour of scouting out a little cove off the main channel. I added a fishfinder to the kayak to help with depth and looking for cover. Hope this is a sign of things to come. Ticked my son off to no end .

  7. Check the reloading forums at snipershide.com. A lot of guys use the 223AI as a training platform for their heavier bolt guns. Here's a link for the AI load data. http://forum.snipershide.com/snipers-hide-reloading-depot/660-data-all-cals-ackley-imp.html
  8. Good idea on the trash bags. I'll have to put a couple in the truck. We stayed on the southeast corner for most of the time. The way the wind was blowing I figures that little runoff area was as good a plase as any to start. Is there any of cover to speak of around the rest of the pond? The only thing I say was a few areas of grass coming up 1-2' from the bank in a few places.
  9. My son and I went to the day care pond Saturday afternoon between the basketball games. He caught two 1lb'rs on a small silver shad swimbait and I saw another guy come up as we were packing up and grab a small one with a chartreuse spinnerbait. Nice little pond. Will have to try it again this week.
  10. I hit Johnson Park for a little while yesterday afternoon. Didn't have any luck but was good to get out and test a few setups. We're heading to KY lake in a couple weeks and I'm looking forward to breaking the kayak out of storage. May have to give the Day care pond a try in a couple days.
  11. Just pulled JP up on google maps. Never realized there was a much larger pond behind the northwest corner of the park. Looks like the only access is by the paved trail JDJ was talking about. Anyone walked back and given it a try?
  12. I've only fished the two ponds to the right of the ball fields. Caught some 1-2lbers between the wooden bridge and the fountain last week. I've also had a little luck on either side of the paved bridge, right next to the soccer fields, but it's been quite awhile since I've fished that area. Never fished the large rectangular lake on the far west side of the park, closest to Wolf River Blvd.
  13. Add Johnson Park in Collierville.
  14. I'm jealous of you then. I have some family up in Knoxville and don't get up there enough. Great area of the country to live in.
  15. My daughter's 15 so getting her to spend time with us means we're just taking her and her friends somewhere. My son's a little better but his patience can be a little on the short side. If I can get him on the fish he'll sit out there all day.
