  1. so you think i could pull off just one night out of a 10 ft sit on top kayak?
  2. So ive been looking at getting a kayak primarily for fishing. I've been eyeing the Ascend f10t because it is inexpensive and more portable than a 12 footer, but would i be able to keep a small tent, sleeping bag, other small camp necessities, and still have enough room and storage to fish?.. worst case scenario i just have to camp near my truck, but i would like to have the option to float a river over two days or something along those lines.. Kind of general but i was just wondering if anybody had any thoughts, suggestion, or anything helpful regarding my idea? All info is useful and appreciated, thanks!
  3. I've been landlocked for my entire fishing experience and i really want to get out on the water, i live on a small pond and some parts aren't accessible without chiggers and poison ivy, I also want to make it out to some other ponds and maybe even a lake when it starts to warm up. I have a good amount of free money to bass pro from a drawing and i want to try and buy a kayak from there simply because it would be free. Im 140 lbs and about 5'10" and i want something i can load fairly easily and that is sturdy in the water. I understand that getting into a kayak before buying is very necessary, but i want to have a general idea of what i want to look at when i go to try some kayaks out. I've been eyeing the ascend d10t, its fairly affordable and would be easier to load than its bigger brother the fs12 but how much would i really be losing in 2 feet of kayak? Honestly just looking for advice on kayaks specifically, accessories and pfd's will be looked at in another thread. Any advice on what I should look at would be greatly appreciated! Thanks!
  4. thanks for the input, would definitely not want to break my yak
  5. im looking at getting a jon boat and a kayak soon but for now im planted on the ground too my friend, these last weekends i caught a 7 pounder and a 9 pounder.. im not saying this to brag as much as i am saying just keep working an area no matter how many fish you dont catch. if you know that a place doesnt have fish thats a little different obviously. I live on two 10x2 square acre ponds and i have known there are fish in them for a long time but until this year i havent figured them out. shore fishing is something that you become better at exponentially. hope this helped and i think a shore fishing thread would help too catch some big ones and get back to us man! -James
  6. Thats awesome! Let me know how you like it! And I dont have rails or rear windows to run straps through so could I still strap it down without scratching my paint?
  7. so if anyone has any advice on where to find a rack or a search engine that would be appreciated too
  8. two door tahoe, so ive got the power to tow, need to look into roof rack though
  9. thanks for the advice! will definitely look into it!
  10. I've been looking into getting a kayak for days when I want to reach those places I cant from the shore and even maybe take to a lake or another pond, looking for advice on specific kayaks, type of kayaks, kayaking tips, and more specifically what i shouldn't do on big lakes if even go to them at all. (a trailer with the kayak would be best and i want to try to keep the price under $500 if possible.) Any advice or tips would be greatly appreciated! Thanks!
  11. I live just outside of the city in the DFW area and I was wondering if anyone had any advice on lakes within an hour or so of Fort Worth or Denton? i do shore fishing primarily but my family is looking at buying a joe boat and I myself am looking at getting a kayak with a trailer before it starts warming up next year! So lakes or ponds that have good spots relatively close to launch points and even lakes would be fantastic. I have looked at a couple of forum maps but after going to look for a non-existent pond that was on the map I kind of lost faith in them.. Any advice or current and good maps are greatly appreciated!
  12. Good hog from today, no scale but im thinking 6 lbs? Guestimates are appreciated
  13. ok so ive narrowed it down to the abu revo s and the pfluefer supreme xt.. haha thanks so much to everyone who left their input, this is an awesome forum P.S. input on these two is still appreciated
