I really like Connell, but tuned out competitive content awhile back. Is he still doing the "ding" thing? I've started watching coverage again, and I'm shocked by how drastically the tournament landscape changed in a year. MLF doesn't suck. BASS is a sshow. NPFL is old school. High-school drama is everywhere. Connell's comments on negativity are great to hear. I hope that can start resonating in the competitive world and get everything back on track.

I have 3 lowriders, a Christie, a Cara, and an old, brown 6'6" no idea the model name. All are from when they were made in the USA and are great rods. I don't use them as my main rods, but they are really good.

I replaced the spool bearings with full ceramics in all my Shimano 71s years ago. They normally are available on ebay, come direct from China, and are inexpensive. I had to learn to manage the speed on my casts and get good with feathering because it is easy to overpower your bait and wind can pull more line since the spool spins so easy. I think the best thing about them is that I can cast farther with less effort and can also go to weightless baits when I need to. They give me versatility without thinking about my rod/reel pairings.

I have the 7'2" ML casting rod for super light stuff. Yes, it is not the same as a spinning rod, but I don't like anything above 1/4 ounce on it and I usually don't throw anything over 3/16. No idea of this is helpful.

He'll be alright no matter what he does. Just sad to see BASS stumble.

BASS knew about Cox fishing this event at the beginning of the season and should have made a ruling then. Leaving it til after he fishes the event and letting it create division amongst the anglers is poor leadership. I think he should be disquailified per the rules, but BASS dropped the ball letting it get to this point.

The bearings you need to think about for casting are the bearings that the spool axle ride on. Figure out the size of those, order full ceramics off ebay, and replace the stock bearings. They won't fix a dumpster fire, but they will do wonders for any mid-range reel and up. Ceramics are super light and they take very little energy to get them going so you can use really light baits. They also don't rust so you can run them bone dry which helps because they grease/oil isn't fighting the bearing's momentum. Thay also sound cool like glass packs in a '93 Mustang.

I've found that a weightless jerk shad works too. Especially when you see schooling bass going crazy on top water.

FG for sure. It is small and strong. Kind of a pain to learn, but it is worth the time. I use 40# PP braid on most of my baitcasters with flouro leaders anywhere from 15# to 25#. I have a few with 60# and sometimes tie on a 25# leader, but usually just run straight braid on those. My spin rods are 15# and 20# braid and I use 15# Yo-Zuri Hybrid or 15# flouro. The knot is completely solid. Some of my rods have a rod-length leader while others have double that. A few have 30+ yard leaders because of the baits I am throwing. One thing to remember is the flouro can hinge a bit at the base of the flouro where it meets the braid. If you run that line for awhile it can get weak and break just after the knot.

Of all the boards I do/have visit/ed this is definitely the best moderated. Thanks to all the mods and Glenn for doing such a good job.

I forgot the date of the Classic. Was amazed when I pulled my head out and checked the schedule--Classic and two more events then the '21 season is over! I'd love to be there. Hope everyone who goes has a safe and fun trip!

I've never been aggressively hassled. People do like to talk to me when I'm fishing for some reason. There must be a giant, flashing, neon sign above my head that says "TALK TO THIS GUY!!! HE DOESN'T WANT TO BE LEFT ALONE!!!" that I can't see. I have been kicked out of a couple ponds in office parks by security guards in the past, but I grew up skateboarding so that's not a big deal for me.

Light punching rig - stopper, 3/8 or 1/4 weight, punch skirt, 4/0 straight shank hook, and craw or swim bait - I like this because it's versatile like a jig, but it is less likely to hangup on wood or rocks. Weightless T-rig stick bait Light weight T-rig trick worm

I like Power Pro Maxquatro. A bit more money, but I like how thin it is for the strength and you get a lot more line on your spool so it lasts longer after reties. Regular PP is good too in my experience. All the other braids I have used had issues.

It changes during the year, but I always have a weightless watermelon red stick bait and a 3/8 ounce black/blue jig w/ a green/blue craw trailer. I live in SW FL so...there is not much difference between winter and summer. During our short "spring" I like a 3" white/chartreuse swimbait.

I haven't done anything special to my Bonafide SS127. Probably the most elaborate thing is I have 2 anchors (bow and stern) so I don't drift around in the wind and a stake/push pole for shallow water. Other than that I have a box w/ 3 rod holders and one of those lip grippers tethered to the seat so I can secure a fish in the water after I unhook it.
