  1. Had A cool front come thru up here in Jersey Friday night. Went fishing in the morning (Had this planned the whole week) to a new to me lake, but the temps were in the high 50s to low 60's, and cloudy, so I was like this is gonna be interestng. Get to the lake and see pads around the perimeter (awesome froggy time so I thought), and milfoil about 2 feet below the surface. Visibility about 1' and a half to 2' half. So as you guessed started with the hollow frog thru the pads, aaaaaand nothing for about an hour going around this place and hitting the pad field . Then I decided to go with a couple of cranks and whack the tops of the submerged millfoil with a Bluegill KVD 1.5, and a Perch of the same brand and size, aaaaand nothing . Continued on to a couple of Spinner baits of different colors and blades, aaaaaand nothing . After all this I was pretty much convinced that lock jaw had set in because of the cool front that passed thru. So me like every other bass angler said let me try one more thing before I head home . So then I decided to go with something I haven't used before, in a color I never used before... A ZOOM 10" Ol' Monster in Plum with the tail end dipped in Chartruese JJ's Magic, weightless Texas rig on a 3/0 wide gap red worm hook. First cast let her sink shake, shake crank and repeat. Then there was a tap, tap, hook set, and this: A nice 2lber The Ol' Monster had a tore up head so I just snipped it back an 1/2", and continued casting it. Had another strike, set the hook and it let go, and came back with a 5" plum colored senko because the tail got tore off from that bite. Put on a new one with the same JJ dip on the tail, but ended only getting a few sunny bites. So ended up leaving after that. On my way home not to far from the spot I left I found another lake hidden behind some baseball fields and woods I had caught a glimpse of it thru the tree openings as I was driving by. So I turned around, and ended trying there. Took out the the ZOOM Ol' Monster rod, made a couple of casts aaand caught this little guy: Not a fatty, but I'll take it on a slow day like yesterday. I tell you what, I'm startin to dig the Zoom Ol' Monster. Gonna have to stock up 'cause I only have one bag.
  2. What I have done and works pretty decent, I'll put th water bottle in one of the side pockets and zip it closed a little so the bottle stays put.
  3. During a storm I usually fish a frog thru the pads because that's where the fish are under when they don't want to get wet.... ....its probably better when it gets cloudy on a hot mid summer day. It cools things down, and the bass will either come shallower from the depths or q wander out more from cover.
  4. This is what I have, and it comes with 3 3500 size boxes. I added an 3500 spinner bait box and 2 3500 Plano skinny boxes., and I still have room for plastics, leader. Gets a little heavy, but like the op said I put it down when I get to a spot. Once I find out what really works for me I'll lighten it up.
  5. I'm definitely gonna have to try this, at least once.
  6. Somebody should teach these guys about protection, or use a little soap and water once in awhile.
  7. I should try this spot at night, maybe the big girls will be out then. It was kind of hot around the time I caught this guy. There's a few more lakes around that area I'm gonna have to check out.
  8. With all the money he spent on that get up He could have bought a Kayak with a fish finder.
  9. Caught him in this, Caught him with a Booyah Pad Crasher Bullfrog on the third cast. Ain't a biggn', but somebody had to be first. Surprisingly he was the only one to bite. Nothing else hit after. I couldn't lip him because he had one hook going thru his lower and upper lip, so I had to grab him around the waist... oh so gently (as the the Everly Brothers were playing in the background) This is the same place I went to in the Spring, and the dude next to me caught a 5 lber on a Booyah Pad Crasher. That was one of the reasons I bought the Pad Crashers after I saw that. I did catch 2 pickeral on a Zoom Horney Toad that day.
  10. DSG just sent me 20 bucks to spend online or at the store ... I just lost my baby bass Scatter Rap... Maybe get a bluegill Scatter Rap also
  11. And that race car happened to be a Cobra?
  12. Same with me at the Franklin Lakes Nature Preserve. Can't buy a bite, but my three year old son no problem kills it.
  13. I think I've seen some here in Jersey also, I think I've seen them chase my crank bait at one of the resis I was at, but the majority of the forage are pan fish.
  14. Imagine putting rubbing alcohol on your leathery cheerio... Ouch, Yikes, no thanks mister.
  15. I think I just gave up bank fishing... I had an infestation once in my bedroom when I lived in Miami. Saw a few ticks on my walls and in the popcorn ceiling, went to look under my bed where we stored some bedding, thousands of them fat blood engorged females, little males, and eggs everywhere. My dog had brought them into the apartment. Chucked everything out the second floor window, and set of like six Raid bombs... That did the trick. Felt itchy for a week after that. A buddy of mine told me a story when he was younger and he was out hunting, the next day he found out he had a tick on his leathery cheerio or butt hole as some of you call it. To make it worse he had to go to the doctor so he could get it removed.... that would of been a great Instagram photo.
  16. How do you fan them, and how do you make it stay.
  17. I thought your breakthrough would of been, "Holy $#!7 I can make killing if I sold my awesome CUSTOM JIGS FOR STICKING PIGS!!"
  18. I just ordered three colors the other day.
  19. Oh man, you're screwed.
  20. That reminds me, need to place an order soon.
  21. My moment was a few weeks ago when I was at a lake in Upstate NY and actually got to fish from a floating apparatus (12' Jon Boat with oars). I started fishing stumps in depths from 2' to 6' (guesstimate) and laydowns. That's when figured out what a bite felt like on the fall, and on the pick up, and how important these types of cover are to catching bass and bassfishing... from then on I was unstoppable that day.
  22. I have had success recently with laydowns and stumps.
  23. I use a plain ol' VMC 1/0 Octo hook with no frills just hook it into the bait past the egg sack, toss the line, see if it moves or has pressure, then reel in and pull up.
  24. If you're not sure, get some JJ's and color your own ;-)
