  1. Freaked me the hell out. I've seen something similar here in New Jersey. Last weekend I've seen a few Blue gill, and a bass with some kind of growth on their side near the gill plate with that same coloration, and they seem to be lethargic. This was in 2 different bodies of water. We did have some low water levels last year, but are back up to par this year.
  2. How a do I take one, and how do i get the distance bars on the SI. Thanks
  3. Attach about 4ft of chain folded to 2ft, and attach that to the anchor. It will make the anchor lay over and when you drift the anchor will grab the bottom or whatever. That's what I have with my 3lb grapple anchor. I also use a stake or pole, and a clamp to attach to stumps and weeds.
  4. Not everybody's got a $13,000 boat, and a $500 rod and reel. .20 less for an extra bait, you do the math. Sounds like a win to me. Even if it was the same price it's still a win.
  5. Well, had a better day yesterday even though it was just one, but I think the weather had something to do with it...also the only one that bit. It's definitely bigger than the one from my last outing, and it's my first bladed jig fish. Caught him on a Black and Blue Zman original Chatter Bait with a green pumpkin Jackal Cover Craw (only bag of plastics i had with me that I actually put in my tackle bag because I forget all my plastics at home and it was to far of a drive back to get them)
  6. A day on the water beats a day at the office. There were allot of beds with spawners, but even standing to scout on the kayak I couldn't get a good view so by the time I saw them they saw me. There were some biggns'. Actually the one I lost was on a bed I returned to after I made a mental note of where it was located. This was the only way for me to have a chance at them by returning and casting from out of view.
  7. I'm a Rage Tail fan boy, so you know where my money is going...
  8. All This... For all this... I did lose a big one, so that made the day worse, but I didn't get skunked...
  9. Nice, make me one Why you have your scupper plugs in?
  10. Again, How did you get them already? As I have never used Kietech's, I'll be going with the Rage Tail for price and quantity. I guarantee they are great quality because Steve wouldn't have it any other way.
  11. Same up here, don't really get thick mats. I use between a 1/2 oz to 3/4 oz weight with a VMC Flippn' hook, and either a Rage Bug or A Pit Boss.
  12. Pit Boss is another great trailer to use.
  13. Nice rig. Is it me or do those Talons look way to big for that boat?
  14. When I started jig fishing it was with the Bitsy Bug/Flip, and i only used the Rage Chunk with a lot of success. Now I'm a big shot, and moved up to Siebert jigs, and still use the Rage Chunk
  15. I've used different brands, and nothing compares to Seiberts, inexpensive for top quality. I don't know how Jackal gets away with highway robbery on what they charge their jigs at. I mean they are nice and work, but they definitely aren't better than Seiberts.
  16. I ain't bought shiz! Yet! I can't say that, I just bought some tackle for surf fishing
  17. That's right, I forgot that you are the perfectionist. Nice DIY hand paddle, and it can also second as a pizza peel
  18. You need waaay more tackle...
  19. I've tied on many o' baits, and cut "THE TAG END" just to see it sink to the bottom or float away with no line attached to it.
  20. I don't think its tippy at all, I've stood in mine with boat and jet ski wake coming thru with no worries of tipping over. Yeah that is the knock on it tracking wise. In all the pro reviews I read, they said it tracks good for what it is, but they do recommend getting the rudder kit for the best tracking. I don't really have an issue with it because this is the only yak I've been in and owned so I wouldn't know what good tracking smells like...
  21. I bought a cheap tarp clamp from the HD, and had leftover bungee from another yak project I did. Ran the bungee thru an existing hole in the handle and bim bam boom. I think it cost me 2 bucks. The crate was also bought at the HD. I used sch40 PVC for the rod holders, was way cheaper than buying already made, and now I have a 4 and 1/2 foot piece left which im gonna make a sand spike out of for when I go surf fishing. So this ten foot 5 dollar PVC tubing saved me like 30 bucks if not more.
  22. Regular milk crate, with DYI rod holders, bungee over the top to keep stuff in the crate. That's also a DYI clamp, so I can attach to a stump or tree or mat even without drifting off.
  23. NRS Shinook *Nevermind, you said inflatable.
  24. Keep it in your pants, sir... Nice rig, you'll be loving it. Is that the color you wanted? In my case I wasn't sure what color I liked better, but when I saw mine in person in Blue Camo, I was like that's the color! The only thing I've had issues with are the bungees coming out of the flush mounted rod holders. For some reason mine frayed where they come out of the rod holder. So now I have the rubber strands exposed, Also make sure the screws that secure the metal seat clamp tabs are in tight, and check them on occasion because they tend to loosen up from all that swivel action when removing the seat. I know because I lost one including the black plastic washer. Those are the only issues I've came across.
