  1. i suggest you just purchase a few basic colors but from a name brand, exactly like fisher49 said, you get what you pay for, if some are .99 cents and others are about 4 bucks, odds are 95 percent of the time the more expensive lure is going to last longer and is made better, i personally really like the bps buzzbaits, they have caught me many fish, heres a link if you wanna take a peek.... http://www.basspro.com/servlet/catalog.TextId?hvarTextId=74325&hvarTarget=search&cmCat=SearchResults
  2. you can do any combo you wanty, but i seem to let them sink and catch many on the initial fall, or a twitch twitch and stop an then they take it usually on the fall, whats great is not only do all the arms and legs and body parts lol make them look more unique but they also help them sink faster and with that reason i rarely put weights on them, they sink at a perfect rate
  3. Thanks hpbb, anyone else please help im commenting to get this back to the top, i really need advice, if anyone can help once again thanks very much
  4. I have many of these just like the next fisherman, my favorite is the spit'n image sponsored by bill dance and it is a heddon lure, this lure for me glides back and fourth so easily, its almost effortless to walk the dog with this lure, i truely love this one
  5. sorry for all of you who keep reading my questions regarding this manner, its just it will be my first one and i want to buy the right one, any info would truely help, im debating between the hummingbird series or the lowrance series, i think im going to go with the hummingbird 565 product...cheapest i have found is about 170 dollars plus shipping, or the lowrance x96 or 67c series for $200 or a little more, should i wait til after the holiday season for prices to drop further if they even will, and which brand does everyone prefer, this is the best bass site in the world and thats why i trust your answers over anyones, enough of my rambling, thanks again-Jon out
  6. mega strike and bang crawfish scent have worked really well for me, heard jacks juice is good, has anyone had luck with yum scents? because i use many yum lures and the bass love them so i fiqured at the very least the bass do not mind the yum attractants
  7. These are my favorite type of soft plastics, theres so many different ones with all kinds of legs and arms that the bass have not seen at all or for long, my favorites out of many are berkley bungee hawg, gambler bacon rinds, and big time the hoo daddy by gene lerew, all of these texas rigged in natural colors, but my most used are green pumpkin, blue and black, and black neon, this yr im going to start using the creatures weights more to get those deep suspending hawgs
  8. depth finder or fish finder, soft baits, a few mud bugs, a bunch of lures here and there and tubes lol but bought those already
  9. Rookie question here but im about to purchase either, or both a fish finder and depth finder, i care about the structure more than anything else, im sick of practically fishing the deeper water blind, id like to know whats down there and find where the hawgs are hanging out, but my friends dad said fish finders give you good details of the structure underneath the water as well, and so he said you dont really need a depth finder when a fish finder does both, is that possibly true?
  10. Welcome aboard and definitely share the knowledge, i cant get enough of all the good tips everyone shares, jdw174 definitely got to squeeze some more fishing time, theres nothing like it
  11. Very informative guys, peter i really liked what you said, a lot i knew but didnt actually think about and put into words, very good paragraph
  12. that truely does suck, sorry to hear "other" hopefully some of it is salvagable
  13. haha i completely agree with you fourbizzle, i do that every so often, cast as high as i can when the fishing is slow and watch the lure crash into the water, it kinda focuses me in a wierd way and i proceed to fish with a new determination and put the frustration behind me
  14. I personally love zoom lures, and would take them over berkely products any day of the week if thats the correct question your asking
  15. thanks very much earthworm, your extremly kind sharing tips of what works, are you still living on the island, if so if you want maybe we'll do some fishing together next spring if your interested, thanks everyone for the types of tubes to try, im going to purchase a few of them soon
  16. I actually think i might have purchased one of those this past spring and havent used it yet, if you do in fact like the spoon type lures like this definitely invest in the rapala weedless spoons, i have caught some nasty bass and pickerel with this lure and a small crawfish looking trailer meant for spinnerbaits, for surface a more known and definitely used would be the moss boss, those who have used it a lot have had some heartbreaks with this lure and have caught some hawgs using it, a little off topic but a few good lures i have had success with, hope this helps any
  17. have used them often, love the motion but cant catch a thing on this dang lures, goes in that special category for each individual fisherman where theres lures he or she uses, thinks has a great movement but cant catch anything, haha after that ranting i feel better about purchasing a pack of those
  18. this is one area i havent a clue to start besides the basics, my friend and his dad have used gitzits for years and have caught tons and tons of bass, for some reason im willing to use similar lures but not the same, might be stupid on my part or stubborn whatever u wanna call it, but anyhow i wanted to know the most common ways to use them with weights and which tubes are good? i was thinking of buying yum tubes, like the chrome flash color, i already have fat ikas and love them but want tubes with the open holes in them and want them rigged with weighted hooks, so basically any advice would be greatly appreciated ty
  19. My ex girlfriend wanted to go bad but i had to do everything, from putting lures on, to changing them, to taking the fish off after caught, dont get me wrong im glad she came but being a babysitter wasn't fun, im guessing there's one good thing that shes my ex ;D
  20. That truely is awesome, before work and school during the summer i caught like every episode of his show, its very informative and i loved watching it, thats great when someone is actually nice in front AND behind a camera, nice going westpalmdude
  21. I agree this would save the bass or help in aid if they were hooked deep but like roadwarrior said i would never ever do this to lures with treble hooks, just got the december bass master mag and the front cover shows a bass hooked on a crankbait the back treble the last one, only one hook was holding this nice fish, i myself have caught many by 1 hook and 1 of the trebles, if they had been no barb id say theres better than 50 percent chance of losing the fish, just my opinion being thrown out there, lata guys Jon
  22. Dont know if you have seen them, but just like those worms on the pre riged spinners, they make lizzards as well, that might be a different look for the bass, and i know they sink to the bottom, used remember they are made by creme, and the title might be reusable rig, thats what it says on the front of the package, dont know if this helps but just throwing it out there!
  23. I truely am sorry if this is too general and cannot be answered but my question is as followed, what guys are your favorite mono line for all general fishing in the 10 to 14 pound range, the line that would work overall for all situations and different types of fishing for the good ole large mouth, i need to get a light line in that range on a decent baitcaster. Want to start with mono and then move to braid when im comfortable with the b.c.
  24. mine are with many of you and the jig fishing, i want to do better with deep running crankbaits, and locating and learning how to find bass according to depth finders that is when i purchase one, just a side note but i hope they hook up easily to his canoe
  25. Well to make you feel better theres roughly 10-15 lakes near me within a few hours, and maybe more than 10 of that 15 are quite shallow and i have the same problem, if you are fishing a shallow lake there are certain crankbaits and deep divers that are suitable for deflecting off the weeds, the lips at the front of the lure indicate if they might bounce off or not, if its impossible and all modifications aren't working, you then can use the deep running lure and make sure it rides right above the weeds and or cover, like the slow rolling a spinnerbait over weedy bottoms, hope this helps some
