  1. Yeah Burley thats exactly what im talking about, thanks man!! your totally right they do give too many of those tiny jigheads , but if thats the only option it might still be purchased , besides those jigheads what else would go with them on tubes mainly and if possible other soft baits
  2. I dont know if im going to explain this well but ill try my best. The example i have are the snap-swivels with different sizes in those wheel like compartments. I was wondering if they made a kit for tube fishing, that contains many different sizes of jigheads to rig tubes, or just in general a bunch of different hooks and or jighead kit, i have tubes but would like to rig them the different ways, i havent done tube fishing before so i dont really know many methods. I thought it would be easier with the many pieces needed sold in one kit, so i can purchase them in one shot. Any help would be much appreciated. Jon
  3. Yeah i seem to agree with everyone here, its kind of too each his own, you vary your twitches like paparock said until the bass tell you what they want, for me it seems id guess the usual 2 twitches and a stop, and then 2 more twitches and stop often works the most for myself
  4. Yes Roadwarrior i go up there yearly and smallie fishing in maine will make your boots quake with excitement, espcially the further north you go in the state like near the moosehead region, plus that far north from what ive heard the majority of the locals dont like the smallies because their interested in catching trout and salmon, if your every planning on checking it out personal message me and ive got a body of water thats just the ticket, back to the overall thread because im young and havent seen many small dominated impoundments id have to vote for maine big time for good to great smallie fishing
  5. i recently ordered one and received it in todays mail, opened that bad boy up and with my first examination wasnt too pleased, on the bottom where the lures usually sealed with a plastic or metal cap theres a decent sized hole, my assumption which could be wrong is these lures will get water logged and not retreive correctly, has anyone used these new lures yet and if so did they swim correctly, secondly if no one has what are your opinions on this point, im kinda nervous because i was psyched to use this lure with those cool kicking legs :'(
  6. First off id like to thank "chris" for posting that information, extremely imformative and mayn things i learned from reading that, i personally like megastrike and have used it for 3 years or so now, recently within a year and a half got the bang spray can in crawfish and even if it scientifically doesnt catch more fish it really boosts my confidence, my yearly 1 week fishing trip to maine proves my personal belief in scents, i use the stuff religiously and maybe its affected my mind but when not using them not much is biting, once i spray it on nice and easily its like bam... someone turned on a switch and largies and espcially smallies are all over these baits, as you can see im a big fan of scents and the worst they do is help masking the odors off of our hands
  7. The old net my fishing buddy i have is torn big time and has many holes in it, im not sure if im asking this in the right location but was wondering if those newer nets made with the rubber are really good? lures constantly get stuck in the old thread nets, and they have to be cut to get the lures out sometimes, do these last longer if anyone has owned them, heres a link to explain what i mean and any responses would really help and i thank you in advance: http://www.cabelas.com/cabelas/en/templates/links/link.jsp?id=0017605016582a&type=product&cmCat=search&returnPage=search-results1.jsp&No=40&Ntt=fishing+nets&noImage=0&Ntk=Products&QueryText=fishing+nets&Ntx=matchall&N=4887&Nty=1
  8. For me on Long Island in New York id say 1-4 bass for about 3 hours is average for me, the average size is somewhat about a pound and a half, even with all the pressure the island receieves i would be really happy to improve the average weight per catch and am working hard to do that, one 4 plus pound fish a summer is my usually my biggest for fishing around here, it seems every other summer its over 5LBS
  9. I'm agree with mobassfisherman big time and use the booyah swim jigs, they are made quite well and i like how the bait is made up
  10. Ive only used the fat ikas so far in the dark pumpkin color and have a blast using them and also literally, its time to buy more colors
  11. Long Mike some of that was quite informative and the rest was extremely funny, i love the humor the boys that use this site have, you almost killed me mike ;D ;D ;D
  12. thanks guys, dizzy5868 i know exactly what your talking about and have done that often for years, maybe you kinda misunderstood my question just wanted to see if other anglers had that cool experience when smallies are out of control, and going after any and every crawfish type bait thats all im saying
  13. Kind of on a side note but i love having an excuse to awaken the bait monkey, i have the cabelas club visa card and obviously as you purchase their products the points add as free cash and then there i go purchasing more items i love the cycle thats happening here
  14. Im also a big fan of of bomber lures they just seem to have great color combos and are of true quality, many fisherman on this site like the rapala dt22 series and on their recommendations i have bought one and cannot wait to use it this upcoming year
  15. It seems when i fish in Maine smallies will take any lure thats made to look like a crawfish, ive used many different brands and colors but if it looks like a crawfish those smallies have a field day and i absolutely love it, i wanted to know if anyone else experienced this fun phenomenon?
  16. i personally love fishing out of a canoe with my fishing buddy and best friend but im bias because thats what he owns and all we use, im not sure if this is a true statement but its in my honest opinion that many smallmouth are taken from water deeper than 12 feet and fish deeper than that cannot see the boat, yes definitely smallies can see you and your boat in water that is totally clear but other than that case they cannot see the boat
  17. I love using these lures, like people have already stated they are extremely easy to use and catch fish, one thing is in my opinion it seems to be one of those lures after using them for years with success that we put them down and forget about them, im going to make sure to use them as often as possible
  18. Quote from Munkin on Yesterday at 9:12pm: I do not like red hooks and it has nothing to do with color. Red hooks are weaker than regular black nickel and they are the only hook I have ever broke on a fish. Allen Manufacturers don't alter the alloy to produce red hooks; red hooks are simply nickel hooks that have been dipped or anodized. Why are they gold after catching 2 fish? I am not sure what brand I had but they were definately weaker than standard hooks. Allen They lose the finish after 2 fish and i do know exactly what your talking about Allen, but if you use a red gammy hook and a black gammy hook, they are still equally sharpe, all the red ones lose is finish not their sharpness
  19. Yeah i remember a few years ago looking at the mad man line for hollow crawfish and totally agree, there seemed to be a billion different colors to choose from, unfortunately i wasnt into using these types of lures back then, all of a sudden ive hit the hollow crawfish lure usage big time and have purchased like every color possible in the yum series
  20. If i can i always purchase red hooks by gammy unless the tackle shop is outta them, theres nothing negative from using the red hooks all the time, and if theres any truth to the bleeding baitfish theory it can only help
  21. lures that resemble any type of shad, i like throwing shad colored spooks and walk the dog lures espcially
  22. just ordered one in the chartreuse and cannot wait for the springtime to see if it was a good investment, i cant wait to see what the leg action is like instead of imagining it in my head ;D
  23. Its definitely interesting but seems a little over the top for my taste, a regular frog can get the job done fine id think, even though i spend like a mad man on many lures, im trying to stay away from the higher priced ones as much as possible, i think i saw these going for 9 bucks which ill definitely pass
  24. really good stuff, its great seeing the fish in their natural environments and their view of things
  25. haha thats too funny rays777, i really wish they would open a cabelas or bps on long island or right outside of the city and in upstate new york, now that would be sweeeeeeet
