Even thought im not good this technique yet, id say carolina rig something, probably a smaller worm or lure colored similar to the baitfish like the shad you mentioned
For all grassy situations and i can attest, a great lure are any types of frog, esp. the yum buzz frogs, my fishing partner knocks em dead with these lures while im cleaning weeds of my baits, i use 6 inch worms texas rigged with small hooks so the lure does not sink right into the weeds, hope this helps
The lights that really help are the ones that can wrap around your fishing hat, the ones that have the powerful led light which are sold at bps and cabelas, they work pretty well and illuminate the shoreline, only problem is when the bugs are out they will swarm your face and have to go to an on off routine
I have many bags of the yum crawbugs in colors that i would consider normal. But also some which i personally wouldnt consider natural. Im not sure or comfortable when to use the following; when do you use soft baits that are colored somke and red pepper, tequila sunrise(a purple), and red shad? I wouldnt consider these natural colors where i fish, or atleast that i am used to using so im wondering what situations typically any of these colors would be suited for? Any help would be much appreciated and help solve this brain freeze of mine on this topic
I too have gotten really excited when seeing this lures motion but it has yet to produce a fish for me and i sold them on ebay. It goes into one of those lures categories
In my opinion id have to add my vote to the worm side, theres floating worms, sinking worms, the all mighty texas rigged worm, paddletail worms, carolina rigged worms, wacky worms, and so on, they just seem to cover every type of fishing possible and even give a confidence to anglers of skills
First off maybe your right and i should have asked you privately but they are exact, i was about to post my lure to show everyone you didnt just come up with this out of the blue when my batteries died, so i did a simple google search and sure enough found the lure i own. You want to see your so called unique lure? And for the record i've loved this site and have not had a problem with anyone on here, so i dont just sit around waiting to mess with other members but i do have a problem with you trying to call this your own when its some else's heart and joy and product!
People making lures is totally cool and even ones that resemble others with slight changes, but this is absolutely wrong, theres no way you made that and thats not close to cool... pawning off someone else's lure as your own. I know this because i looked at your thread and was excited, and as soon as i saw the lure i realized immediately that i own this exact lure. It was made a few years back by Mr. Thornwood. Im not positive of his first name but he has many known lures for sale including the top water bird which many of you probably have seen. But i specifically bought this same exact lure at a fishing show 2-3 years ago with all of the same EXACT features. It's just plain wrong in my book.
Yeah i too think it would work and my personally spin in this is a snake lure looks very similar to worm lures anyhow, plus with that extra tail action they sure should want to eat that critter
Absolutely in my top 3 favorites for topwater, when the bass want this type of action they explode on this type of plug, plus visually its amazing to watch
My best friend and I bought a semi v hull boat finally a few months back and finally got her onto the water today, she is all ready for tournaments and everything. We were accustomed to using an old town canoe for many years without a fish finder or outboard motor even. Well with this new tourny boat of ours we have a fish finder and I printed out the proper manual that goes along with the humminbird but have two important questions. I looked throughout the manual but as far as i know its not stated in there. The transducer is located on the very back of our boat so im not quite sure where the fish displayed on the screen are located in the water. Like as they pass on the graph, due to the transducer mounted on the back are the fish that pop up on the fish finder actually in the water behind the boat? And lastly a minor question are the fish that are on the screen that are shown roughly how far away in distance? We were trying to guessimate these things all day long while learning fish finders for the first time, sorry if i posted this in the wrong location, please any answers would mean a huge deal and thanks again Jon
Has anyone done well with these, i used to own two or three different colors of these and haven't even had one nibble with them, i think I've heard some say they are awesome lures espcially for smallmouth bass, but I'm not sure and wanted to hear what you guys thought about these unique crankbaits?
What types of soft baits would you use to maximize your time, like spinnerbaits are great hard lures that catch fish and can cover lots of water, is there any soft baits you would consider like this and my other question is, many bodies of water i fish have many different forms of vegatation, what 3 top soft baits would use that ease thorough the weeds and most affectly assuming natural color choices so locations in the U.S can change, thanks for any advice, the reason i ask these because i being attacked by the bait monkey for years have many options colors and sizes of lures and now its a good problem to have but still a problem, im often overwhelmed and not sure which soft baits would be optimal in lakes with 10 feet less of water and weeeds up to wazzzooouuuhh
How would you go about fishing a body of water without having a fish finder and not being able to see past 2 inches of the surface. My best guess these few lakes im talking about are 10-15 feet deep max. There are quite a few lakes like this where i live and wondered how you guys and gals would go about fishing it. It does have lots of noticeable structure that hangs into the water such as parts of trees. My logical guess would to add rattles to soft baits, use vibration lures like spinnerbaits and buzzbaits, or extremely loud crankbaits. I'm very interested how you guys approach lakes like this where visability is impossible and knowing the bottom structure is very hard as well, and lastly which lures would be best suited for waters like these. Thanks for all the help again-Jon
My best friend recently bought a boat big enough for tournaments and the livewell is all ready. My question is what are all the required things needed for tournaments. An example would be do you need to carry safety equipment likeflares and an air horn, i know life jackets obviously. What about actual products for the fishing part, i know you need a culling system tags to attach to the fish, are digital scales allowed? Im sorry if these answers are in the FAQ'S, its just i wasnt sure so i decided to post in the tournament section. Any help is much appreciated because i want to make sure we have everything needed. I cant wait to do some tourny fishing, kind of nervous but very excited at the same time. Thanks again guys- Jon
I happened to to learn of a pond from my ex-girlfriend while eating lunch one day with her. Last night i went there with my fishing buddy and we had a blast. Waited til dusk for everyone to leave because there's supposed to be no fishing. Its in a really rich town a few minutes from my home and thats why i assume they do not allow fishing. Anyhow back to the report between the two of us 13 largemouth bass were caught. The average was about a pound to pound and a half. Many 2 pounders as well. This is really good for my area of fishing and the amount as well for 2 hours of fishing. I think the front coming in and rain later in the night also helped. Looks like we have found a honey hole and i hope to fish this pond for many times to come. All bass were released with no harm. The only downer was boy did i lose a monster, got him within one foot from shore and was about to grab him and he snapped the line. The 3 types of lures we used were swimming senko's in green pumkin, gambler loco lizard in blue black, and the western hula stik in watermelon with red flake. The hula stik were lures which i field tested, and about 20 other guys recieved a few months ago to field test. Thanks again J.D for allowing myself to use these lures. There's my report for a productive evening on long island
