  1. Even thought im not good this technique yet, id say carolina rig something, probably a smaller worm or lure colored similar to the baitfish like the shad you mentioned
  2. My favorite by far is mega strike
  3. For all grassy situations and i can attest, a great lure are any types of frog, esp. the yum buzz frogs, my fishing partner knocks em dead with these lures while im cleaning weeds of my baits, i use 6 inch worms texas rigged with small hooks so the lure does not sink right into the weeds, hope this helps
  4. The lights that really help are the ones that can wrap around your fishing hat, the ones that have the powerful led light which are sold at bps and cabelas, they work pretty well and illuminate the shoreline, only problem is when the bugs are out they will swarm your face and have to go to an on off routine
  5. You wont regret it gman, megastrike really should boost your confidence and have the bass hold on longer than they normally should
  6. My vote would have to go with green pumpkin
  7. I have many bags of the yum crawbugs in colors that i would consider normal. But also some which i personally wouldnt consider natural. Im not sure or comfortable when to use the following; when do you use soft baits that are colored somke and red pepper, tequila sunrise(a purple), and red shad? I wouldnt consider these natural colors where i fish, or atleast that i am used to using so im wondering what situations typically any of these colors would be suited for? Any help would be much appreciated and help solve this brain freeze of mine on this topic
  8. I really liked the riverside crawbugs and now the yum crawbugs
  9. I too have gotten really excited when seeing this lures motion but it has yet to produce a fish for me and i sold them on ebay. It goes into one of those lures categories
  10. In my opinion id have to add my vote to the worm side, theres floating worms, sinking worms, the all mighty texas rigged worm, paddletail worms, carolina rigged worms, wacky worms, and so on, they just seem to cover every type of fishing possible and even give a confidence to anglers of skills
  11. First off maybe your right and i should have asked you privately but they are exact, i was about to post my lure to show everyone you didnt just come up with this out of the blue when my batteries died, so i did a simple google search and sure enough found the lure i own. You want to see your so called unique lure? And for the record i've loved this site and have not had a problem with anyone on here, so i dont just sit around waiting to mess with other members but i do have a problem with you trying to call this your own when its some else's heart and joy and product!
  12. People making lures is totally cool and even ones that resemble others with slight changes, but this is absolutely wrong, theres no way you made that and thats not close to cool... pawning off someone else's lure as your own. I know this because i looked at your thread and was excited, and as soon as i saw the lure i realized immediately that i own this exact lure. It was made a few years back by Mr. Thornwood. Im not positive of his first name but he has many known lures for sale including the top water bird which many of you probably have seen. But i specifically bought this same exact lure at a fishing show 2-3 years ago with all of the same EXACT features. It's just plain wrong in my book.
  13. Yeah i too think it would work and my personally spin in this is a snake lure looks very similar to worm lures anyhow, plus with that extra tail action they sure should want to eat that critter
  14. Absolutely in my top 3 favorites for topwater, when the bass want this type of action they explode on this type of plug, plus visually its amazing to watch
  15. My best friend and I bought a semi v hull boat finally a few months back and finally got her onto the water today, she is all ready for tournaments and everything. We were accustomed to using an old town canoe for many years without a fish finder or outboard motor even. Well with this new tourny boat of ours we have a fish finder and I printed out the proper manual that goes along with the humminbird but have two important questions. I looked throughout the manual but as far as i know its not stated in there. The transducer is located on the very back of our boat so im not quite sure where the fish displayed on the screen are located in the water. Like as they pass on the graph, due to the transducer mounted on the back are the fish that pop up on the fish finder actually in the water behind the boat? And lastly a minor question are the fish that are on the screen that are shown roughly how far away in distance? We were trying to guessimate these things all day long while learning fish finders for the first time, sorry if i posted this in the wrong location, please any answers would mean a huge deal and thanks again Jon
