  1. Sorry I just saw this! It is a Winn grip with an Alps MVT reel seat
  2. Thanks for the pictures that helps! Ill also try turning up my sensitivity. Would you have stopped to fish any of those spots from what you can see in the screen shots?
  3. Hey guys so I have been fishing for about 3 years. Fishing deep for me has always meant pulling up to different points and start casting. I never really rode over points looking for fish first, trying to mark schools, and anything else. I fished blind you could say. So lately I have been watching a lot of videos on how to find schools on points mark them with a buoy or waypoint then fish them. I tried it today, but ended up a bit confused. I am using a gen 2 HDS 9 Touch. I know this is a lot of questions, I really appreciate the help, thanks for taking the time to read this! I apologize ahead of time for the quality of two of the pictures, I ran out of storage on my depthfinder and had to use my phone to take a picture. Anyways here are the pictures: Mainly I want to know if what you see in these pictures would make you stop and fish in that spot? In the first picture I found bait, but I cant tell if there are bass with the bait. The second picture I have the same question. I believe there are bass there, but being they are in the middle of the water column would you fish for them, and how? The third picture I wasnt sure if that was bait, crappie, or what, and if there are bass around. I am having a lot of trouble seeing a school of bait fish and telling if bass are there as well or not. The final picture I just am confuse to what it is haha. I saw in a webinar online that this specific color scheme turns hard bottom green on sonar. So what would you think the bottom orange and red spot is? I would have guessed a rock but its not hard and green so Im not sure.
  4. A friend came over tonight that just purchased a new pontoon. He is wanting to get back into striper fishing at Buggs Island. We are planning a trip in 2 weeks. If anyone has any suggestions on areas to fish, good location for bait, and typical depth of fish it would be extremely helpful. Thanks so much!
  5. www.facebook.com/camscustomrods It is usually pictures of rods I have built, fish caught on a CCR rod, or lately I have been using a GoPro when fishing to also showcase my rods.
  6. Thanks guys for all the replies! So to take the question a bit further. About how shallow would you have to be to start worrying about spooking the fish?
  7. Thanks, that is what I am seeing. I just thought it was odd since years before I had never seen it that large so I wanted to ask. Thanks again
  8. Hey guys so this year it seems like the thermocline is sitting about 15ft deep on my local lakes. I have been watching some videos lately on how people idle over points, find a school of bass and mark them, then turn around and fish them. I have also noticed though more often these guys are fishing close to 20ft deep or deeper. Should I be concerned with spooking fish if I am idling 2-4mph in that 10-15ft range? Thanks!
  9. Hey guys so I am seeing something this year on my graphs I have not seen before. I should have taken a picture of it, but I did not think to. Anyways In years past the thermocline on my local lakes have been a small thin line. Even with my sensitivity up on my graph it still was pretty thin, and was usually around 15ft deep. This year I am seeing a line covering from 15ft-20ft, It is obviously much wider, but looks just how a thermocline usually looks. Is this a normal thing to see?
  10. Thanks for those pictures. That helps! So sometimes I notice it is a bit hard in some of those for me to see the bass inside of the school of bait, if you see bait fish scattered out like that do you generally assume there are bass in the schools spreading them out?
  11. I believe it has to do with how the bass are set up, but Im not sure exactly what to look for.
  12. Hey guys so I am thinking about changing my mainline on my carolina rig rod from braid to fc. However I have never used fc for anything other than cranking. I love braid for the sensitivity, but where I am fishing is very rocky and I am having to retie more than I would like. I am worried about losing a lot of sensitivity though, how close are the two lines? thanks!
  13. Hey guys so this year I have been trying to get better with my electronics. I have gotten much better at finding things like brush piles or drops while idling and being able to quickly find them casting a bait out, but I am very lacking in understanding active fish on the graph. Some of the local tournament guys talk about how they will drive over a point and graph it with down scan and side scan before fishing it. If they do not see active fish then they leave without fishing it. Now, I can identify fish on the graph, sometime I am sure what I think are bass are something else, but I can at least tell most of the time when it is a fish and not something else. I just am lost when it comes telling if those fish are active or if they will bite. If anyone has some advice on this or could link me to an article or video I would really appreciate it. Thanks so much!
  14. Could I just tell them I want all of them to be made public? There is 104 files I want to make public so it'd be a huge list if I copy pasted all of the URL's into the email haha. Also could you tell me the email address I should send my request to? When I go to the page you linked me to and click the contact button nothing happens, I am not sure if it is on my end or the website's.
  15. Thanks, what size would you recommend for someone just starting to try them out?
  16. Hey guys so I know pretty much nothing about a flutter spoon. Are there specific water conditions that they excel in or should be avoided in? How does water clarity affect them? thanks!
  17. Yea it is the only map I have on the card. Try to take all of them off but one and see if that one will show. You are right the manual is not very helpful at times haha.
  18. Hey guys so I have a lot of files I have uploaded privately to Insight Genesis. However, I have now decided I would like to make them public so that the social map can have a lot more detail. I do not have the files stored on my computer anymore so I can not just upload them a second time. Is there a way I can make my private uploads on Insight Genesis public?
  19. Im sure a lot of people will recommend an Abu Veritas, but honestly if it were me Id steer clear of that. I have not really had any good experiences with anything with Abu's name on it. If you are not planning on using braid than I would for sure say you should look at a Duckett Ghost. If you want to use braid then you can also look at a ***, but it will be closer to $120 if you get it new. It is also a 7'3. They do offer a $99 6'7 MH.
  20. Sorry I just saw this, I love it! My home lake over the past couple of months has went from having no contour maps anywhere to almost being totally charted. I actually pulled up to a point last Saturday I had never fished before and started throwing at it with a deep crank and hooked up with two in no time, one was a 5.12. I never would have fished that point had I not had the map since I never knew it was there before! It was awesome being able to pull up to a point and know exactly how it was laid out. The maps mixed with my point one is an amazing combo. I hope this will help, Im not really sure why it worked for me. Anyways I scrolled over to the lake on my lowrance with the card in the depthfinder. I then zoomed in on the lake as far as the zoom would let me go. The maps suddenly loaded up and was there, haha I have no idea why that worked, but that is what I did. Hope it works out for you man. I am in love with having these maps!
  21. Thanks guys I appreciate all the advice!
  22. Thanks guys! Haha ww2farmer it is funny you mention chart sexy shad being your favorite color. So far most of my fishing has been with a 5xd, but that has already become my top confidence color in the sk line. I just want to make sure I understand what you are saying, if we are fishing deeper than the light will travel down then we are fishing to deep? How can we know how far down the light actually goes, or did I misunderstand? thanks for all the help I appreciate it!
  23. thanks guys for the replies. Im going back and forth between it, Im not sure yet if I want to try braid or not.
