  1. Ok cool thanks Ill check those out!
  2. What other baits then would you suggest for stained to muddy water?
  3. Hey guys I was getting pretty interested in the Duo Spinbaits but Im wondering if it is more so just a clear water bait. Has anyone used them in stained to muddy water? Most of the videos I have seen of them have been in clear water, and none of the colors really had any kind of chart colors to them. If you would fish them in stained to muddy water what color would you use? thanks!
  4. Hey guys so had a quick question for yall. Today while I was out on the water, I went into a cove that was getting a lot of wind. I looked down at the depth finder and I saw the biggest ball of baitfish that I have ever seen. I could also see fish in and around the ball of baitfish. I went a little farther in and found even more schools of baitfish. Each one had a lot of fish in and around it according to the graph. Me and my dad preceded to throw rattletraps, cranks, spinnerbaits, chatterbaits, and even a carolina rig for the fish that were down deeper. Yet we could not get a bite to save our lives. All of the balls of baitfish were also tightly schooled together so I assume that the bass were feeding on them. Anyways, what do you do when you have a school of baitfish with active feeding fish mixed in with them, but cant get a bite?
  5. Thats really cool, I may look into trying to do my own as well. Thank you!
  6. I may end up going with those wide gap finese ones, I saw them on TW and they had decent reviews. Haha yea the tube is way to expensive for no more than it does. I use half of a sharpie.
  7. Which ones do you like better? Does one seem to out preform the other?
  8. Thanks for the reply I found a few different Gamakatsu hooks. Are you reffereing to the Weedless Drop/Splitshots, Wicked Wacky, or Wide Gap Finese Weedless? I couldnt tell much of a difference between the weedless drop/splitshot and the wide gap, can someone explain that to me? Thanks again
  9. Hey guys so I was wondering for weedless wacky fishing, what hooks would you recommend and in what size for 5in Senkos? I have been looking around and there are so many different styles its a bit hard to choose. I would prefer hooks without a weight on them. As I do not fish wacky in deeper water much. Also often times when I am fishing wacky it seems the fish hook themselves thanks to the circle hooks. A lot of times I will cast it out with a lot of slack to give it the best action, then I realize there is a fish on it when I begin to reel in my slack. Of course there have been times also where I see the line jump and know then there is a fish on as well. I dont always pick up on the line jumping from the initial bite though, so my second question is, when using the weedless wacky hooks, how hard is it to ensure hook ups if you dont see the first hit, and do you need to set the hook? It seems a lot of the time I just start reeling when I feel the fish and dont do any type of hook set thanks to the exposed circle hooks. Thanks!
  10. Ok cool thanks guys! One other question, what swim baits do you prefer to throw on it? I was thinking about getting some swimming senkos for swim jig trailers, would they work well for the a-rig also?
  11. Dang man sorry that is one of the few places I actually have not fished around here, have you seen ncangler? Its a fishing forum dedicated to just places in NC, you could maybe get some more specific help there.
  12. Hey man what is the name of the place you are fishing? Im In Burlington and have been fishing the last year or two, I may have fished the spot you are talking about and be able to help you out some if so.
  13. Hey guys what is your favorite brand for an alabama rig? thanks!
  14. Alright cool thanks, looking forward to getting back out on the water either way!
  15. Ok thanks guys, when do you start the 3 day count, as soon as the front comes on, or when the temperatures finally start coming up?
  16. Hey guys so we had a cold front move in Monday. Tuesday was chilly but no rain, then today we have rain and a lot of wind. Today was 67*f, and tomorrow will be a high of 61*f, however Friday and Saturday will be 70*f and then 74*f. We have a 30% chance of rain tomorrow, and the same on Friday. However Saturday is only 10%. My question is how long after a cold front comes through does it take for the fish to be active, should fishing be better by saturday as opposed to fishing this week? Also would you say the front is ending on Thursday or Friday? Finally does it really matter when it ends, or just the first few days right after it starts?
  17. Ok cool I will for sure keep that in mind thanks!
  18. Hey guys so I was wondering if yall could give me some tips for my fishing trip tomorrow. Weather forecast is high of 62, 50% chance of rain, 15mph wind, and a cold front just came in yesterday. I havent fished this lake in a while, so Im not sure what the temp is, but I believe the hottest it got over the summer was low 80's. It will likely be muddy from yesterdays rain. Last report I could find was from Saturday, guy didnt include water temp but said he was catching them out on points and they had not yet moved into the shallows. Last week we saw temp in the 80's until monday when it the cold front came through. Where would you start looking for the fish at? Also what would you suggest I throw considering the weather and all? Thanks guys
  19. Ok cool thanks guys. I will be out on the water Wednesday, so I will try to find some. Thanks again!
  20. Hey guys so 2 quick questions for yall. I see a lot of people talking on here as well as on videos about fishing grass and weed lines. My question is a basic one, but how do you find the underwater grass? Can you see it on a depth finder and if so what does it look like? I recently got an Elite-7 so I have sonar and DSI. I am getting better at reading but grass was something I was not sure about. Also I have read some people say that if a lake is stained or muddy then it will not have grass because sun light does not get down deep enough, on the other hand I have also read some people say every lake has grass. So which is it? Thanks guys!
  21. Hey guys I was wondering what weight you prefer to throw on football jigs as well as on carolina rigs when you are fishing water in the 0-15ft range and then what weights do you use when it is deeper. Lets assume for the sake of simplicity that the water is calm and there is not a lot of wind to worry about. thanks!
  22. OK cool thanks for all the advice guys! The more I look at these I realize that I have a few more questions. Ive read a lot that swim jigs are great in clear water, how effective are they in stained to muddy water? I'm in North Carolina and most of the lakes around my house stay at least stained. For fishing wood, what head would I want? Is that the arky heads? Thanks again guys!
  23. Thanks man I will look into them! I'd like to hear any other suggestions people have as well!
  24. Hey guys so I recently have started to really want to pick up some jigs. I would like to get some football jigs, finesse jigs, and some for tossing around structure like I would a texas rig. Anyways there are a ton out there and Im not really sure what I should look into. How are the strike king jigs? I liked the looks of some of those on *** but I wanted to see what other people recommended before making an order. Thanks guys!
  25. I found them at my local dicks as well. I picked up a chart blue back 200 model. That one goes 4-6ft I believe. Anyways Ive used it one day, and I did pull one fish up with it. That day we could only get plastics to produce, and although me and my dad tried various moving baits, my Chikara crank was the only one that got any love. I love the action and flash that the bait has. Also the hooks are very sharp and seemed to be good to me. I would for sure recommend picking up a few. *** has them for sell, I ordered a about 5 more the other day.
