  1. I almost always have a wacky rig tied on for following up short strikes, or just whenever I get the urge to throw one. That can mean going through quite a lot of worms in a day though. So I was just wondering if there is anywhere online senkos can be purchased in bulk, or at least larger quantities than 10 a bag.?
  2. Hey guys I was wondering what gear ratio you like to use for a square bill? Thanks!
  3. I have a cranking rod for my lipless cranks because I like the extra distance I feel like I can throw them. I also feel like the softer tip helps me play the fish better and not let them get off the hook. Line can vary from person to person. For me, I like mono or copoly 10-12lb (mainly because diameter is not as important in this situation, and those types of lines are way cheaper than fluorocarbon) for shallow cranks that are rated to go 5ft or so. When I am throwing cranks that are rated for 10ft or deeper then I go to 10lb fluorocarbon. The smaller diameter gets the cranks down deeper.
  4. The sx comes in 6.3:1 and a higher speed after that, if you want to fish a crank at that speed then thatd be fine. I use the Orra Winch for my cranks, I prefer the lower ratio for cranking. I can tell you that with the lower ratio and larger handle cranking with the winch is a breeze. I love mine.
  5. OK thanks guys! Have any of y'all used that and the Orra sx and can compare them?
  6. The first two that I have held felt terrible. They were some of the most rough feeling reels I have felt. The third was extremely smooth and felt amazing. I know they are display models so will get used a lot from people picking them up and what not, but other reels at the stores did not feel so bad for just being displays. I am wondering how durable the Tatulas are? I would like to pick up a 6.3:1 for my spinnerbait rod as well as my topwater/jerkbait rod, but Im not sure from seeing two that felt so bad. Also I usually fish Abu Garcia Orra Sx's. Would you recommend the Tatula over them? One final question, is there enough difference between the Type R and the Tatula to warrent the extra money? I read the difference is their weight, is that the only thing? If so I dont see paying the extra for .3oz, but if there are other differences I would reconsider. Thanks guys!
  7. Hey guys so the other day I asked yall what a rod I should look into for just wacky rigging. I got a lot of great suggestions, but today when I went to the store I stumbled across a Shimano Compre Dropshot rod. I use the compre crankbait rod already so I knew I liked shimano rods. Anyways I ended up picking that one up as it was 6'9 medium fast, and had a pretty good back bone to it. So I now need some braid for it. What lb test should I get? I will be using it both in shallow water and deep water, sometimes weightless and other times with a weight. I know I want yellow braid to pick up on the bites easier when I am line watching. Also with yellow braid would you say I should get a fluorocarbon leader if I am always in stained water that rarely gets more visibility than a 1-2ft? I have fished green braid for a long time in this water and did fine, but I wasnt sure if the yellow being more visible would matter? Thanks!
  8. Thanks for the suggestion! What size and action did you get?
  9. Hey guys I am wanting to pick up a new spinning rod so that I can keep a senko tied on all the time. I saw a Skeet Reese shakey head/senko rod tonight at Dicks Sporting Goods that I liked the feel of, but it has some pretty bas reviews online at different places so I was not really sure if that was the way to go or not. Id like to keep the rod around $100, with $150 being the absolute most I want to spend, and that would need to be head and shoulders better than something around $100 if I were to drop that much. Thanks!
  10. Hey guys so I was wondering when you get to fishing deeper water with a t-rig, what weight do you use? Im wanting to spend some time this summer targeting offshore structure and cover in the 10-20ft range with a Rage Tail Recon worm. What weight would you suggest?
  11. Sounds good thanks guys!
  12. Hey guys so I am wondering what EWG hook sizes you would recommend I use for a few of these different worms. 4in. Senko 5in. Senko 10.5in Ol Monster Rage Tail Cut-R Worm
  13. Hey guys so I am starting to get more into deep structure fishing. I have seen a number of people talk about different ways they use marker buoys so I was wondering what you guys see as the best way. Do you drop the buoy in the beginning and then another at the end of whatever it is you are marking to fish, or do you drop one where you think the middle of the school or rock pile or whatever shows on the depth finder? Also this is a random question I know but do you think you have ever spooked a fish by dropping a marker buoy and the weight on it dropping down to the bottom?
  14. So do all the Little Johns just end up shallower than they actually say by a lot? How deep does the actual DD go?
  15. I have always just threw it out and let it fall on a slack line. Watch the line as it falls and then check for tension on the line once it finishes falling. If nothing has it raise it and let it fall again. After that Id reel it back in and throw it out again.
  16. The DD is supposed to run 18-20 feet and the baby DD is supposed to get around 14 or 15ft. The Md is advertised to get down around 9 or 10ft, it just is not with the line I am using. That is why I want to use that rather than switch. Ok thanks, I have been looking at Invisx (sp?) Ill try it in the 10lb first then. Thanks again!
  17. Hey guys so the Little John MD is one of my favorite cranks. However I wish I could get it down to around 10 ft. Right now I get 7, maybe 8 on a good long cast. I am currently using 10lb Pline Fluoroclear which is copoly. Should I go to 8lb fc to fix this, or do you think 10lb fc would be enough of a change from 10lb copoly?
  18. I was mainly concerned with it being harder for the bass to pick up on it with it down in the deeper water where there wouldnt be as much light penetration and what not.
  19. Hey guys so I was reading how the dropshot is not great in stained water at times because it doesnt give off much vibration or anything for the fish to pick up on it and that in that dirtier water you would be better off with deep cranks and a football jig. I was wondering though what about fishing a wacky rigged senko deeper in that 10-20ft range? I do well with the wacky rig in shallow water that is stained, but I was wondering if it being down deeper would that make a difference? Thanks!
  20. That makes a lot of sense, thanks!
  21. Thanks for all the replies guys that makes a lot more sense now. I was wondering for those of yall that fish them, what size weights do you use for different depths?
  22. Awesome thanks Ill check those weights out for sure!
  23. Oh sorry I thought you were making a joke nevermind. Itll be 4in or 5in senko the most, and maybe a flickshake rarely.
