  1. Thanks, that's good to know. Any idea which stock bearings have polymer cages? I haven't had an issue so far using acetone, but now you have me wondering. Do you use non-chlorinated brake cleaner? Regular brake cleaner is known to destroy polymers also.
  2. I agree with this. I use acetone and my air compressor. Soak them and blow them out with air from both sides and keep repeating until nothing is getting blown out. I used to just soak and spin them a few times until I decided to pry a shield off one to see if any grease was left. I couldn't believe how much gunk was still inside the bearing. The compressed air really helps break up the grease in between soakings.
  3. I don't think the Lazer MG has a lube port, the one I had didn't, not sure about the newer ones.
  4. Yeah I agree with that for sure. I just like the fact that the port on the lews actually allows you to access the gears.
  5. I like the lube ports on lews casting reels. You can put a dab of grease on a brush and lightly coat the gears while turning them. Now the lube ports on shimano spinning reels are definitely worthless imo.
  6. They are made that way for fishing crankbaits. Not all the bb1 models are like that.
  7. It must depend on where you live. I've never had an issue with usps. Everything I've sold on ebay (thousands of items)I've shipped priority mail and never had one single issue. It's faster than ups and FedEx, plus they deliver on Saturdays. It seems like ups just takes forever. Fed ex would be my choice over ups. I'll never use ups again period.
  8. I don't even see how the brakes can work properly with all that grease. I don't see a reason to have any grease in the side cover at all if you're just fishing in freshwater.
  9. That sucks. The last falcon bucoo rod I bought had the same problem. I don't see what's so hard about giving these rods a quick check before they leave the factory. I mean how many rods can falcon make in a day?
  10. The reviews I find hardest to believe are ones that say... I've used (insert brand here) reels for years and have never had an issue.
  11. That sure looks like tackle tour forum to me. And there is a daiwa rep on there. You my friend sound pathetic.
  12. Wow, I've never had a problem with usps. Now ups and fed ex on the other hand...
  13. Daiwa ss 1300, my oldest is close to 25 years old.
  14. Ebay. A lot of jig makers sell them on there. Keep checking every week.
  15. Wow! That's a great deal, I'll be picking up a few. Thanks for the info.
  16. I would just epoxy it back on. Definitely don't cut it off!
  17. I've only had two rods break that I truly felt were due to a manufacturer defect. The rest were due to my clumsiness and stupidity. And few in the ceiling fan.
  18. Yeah I had one and hated it, terrible design. Mine had the binding to from one rain.
  19. ×2 These are the best hooks I've found for flukes.
  20. I had problems with a new shimano reel once and contacted him. He told me the turn around time would be over a month if i sent it in to shimano. He told me to just go buy a new reel of the same model somewhere and return the problem reel if I wanted it back sooner. What stellar customer service! Please elaborate on why you consider their customer service to be a model for other companies.
  21. I'm not a fan of flashy colors or rods and reels that look more like toys. My favorite combos for looks have to be my chronarch 50mg on an older loomis imx rod, and my avid spinning rods with daiwa ss 1300s. To me that's what rods and reels are supposed to look like.
  22. I have a stradic fj that's been out of service for almost 8 months now. Waiting on out of stock parts from shimano for a reel that's still in production. But they would be glad to charge me to fix it if I send it to them. They somehow magically have the parts if i send the reel to them.
  23. I have an old g-loomis gl3 6'8" MH rod that has a telescopic butt section. I've never really understood the purpose of it. Don't know why loomis would offer a telescopic rod that's only 6'8".
  24. I'd like to know this also. I've always used green floral wire but it rusts. I'd like to know what kind of wire war eagle uses on their spinnerbaits.
