What's the point of the wire frame? It's just a way for ardent to sell a reel that nobody would interested in buying if it had a normal frame.
It also looks like the reel foot would eventually become loose.
I thought 832 was supposed to sink like fluorocarbon? I remember when 832 came out there were a bunch of articles written about it calling it a "game changer" because it sank like fluorocarbon but had the sensitivity of braid.
For the high end of your range 175-180 you should be still able to find the discontinued model zillion. Nothing else will come close to the zillion in that price range. If you want to stay close to 100 I'd check out a tatula.
Did you see it in the store for 100 bucks? I looked at cabelas on line and they are on sale for 119. I would definitely buy a few more for 100 dollars, I may even order a few more at 119.
It was probably a reel that had been used and returned. The DSG here has a bunch of reels on clearance that have definitely been used. I'm always skeptical about buying any reel from dicks that's not in a sealed clamshell package.
If the gears get rough again after a few hours of use after you grease them they may just be worn. No amount or type of grease will help if the gears are worn.
That's funny because that is the exact same thing he told me when I messaged him about it. He said he'd never heard of a warranty being voided from using aftermarket grease or oil.
The grease. They said some aftermarket greases cause a chemical reaction with their grease. Which wasn't true in my case because I cleaned all the original grease out. Just a reason for them to try and charge me. I'm not sure opening a reel should void the warranty either. Unless you assembled it incorrectly.
Same thing happened to me. They wouldn't honor my warranty on a two month old stradic because I used a different grease. The funny part is bantam1 has admitted on another forum that he wasn't sure what kind of grease they were using on spinning reels at the factory. To the o.p., I have a lot of the shimano oil that has turned yellow. I'm sure it's still good but for the little amounts I use it's not worth taking a chance.
The previous generation imx rods are much better than the new ones imo. I sold my new imx right away after using it. Still love my old imx's. I wouldn't even pay $200 for one of the new models.
I have one. I'd put it in between a medium and medium heavy. Action is a true moderate fast imo. It's a great rod! I use mine for rattle baits, spinnerbaits, and spooks mostly.
