  1. First off I'm neither a shimano or pflueger fan. I've had pflueger trions, presidents, supreme mg and xt's. I had nothing but problems with them. Line twist, line getting caught in the bail and behind the line roller. Two of the supremes had complete gear failure. I've also had ci4s a 2500 and 3000 and they are decent reels. If i had to choose between pfluegers and the ci4 i'd go with the ci4. I also have two stradic fj's and i would choose that reel over the ci4's any day. If you look around you can get one for around 140 bucks new.
  2. Try both methods. If those don't work try something else. Let the fish tell you what they want. Never be afraid to experiment.
  3. I know this thread is old but i had to reply. I had 4 curado e's a 6 citica e's and they all had that same gear to gear feeling and noise that the op is talking about. I replaced a few of the gearsets and they were back to super smooth but after a few months they had that rough gear feeling again. I sent some of them to shimano and they came back the same. I finally got tired of it and sold all of them.
  4. I use mostly super flukes. I dont see any reason to downsize. In late summer early fall i use magnum flukes for river smallmouth and even with those i still catch lots of small fish.
  5. early fall, buzzbaits, spinnerbaits, swimbaits, jig n pigs. late fall/winter, suspending jerkbaits, Erie darters, hair jigs, float/fly. If the lake your fishing is deep and clear you may want to try a drop shot rig.
  6. Hi everyone, I've checked out this site a few times and decided to join. I mainly fish for river smallmouth but also fish for greenies now and again. I look forward to talking with all of you. Adam
