  1. The gears are probably worn. No amount of cleaning or lube will help.
  2. 7'medium power fast action avid casting rod.
  3. Can you buy any of those reels today? No. I'm definitely NOT a shimano fan! I haven't liked any shimanos since the chronarch d's,curado d's and Calais. Wasn't impressed at all with the e series reels.
  4. I agree with the reels part. I would take my zillions, curado D's, and Calais over any casting reels available today. I still prefer my ss1300s over most spinning reels.
  5. The grease in the ar bearing may be your problem. The ar pawl wouldn't cause play because it doesn't really do anything unless the ar bearing fails. Try cleaning all the grease out of the ar bearing and see if that helps.
  6. One. And an extra 2 piece rod hidden out of sight in my vehicle. If I left a few rods in plain sight in my vehicle at most of the places I fish they would be gone.
  7. For numbers it would have to be a zoom finesse worm in green pumkin. For numbers of big fish nothing comes close to a jig and pig. I've caught more big smallmouth and largemouth in my life on jigs than all other baits combined.
  8. I agree with you that ebay usually does get you the best price. And I always start my auctions at 99 cents no reserve and free shipping. I do sell a lot of stuff on ebay and make decent money. Having said all that I still feel like ebay fees are a total rip off! And they really do nothing at all to help sellers. If someone buys an item from you and decides for any reason they want their money back you're screwed. It doesn't matter if you say no refunds or returns. Ebay will give the buyer their money back no questions asked, and then they will get the money from you one way or another.
  9. All your posts have got me thinking about getting some of my old round abu's out and putting them back to work.
  10. They are crooks! They double dip out of your money. When you sell an item the money goes into your paypal account and PayPal takes a percentage of that money for transferring it. THEN you have to pay ebay their fees AFTER PayPal (which ebay owns) has taken a percentage of that money. And now they have even decided to take a percentage of the shipping costs!!! So if you sell something with a 10 dollar shipping charge ebay takes a dollar of it! It's absolutely ridiculous! If you sell an item for 100 dollars you only end up with around 85 dollars by the time they get done. Oh and good luck trying to get ANY help from eBay if you are a seller. You will end up getting screwed in the end, Ebay always sides with the buyers 100%. Sorry for the rant.
  11. Thanks guys. Any suggestions on which size owner split ring to use. I don't want to order a bunch of split rings that are too heavy and make these baits sink. I don't really have all my extra split rings labeled as to what size they are. If I did I would just do some experimenting to see which size works best.
  12. St.croix makes a 6 medium triumph casting rod that's decent for 90 bucks. The cork handle version not the crappy orange one. They also make the premier in 6 foot medium and medium heavy. Although I like the few triumph rods I have better than my premiers. I think the unfinished blank gives it a better overall feel.
  13. I bought a group twenty pointer 100s cheap. Most of them have bad or broken hooks. Some of them are missing the hooks and split rings. What hooks and split rings do you guys use on pointer 100s to keep them suspending. I think I've replaced some of the hooks on my pointers before with vmc #5 hooks but I can't remember which model they were. Thanks.
  14. Lunker city. slug go's worked great and still do to this day.
  15. ×2! Throw in a few packs of bubble gum for pre spawn fish. Flukes not the kind you chew.
  16. That's my conclusion also. I haven't seen any new redesigned 2015 wiggle warts.
  17. I liked my symetre FI's and still use one of them. Didn't like my symetre fj's at all, nothing but issues with binding. I bought a new symetre FL a while back and hated it. The rotor was too close to my knuckles and it just didn't feel solid at all with the graphite frame compared to the older symetres that had the aluminum frame. Imo shimano really downgraded the symetre with the FL.
  18. I've had to shim every shimano reel I've ever owned out of the box to get the line to lay even. Daiwas are usually ok out of the box but I've had to shim a few of mine.
  19. You won't be able to tell until you spool it with line. If the line builds towards the top of the spool add a washer bottom of the spool remove a washer. There is no factory setting. These are just shims for you to get the line to lay even on the spool. They make it sound as if you are changing the line lay to your personal preference but it's just less work for reel manufacturers to let the customer do it once they buy the reel.
  20. For me there are no advantages, only disadvantages like the icing up and cotton wood trees jamming up the guides etc. I can cast as far as need to with conventional guides, even though I don't believe micro guides make a noticeable difference in casting distance. If I ever get to the point where I feel I need micro guides because of the weight difference compared to conventional guides I think I'll just quit fishing.
  21. I've used pre and post rapala warts and caught lots of fish on both. It's like any crankbait, you can buy ten of the identical bait and there's always gonna one or two that just flat out catch more fish.
  22. Why? The rod in those pictures looked terrible. If I were going to buy one it would definitely affect my decision.
  23. That's strange. My buddy was talking to me today and said he was going to order a new E6X rod. I told him to get on here and check out those pictures, but for some reason it's deleted.
  24. Another vote for an avid! The 7' medium power fast action avid is a great all around spinning rod!
