  1. I'll check the pinion yoke to be sure. I didn't realize it could go upside down but I'll check it. Also in response to other replies the brake drum is oiled good.
  2. https://youtu.be/EvYE91VVhuUMy curado I makes an irritating noise while retrieving. Like the spool is rubbing or something. I've completely cleaned it bearings and all. It functions perfectly but makes noise during retrieve. Anyone having the same issue or know any fix?
  3. Quantum hot sauce. I realize some don't like it but is it safe to use on gen 3 revo premier bearings?
  4. Looking forward to your feedback on how you like it. We're you able to remove the gear side bearing to soak it or do you do it another way
  5. Can anyone fully explain the bps rod and reel trade in deal. It says up to 2-3 hundred dollars trade in. I'm unfamiliar with it and wanna take advantage of it depending on what I can find out how it works.
  6. Thank you dvt. I was looking at the arms a while back and they looked like they would just break if tampered with. I have done a bearing flush etc. It casts reasonably well guess I was reaching for more. It may have a bad bearing but it spins freely when soaked in acetone but much less after a drop of oil. From new it was never the best in casting distance perhaps by design. I will definitely try out other rod options.
  7. I have a revo premier gen 3 and not really getting as much distance as with other reels. I'm running the brake dial in the 0 position. So I'm wondering if it's possible to remove so brake shoes to get even less braking. It seems in the 0 position or min. the reel is still being braked some because it never backlashes and casts decent but not far like the rest of my other reels. Does anyone know a way to remove the brake shoes safely?
  8. The reel reads like a solid reel it would be great to hear from anyone that purchases one. I would definitely be interested. Aluminum frame and sideplates. Japanese bearings? Almost has the look of a lews. Coincidence or am I seeing it wrong?
  9. I grew up seeing c3's on the cover of bps and always wanted one. Eventually I purchased two c3 lights from wally world. I think they were exclusive to ww. They were harder to cast with lighter lures but still I enjoyed them. One day I was determined to catch a large striper from my local lake and felt the conditions were right for the bank I was going to fish. I grabbed a dozen large shiners and went fishing. I sat on the bank and respooled with fresh 12lb test. I then casted a bobber and hooked shiner maybe 20 ft from the bank. To my surprise the bobber dropped and my freespool ran so I engaged the reel and set the hook. The drag flawlessly released line as a huge fish plummeted to the bottom probably fifty feet or more. The fish then turned and ran towards the main lake off a point so I scrambled to the end of the point in case he turned into it as I didn't want him dragging the line across it. He ran around 75 yards before he just gave up and was around the surface so I dragged him as carefully as I could. It was awesome. 38 " striper. The line easily broke when I tested it afterward. The reel did a great job for me on that lucky day and I will always remember that.
  10. I agree with the I on three shoes and two on the dial. I did use two shoes and six on the dial for a while but it didn't leave any room for on the fly wind adjustments. I found when not using max effort casts I could lower the dial but needed to thumb it carefully (all with loose tension brake) but it casted effortlessly. The x-ship gives the reel an effortless(smooth) retrieve that I like.
  11. That's the spirit! Gotta get me one of those and practice that casting technique.
  12. Im definitely open to reels that work for striper and musky lures as well. Line capacity can be important for stripes.
  13. Thank you. I look forward to your posts
  14. I do agree that technique and experience matched with the right gear will do the best job. I was thinking with the newer braking systems/bearing mods and reel styles I could get feedback for launching topwaters (frogs/wake baits/walkers/jigs /worms) I definitely did get great feedback and definitely not looking for controversy with equipment. I realize spinning equipment is probably best suited for distance but truly enjoy fishing from the bank with a baitcaster and wondered if the newer reels and which ones are enabling longer casts by design considering they are kept in proper shape. Are the older reel designs holding up or are some newer styles beginning to actually get more distance. If so whats working for all of the diehard baitcaster enthusiasts.
  15. Interesting. I have a premier (gen3)and stx. The stx seems to do better for me. I do like the sx I guess I might have underestimated the magnetic breaks
  16. I've been considering a longer rod for my situation. Curious about line, reel (high capacity, braid or mono)
  17. Yes sir. Don't get me wrong I'm very happy with my ci. I appreciate everybody's opinion on what works best and always looking for the edge in baitcasting equipment, techniques, rods lures but I'm really interested in what works for others. Heck yeah keeping them clean really gets the most out of them. I've heard this about the core and hope they bring them back into production.
  18. Any tws or tatulas. Free floating spool tws or spool with a shaft. Which tws?
  19. Read the casting distance thread. So what baitcasting reel is recommended for distance? I like to launch topwaters in the summer and have had good success with the curado I. I wondered if anyone has a good suggestion for a baitcasting set up for distance. Rod reel line even different lures not necessarily topwater. What's everyone's favorite baitcaster for distance? Bank fishing some spots I have the break is at the end of the cast and with a good cast I've caught some fish I wouldn't have.
  20. An old friend told me before a fishing trip 'catfish have a good attitude' Thats fun to watch!
  21. The Gorilla killa. It was a monster jig from my recollection
  22. I have bought two molix magnums and was wondering if anyone is having success with them. They seem a bit heavy and they have a large profile.
  23. They use carrots to make the reels too?
  24. Dvt is very helpful and I appreciate his info and advice. I try to do my own work but if and when I can afford to I would definitely use the service they provide.
  25. Good question. I was thinking of getting one also. They are also mostly moderate action. I was wondering also if that action will work for what you're looking for. I'm sure some more experienced members will reply.
