  1. Found a fantastic place to Trout fish on the Contoocook river. If you go into Hillsboro and turn left to W/ Main Street, then turn left onto sand mill road (You will see a power plant) there is a place to park you car it is the connection to Contoocook and north branch river. Fantastic fishing there. I caught 5 trout. 2 rainbow and two brown trout 4 nice perch and believe it or not a brookie (I threw him back. I don't like to eat the brook trout because of the low population), out of there in about an hours time. i fished from 6:30 PM-8:00 PM and boy were they biting like crazy After 7:00 pm. I did not bring my fly rod but rather used a rooster tail with a live red worm tail and it was. bite after bite. If you enjoy trout fishing I highly recommend this spot. trout is my favorite fish to eat so, any time I can hit the river for trout I try to.
  2. Caught 2 Largemouth bass with slugs this evening, and two more with worms trailing on a lure. I guess what answers my question. Slugs work as bait for Bass,
  3. I was out in the Garden today getting worms for fishing, i noticed a ton of slugs under the dead growth. I scooped up about twenty or so of these guys. I am not a live bait fisherman when I fish, and I have never used slugs as bait before. I plan on doing some trout fishing and bass fishing this evening in two different ponds Has anyone ever used slugs here for fishing?
  4. Finished my fishing trip to Greg Lake this morning on my fishing Kayak. I caught 2 large mouth bass @ around 6:20-7:00 AM one weighed about a pound (didn't officially weigh him) and the other I weighed at 2.1 pounds. Both hit off a hula popper, Black Skirt. I have been having great luck with the poppers as of late. Pictures so come, from my Powder Mill trip.
  5. I do have a picture of the 4.9 pounder, It is on my camera, I'll put it up soon. I have a 5 lb limit with my pictures, 1-4 pounders just don't do it for me anymore lol. Fun to catch though.
  6. Also Anyone here members of a good Bass fishing club Near Antrim NH? I really need to join one.
  7. Bass Are Biting Like Crazy @ Powdermill Pond in Bennington. I went out this evening and nailed two nice Large Mouth and a little one in my Fishing Kayak. One weighed 3.7 Lbs and the other weighed 4.9 Lbs. The small one I did not take the time to weigh out, he probably went about a pound and a half. I threw them all back, they deserve some more time in the water. I hit the Pond @ 6:20 Pm and fished till 8:20 Pm. They started feeding on the top as I hit the water and the jumped persisted for those two hours. The only reason I left was because I was having trouble spotting my Hula Popper even though the moon is full. All three were caught on a Hula Popper Green and Black skirt. Biggest Catch from Powder Mill was a whopping 7.3 Lb LargeMouth. I almost skipped this Pond way back because people were telling me they only were catching 1-3 pounders, their just not hitting the spots, Fish the Southern end of the Pond, there is a good number of whoppers in there, looking to catch my 10 pounder soon from that area. Recommended times to hit the Pond- 530 AM-8:30 AM / 5:00 PM- 9:00 PM. Afternoon times are hit and miss, I tend to stick near the banks in this pond, but you got to use a weedless Texas rig because there are a lot of weeds throughout the pond and you need some weight to get your plastics to the bottom. Greg Lake: I fished Greg Lake two days ago from 4:30-6:30 PM. Did not have much luck, caught one bass about a pound or so, and only one other strike. I switched from 3 colors of Senko worms, to a Strike King Rodent, to a crayfish, nothing was really interested. I am going to hit Gregg Lake tomorrow morning around 5:45 AM, I will let you know how it goes. I am still trying to get the peak times downs on this lake, the Bass have a mind of their own there. Can't really give you a recommended time because I have only fished this lake about a half dozen times. Biggest Catch there for me was a 4 lb Largemouth.
  8. Top Water fishing in different weather conditions is more about the steady technique and reading the water than it is about nifty colors. I usually stick with a shad pattern, myself. IMO it is the single best pattern because it is a natural food color and Bass love shad especially during the spawning months and when they are schooling. I love to use poppers for top water myself,
  9. Hi My Name is Benjamin, I am a Angler who lives in Southern New Hampshire. I have been fishing since the age of 8. I started Bass fishing when I was 12. I have learned a lot, but just when you think your a pretty good Angler, you soon find that you don't know it all and you have a lot more to learn. I joined this forum so I can extend my knowledge in Bass fishing (especially LM). Don't be suprised if I pick a bunch of your brains for tips and tricks. Thanks for having me, Ben
