  1. That's going back in time. Thanks for the memories.
  2. If most everyone practices catch and release. Then why aren't there plenty of big bass?
  3. try wd-40. It has been known to be a fish attractant as well.
  4. I fall out of my boat at least twice a year. Actually just last week I was getting it ready for a Table Rock trip and fell out of it while it sat on my drive way. Broke a couple of ribs. I fell out last year at Guntersville reaching for a lure. WT was 48 degrees. Once I even fell out while trying to connect the boat to the trailer at the end of the day. No balance what so ever.
  5. I always take a coffee can to pee in.
  6. I use circle hooks on my senkos. I hardly ever set the hook. It seems to me that if you set the hook you just rip it out. I let the fish hook themselves. If you feel a bump, nontypical line movement, or a heavy hit, just reel and reel. This works well, for me anyway. Good luck.
  7. My brother n law and I fished a small pond behind his house on some common ground. I never had a day like this before for bass. In just 3 hours, from 3 pm to 6pm, I myself caught 25 bass. Everyone about a pound and very spunky. They hit everything I threw at them. Jigs, plastic worms. grubs, lizards, and every color. Nothing big but what a blast.
  8. Whwnever you break off a rod tip do you throw the rod away or keep it and use it?
  9. Does anyone use those feeding times that are listed in sports magazines? If so, are they very accurate? How about moon phases? Me, I just go fishing.
  10. Congrats. A brand new fisher!!!!! (:
  11. I'm glad you asked me if I released it. I most certainly did. I never keep bass unless I'm fishing a farm pond and the owner wants it culled. Or if they die. I haven't lost one this year . I try my best to make sure they don't.
  12. I'll go with Jon Dutton. Aka Bassisaddicting!!! (-: I also like Bill Dance
  13. I only have 3 lures I use when it's hot. I caught the one in my picture with one of these lures. 1. Senko 2. Senko 3. Senko PS: Did mention a senko? (-:
  14. WOW! I know what you mean RN. My wife is 5' 11 and a person would rather french kiss a bobcat in a telephone booth than mess with her. I feel your pain. Been there to many times. Her's wishing you a speedy recovery and a safe rest of your life. Better learn how to sleep with 1 eye open.
  15. I caught this 4.1 pounder today on a 5" Baby Bass Senko wacky rigged. He was just short of 20 inches. My heart raced for 30 minutes. (-:
  16. I have 3 uglies including 2 lights. I like em all. They are tough rods. I catch bass on thumps all the time with my medium heavy. The 2 lights i use for pan fish. Great rods imo.
  17. Bass are delicious. I only keep the 12 inchers that I catch from farm ponds to eat. The land owners where I used to hunt liked em as well. His wife always soaked them in salt water for a few hours or over night before frying. This really makes a big difference, IMO.
  18. Today I caught 2 nice fish. 1 over 2 pounds and 1 under. The first one was on a baby bass GY senko. He swallowed it completely. The second one was on a black buzz bait. Again he swallowed it. My thoughts were that they are very hungry. I tried jigs the rest of the morning, nothing. I do however think I got 1 little bump, not sure but hey it's a start. Jigs are the 1 lure that I'm not real confident in yet, but I'll keep trying. I know Brian Needham swears by em. He catches a lot of "big uns".
  19. Wow!!! That's great Mike. I remember you and Jeanie telling us about your plans. If you come by St. Louis give us a call. Love to see ya'll. I'll even pop for dinner!!! :-) Have fun and go Bears. Be safe too. Give a big hello to Jeanie for us.
  20. Thanks for all the help fellows. I;ll give it a try tomorrow. With any luck I will post some picts.
  21. Hey Joe. How are you? I have been very bust this summer. Usually by 8pm I'm so danged tired all I can do is watch a little tv. I have been catching a lot of 2 and 3 pound bass. My biggest so far this summer is a 4 pounder. I weigh and measure all my bass over 12 inches and 1 pound. Mac
  22. I have been fishing these in some local ponds in my area. I've tried deep water, shallow water, points, rocks, stumps, etc. After I catch some bass on my plastic worms,, I try a jig. Thanks for all the help.

    Jigs

I have yet to catch a bass on a jig. I throw it out, let it sink to the bottom, count slowly to 20, jig it, count to 20, jig it. I do this until the retrive is complete. Any advice? Mac
  24. I've been fishing a lot and entertaining grandkids. Doing a little bar b qing, frying fish, pontooning, and enjoying all the relatives that come to visit this time of year. (-: So far it's been a great summer. Go Cardinals.
