  8. Starting off my second post sense no one around my area has commented on my first post i will make this one a little more general! I am still pretty new to bass fishing and still constantly learning and wanting to learn more! And in this post i wanna talk about some rod and reel setups, Right now i just have a cheapy spinning real from bass pro i think i paid 40 dollars for it just to have a spinning real and its funny because i actually caught my 4 pounder on it and some other really good size bass and never had a problem lol but i also have a kvd quantom baitcaster with the accurist rod which i like i dont really have any complaints i bought it used off a buddy because he bought the wrong side reel, and i also have abu garcia which is a orra baitcaster and orra med heavy rod. Ive been researching a lot into good rods though and been debating a long time on what rod to get and what reel. Ive always been told do not go cheap with a rod because just like antything else you get what you pay for! So as of right for my budget im considering getting the abu garcia veritas rod and i was gonna get a revo s reel but after reading some mixed reviews on tackle wearhouse and the revo sx only being 30 dollars more and having a lot better reviews i was thinking that reel would be a good setup. i was also thinking about getting the rod in a medium fast action with micro guides to use for carolina rig type fishing! Please any input will be awesome on which way to head im a big fan of abu garcia and esp the veritas rod everyone i have talked to and everything i have read sais the rod is so good it should be a 2-300 dollar rod! Thanks for your input!
  9. Whats up everyone just made my account and posting for the first time!! First off some info on myself i have only been bass fishing for about 2 years at the most and started off farm pond fishing with a friend! Before that i would maybe bluegill and catfish once a year if that and never really got into it. I got introduced to bass fishing and ive been literally hooked ever since and over the passed year its become even more of an addiction so i finally bought my first boat, a 14 foot jon boat and decided i was gonna start off small lake bass fishing and so far it has gone good! I started off fishing lakes around the champaign area goin to homer lake first before i even had a trolley motor and i literally paddled around the whole afternoon but probably the best day we've had so far weight wise with my buddy catching a 3 pounder and another right over a pound then i caught a solid 2 pounder with a healthy belly and 3 pretty small bass!! So here goes my main topic im getting tired of fishing homer even though its a beautiful lake and i really suggest trying it because ive heard people pulling out 4 and 5 pounders quite a bit! So im looking for new smaller lakes or even some homer lake pointers would be awesome because all i have is a 55lb thrust trolley motor and a battery i got for free which is shot and only last about 3 hours or so but it works until i get a new one! Ive been researching kickapoo and would really like to know more about it because it seems like from what ive read theres decent bass and would also like to know what other possibilities i have within an hour or so from champaign! Ive fished Homer, river bend rock quarry, walnut point, and lake of the woods which lake of the woods idt i ever caught a bass at! So please any suggestions would be really appreciated so thank you for your time!!
