  1. Zillion 100SHA. A little havier of a reel but I did not notice a balance issue.
  2. RW has been raving about these rods for the last few months and this weekend at a tourney I was given the oppurtunity to give the DHC5-701CAMH a try. I tied a 1/2 ounce PB&J jig on it with a Zman Crawdadz trailer and it must have hit the sweet spot on that 7' MH rod because it was a perfect. Even though the Jig bite was not on I still really enjoyed the rod. I kept going back and forth between My Tatula and the Pinnacle and really enjoyed them both. Build quality and components were excellent sensetivity was great and so were the looks. I would keep this rod in mind for people shopping in this price range.
  3. Thanks. It was really simple. I had a 2x6x8 lying around so I just propped it up on the baseboard in the garage and used a 1.5 inch paddle bit and went straight down on the angled board to hold the rod butt in place. The top is a 1x4x8 painted black that I put screwed into the studs and then got a fun noodle at Dollar Tree for $1. I cut the noodle in half and used some quick dry glue that the wife had for crafts. The holes in the base are 4" from center to center and the slits I cut in the noodle are every 4 inches. I stole the angled base design from the one Goose made. I had all these materials lying around and the noodle was the only thing I had to buy. You could honestly get by with mounting the noodle directly to the wall and just putting the rod butts on a 2x4 that is on the floor, but I liked the spacer between the noodle so the rods were perfectly parallel to the wall.
  4. Yeah it was weird. I watched a dink run up and hit something on the surface and there were a bunch of shad shivering on the surface then they would dart down and slowly come back up. They did it over and over so I figured what the heck I had thrown everything else at them.
  5. Yeah I have never had one go that deep. It took a few tries to get it out and that was the tough part. Having to grab after you didnt rip hard enough just makes you not want to try again.
  6. Yeah it was a slow bite. Managed some bites on Jerkbaits with very long pauses between jerks 15 to 20 seconds. Picked up 3 on a watermelon shakey head in 8-10 ft fished slow. Also picked a few up on a white fluke fished like a dying shad. Last but not least caught one on a sammy. Fished all around Gravois Arm found a 100y sretch that had 51 degree water which was almost 5 degrees warmer than any other water we found. Ended up in 3rd in our club tourney.
  7. The issue is that it ended up in my hand. I am not even sure if this should be posted in this forum but if not just move it. This is what happens when your wife throws her coat on your rod with a jerkbait and you be Mr nice guy by not cutting it out and trying to pull it out.
  8. If that doesnt show the photo then I dont know WTH I am doing. and I will just leave it at that. Edit: sweet it worked.

  12. Man try having BPS and dicks within 10 minutes then the main BPS and Catalog store within 3 hours and a cabelas within 1.5 hours it makes for really long weekends
  13. Sometimes I get out of the boat and slowly swim up behind bedding bass and just hang out for a bit. I like to try and become one with the cover. When the fish lets its gaurd down I attack. I reach out as fast as possible and lip it. Then I swim it back to the boat show the guys and realease it. 60% of the time it works everytime.
  14. Tourney this weekend anyone been down since the weather has warmed up over the last couple weeks?
  15. I would give them a call and see. It is worth a shot. I was at BPS about 15 minutes before I went and they were 7.49 a piece. The Manager made it sound like Dicks got a huge shipment of them with the same SKU on each lure and they were 2.99.
  16. Baby Got Back sums it up well.
  17. I wonder why they are so cheap. Do you think they are doing away with those colors or maybe they a blemishes(even though I didn's see any)?
  18. I played with one yesterday it was the 7'2" micro guide Spinnerbait/worm. Seemed like a decent deal to me. Fairly light and all the epoxy around the guides looked good. I would say for 29.99 and not fishing it that it is a heck of a deal.
  19. Was at my local DSG and noticed the Excaliburs for 2.99. Then I looke down the isle and noticed the Xcaliburs for 2.99. All Xcaliburs were 2.99(XrK50, Xr25,Xr50,Xr75,Xcs100 and 200, poppers and EE4 Jerkbaits) in all of the real craw and real gill patterns plus their normal line up of colors. I asked the store Manager if it was correct and why they were so cheap. He had know answer for the price but said it was correct. Needless to say I spent almost 160 bucks in Dicks saturday and had to add a new piece of pegboard to the wall.First Tourney at LOZ on saturday and am glad to have a lot of new Jerkbait colors to try out.
  20. I use the Mesh type. I like the way they stretch a bit.
  21. You would have much greater success if you were around baitfish.
  22. That is love my friend. Mine is 12 I dont do a trout stamp. I also have no idea what my boat was and cannot remember if I did 5 years or 3 years.
  23. I will have to look at that, but I have an 81.5" wingspan and from a comfortable reel palm to my elbow is around 17-18 inches so finding a rod that fits the Criteria seems impossible at times.
  24. I would go for the one on a broomstick or from the Wizard of Oz.
