  1. Hey Guys, I have a question for those of you who use these reels and those who take them apart to clean them. I took my buddies reel apart last night to clean and lube for him and when I put it back together it is not as smooth as it was. I was sure to to use to much oil and grease. It feels a tad geary at the moment, and i feel pretty bad because it is his favorite reel. I just want to know if this has happened to anyone here and what it took to fix it? I have followed the diagram on putting it back together but I feel like i am misisng something(obviously). Any words of wisdom would be awesome. Thanks Guys. Tight Lines.
  2. Agreed. This place is a gar pit and is very inconsistent. We actually have a club Tourney down there this Saturday and I am not the least bit excited. Fishing is slow I got three keepers pre fishing this last Sunday and the biggest was a 3.5 pounds whcih was caught on a black and blue jig with a watermelon chigger craw. And the other two on weightless sticks.
  3. I may be speaking for myself but I am not sure they should change something that works as great as the Zillion. If they change anything I believe they should work on cutting an ounce or 2 before they change the line guide system.
  4. Looking for some gray 6' * 20' 16oz carpet. Anyone know where the best prices are?
  5. My buddy lost the bill off of two of them over the weekend. Sad thing is he never even hit the bank or anything but the water.
  6. no kidding. I have a blast finding and eating them.
  7. Everyone ready for the season? It has just begun here in Missouri and they should be popping hard in thenext week or so. I found a few greys on Wednesday and hope to find a mess of Blondes this weekend and into the coming weeks.
  8. I am glad everyone made it back for yesterdays game.. Now I think we will just open a can all the way to the cup...
  9. That looks like a nice relaxing place to fish!
  10. No get some flex seal. If it is only the rivets it works great I have coated many of my jon boats with it.
  11. Light=Light Dark=dark. Equation finished.
  12. Also not hollow but Castaic Jerky J is a good one
  13. Tatula, I have 2 Revos and never use them. They are not bad reels or anything I just dont prefer them over my Daiwas. Never had a PQ but I hear for the price they are not bad. But ifyou can get the Tatula for 104 which shouldnt be hard then I would say it is the best of the 3 listed.
  14. Dont get tthe Aird combo, the rod may be decent but the reel is awful. Hate to say that about any Daiwa product but the truth is the truth. My advice would be to push your budget up about 25 bucks and get and older model Exceller reel (40-50$) and a Daiwa T rod for around 75 bucks. Or find a Shimano Clarus (around 70) and a used reel on the flea market or on the bay. Either way watching the Flea Market could land you the nest Bang for your buck.
  15. Why are these fished tied up like you are going to eat them?!?!?!
  16. Thats awesome! Is that your secret spot? because it looks great.
  17. I think it is in the 8-9 range. Just tell him it is between 3 and 12 pounds to be safe.
  18. I agree with WIGuide on this one. If you are fishing are docks, overhangs and structure you will want accurate casts and a rod in the 6'6" range will help. I believe that some of the older pros still use 5'6" pistol grip rods for accurate spinnerbait casts I wouldnt do this but to each his own. If you waters are more open than a 7' will be great. I personally have a 6'6" and a 7' for spinnerbaits. That being said I would recommend another rod, but it seems that you like white so I would go with the Veritas because I hear they are quality rods(sensitive and light).
  19. Why everyone should switch to using Daiwa products. LOL. I am just messing around. I would choose something that you are truly interested in so that it is easy to write about. What types of things do you like?
  20. My home scale has a 330lb limit so I will have to get back to you on this!
  21. I would try the 7" YUM Dinger.
  22. I understand what you are saying in regards to native species. But around here our rivers are being overrun with Asain Carp and it is a huge problem for our native species. We cannot even drive boats down the river without being on the look out for one flying in and hitting you in the face. My Friends and I all Bow hunt these fish and though I cannot use al of them and some get wasted I try to cut htem up and us them as cut bait for trot lines. I would say on a day when we get 20 I cut two and throw the rest. But there are schools of hundreds that jump out of the water every 10 yards it seems.
