  1. Anyone know if the water has cleared up in the Buck Creek/Mill Creek areas? Last Monday and Tuesday there was about 1' of visibility and in some places farther north less than that. Headed up in the morning after work.
  2. Sounds like one hell of a day. Sucks the DD didn't make it to the boat! I'll be headed up this coming week (tues-thurs). Will post report when I get home.
  3. Fished Monday and Tuesday on the south end hitting Mill and Buck creek. Water was very stained. Best 5 both days 16-17lbs all on T-Rig senkos in Christmas tree color 5-10 FOW. Didn't catch any monsters, just some solid fish. Biggest went 4 1/2 each day. Lots of good deep grass in those areas. I did drag for crappie for about an hour each day with no luck. Weird that I didn't find any crappie. I was catching them in six mile about 3 weeks ago.
  4. I fished Friday and Saturday. Stayed in Mill Creek for majority of the time. All my keeper fish came on Berkley Frenzy Traps in the grass and slow rolling the in ditches and creeks. I picked up a nice 5 1/2 Friday but nothing big on Saturday. I tried and few brush tops with jigs and Carolina rigs with no luck on both days. Also tried a jigging spoon on some main lake points that were holding schools of shad. I did mark some fish holding with the bait but didn't pick anything up their either. I'm still debating on fishing the Rattle Trap tournament...anyone know if they're going to allow trailering?
  5. You never know LSU...you might just stumble onto a few good fish! With this weather staying warm for the next week I bet the big girls make a move up to shallower water. I'll be up this Friday and Saturday. I might fish it as well if I can come up with anything. I fished the Rattle Trap tournament on Rayburn and would have drawn a check if I'd have weighed in. Didn't thing 12.6 would have gotten it done and didn't want to take a beating to the weigh in for 12lbs...a mistake on my part. I'd have broke even for the weekend if I would have. I'll never do that again! Good luck!
  6. The weather is looking nice for next weekend! Hopefully some of the big girls will move up a little shallower and make for some excellent fishing. Hoping to make it out tomorrow and brave the high winds in the 6 Mile area and hit Housen Friday evening and all day Saturday. Will post report. Good luck everyone!
  7. Hello guys! Haven't been on in a long time. Kids and their extra curricular activities have kept my boat on the trailer for quite a while. Finally got to get the her wet Thursday and fished the Mill Creek area and didn't do very well. Picked up one fish about 6lbs around 10:30am off a brush pile on a 1/2oz camo jig backed with a Net Bait Paca Craw in green pumpkin color. I switched to a 1/2oz & 3/4oz Berkley Frenzy trap around 1pm with not even a swipe at it, then back to the jig for the rest of the day. Picked up a 10+lb blue cat out of a log jam in a creek bend. Thought I had one worth taking to certified scales till it surfaced. Hydrilla is thin till you get into the backs of the coves then begins to thicken up. North wind 15-20 kept me from venturing to 6 Mile and Housen. Anyone having success in the southern portions on the Texas side?
  8. Don't mean to get off topic but both of my HDS 8's went bad on me... anyone know if a place that can repair them for a reasonable price other than Lowrance. Got caught in a storm on The Bend and they haven't worked since. Highly disappointed in Lowrance. From what I read this seems to be an ongoing problem for them. Please HELP!
  9. Got a question for you gentlemen on deep water jigging... what seems to be the better way to present your jig? Do you hop it or drag it along the bottom? Do the seasons affect this method and/or type of structure you're fishing?
  10. Priceless tips Catt! I got a chance to do some scanning around millionaire point the other day when I lost my lower unit. Was gonna try to locate fish working the shad in the area with a jigging spoon while waiting on my tow but he showed up rather quickly.
  11. I was on the Texas side just south of Millionaire Point. Marker # is TX 75. I assume not many people in this thread venture that far north. I asked if anyone had tips/pointers for the Patroon/Palo Gouch area a few weeks ago with no replies. Good luck all and be safe.
  12. Tried to fish the bend last week...only to lose a lower unit to her in the boat lane might I add. Did manage a few small fish on outside grass lines on TX rig 10" worm. Anyone have recommend a shop to get me back on the water ASAP.
  13. I agree with your take on worm size Shaneus. The Mag II seems to be the mark on big worms. Green Pumkin is my go to color...especially working outside grass lines.
  14. If you love flipping grass start in Harvey Creek. Find where the old 147 roadbed comes through. Good deep creek channel and hydrilla along the roadbed and secondary points. Also look for some brushpiles along the channel bends on the flat.
  15. I'd contibute to a Rayburn topic. Have learned it quite well over the past few years. Still have more to learn though.
