  1. Thank you to point that difference out !
  2. Good way to turn a 6:3:1 reel into a 7:2:1 reel !
  3. Co-Poly is a great line option in place of mono as most non - FC “mono” lines are now co-poly any way .
  4. The Yum Christie Craw is a good football or swim jig trailer . Used by itself, I would try it on a shaky head and work it off the bottom with short hops then drag slowly a few feet and repeat or stroke it off the bottom then reel to create a gentle gliding action back down . While 1/8th oz. may work I would lean towards the 3/16th oz. weight to give those legs more action . *If you want to go weightless - there are better choices such as a Zoom Finesse Worm or Trick Worm .
  5. The Vicious Moss Green Braid certainly is priced right ! If it doesn't fade , handles well and is strong - then it might be worth a try ...
  6. The right Flik Shake weighted jig head is important - TW should have a selection in that useful approx. 1/16th oz. range .
  7. *Gary himself suggests the DC736C (Champion 7'3" XH/F) for frog fishing vegetation . Any signature frog rod users from the big names ? My current frog rod is a Dobyns Siera 735C which is fine for open water frog'n but probably just okay to use in heavier vegetation . This is one area where I am beginning to believe having a dedicated frog rod for vegetation may be best along with going with a two-frog rod set up to include open water frog'n .
  8. I’ve learned the hard way that a frog fisherman for bass need more than one frog rod : A heavy action rod for vegetation and a MH action for open water (sometimes a MH rod can work for sparse vegetation) . Also I usually associate frogg’n for bass with fast action rods (always with braid) but lately I see moderate action rods being used in videos with frogs which I find interesting - maybe if helps with the hook set delay … The above said , what are your current specific frog rods for vegetation as well as open water applications ?
  9. Zoom Super Fluke always worked best with a 4/0 EWG hook , try the new Gamakatsu Hybrid EWG hook as it has more hook gap resulting in better hook ups than most EWG hooks .
  10. Watermelon Red is especially good around grass in clear water .
  11. The Zoom Ultravibe Craw has a tighter vibration than many other craws - better for cooler water temps but will also work well in warmer months . In warmer water temps I tend to favor craws with a wider wobble / vibration .
  12. Most spinning rods used are in the ML to M - fast , extra fast camp ... Anyone use a MH F , XF spinning rod - if so , what technique ?
  13. Do you color the first several feet of yellow braid with a black / green Sharpee ?
  14. I’m using Power Pro #50 lb. braid in dark green as my frog fishing line gif bass . It’s not a bad braid - but there may be better braids introduced for froggin’ . What is your current favorite braid for fishing frogs for bass and what do you like best about the braid ?
  15. Thanks for posting Glenn - I’m a believer in these new Gamakatsu Nano technology hooks and hope Gamakatsu expands the line up further !
  16. While the Yamamoto Senko has great action on its own - a number of other soft stick worms have little to no action on their own and I believe need a little help to get those ends stick worm ends twitching a little more snd adding weight may help … I will experiment with wacky jig heads and wacky weights such as : VMC wacky jig head 1/16th oz. , Eco Pro wacky weight 1/16th oz. and a 3/0 or #5 split shot near the hook . I like the Yum Dinger price , colors and durability but they lack action when wsvky rigged and to me fall rather stiffly down through the water column when wacky rigged with the ends offering little movement .
  17. Quoting Tom here from past accurate logic : Pay attention to line diameter , not what pound test is printed on the lable ! Never exceed .010 inch line diameter on a spinning reel and you will be in decent shape with line handling - the rest is up to your individual preferences for line strength , line color , etc. I will end by saying that while I have to order it on-line , The Maxima Ultra Green is a wonderful line !!
  18. Some lower salt content stick worms (Yum Dinger) have better action if you can add a little weight to them near the hook . Specialty weights such as Eco Pro wacky weights are available , assorted weighted wacky jig heads with hooks and lastly adding a small split shot or a pegged small bullet weight near the hook may work . What method do you prefer when needing to add weight to Yum or other soft stick worms ?

  20. For pitching soft plastic stick worms , beaver baits , etc. for bass into and around vegetation - what is your current favorite 3/0 ~ 4/0 straight shank hook with a good soft plastic keeper on it ?
  21. I will still use a round (no ears !) split shot in sizes : 3/0 , #7 and #5 lightly crimped on the line . The more modern easy way is to use : small bobber stop , 1/16th oz. or 1/8th oz. tungsten bullet weight , followed by another bobber stop . This way you can easily move the weight up and down the line keeping the weight in place where you want it and never experience potential line damage .
  22. The Cage Feider is one expensive jig ! Please explain (other than being tungsten) why it is better than jigs $2 or $3 less ?
  23. I would imagine besides skipping jigs there are a fair number of jig fishermen pitching precisely to dock poles , dock corners , etc. ?
  24. What are your favorite brand / model jigs for pitching around docks (this may include skipping as well) ? Also favorite weights, colors and trailers as well … I imagine a good starting point would be 3/8th oz. , green pumpkin jug with a beaver or craw trailer as bluegill are the usual bass forage around docks ? I’ve not been much of a dock bass fisherman in the past (except wacky rig) but now I’m looking to up my jig dock fishing game as jigs can often get the bigger bites .
