  1. I have seen a trend where Sniper is more popular in less than 20 lb. test however over 20lb. test I have noted Bass Elite Pros are regularly using Invizx 20 ~ 25lb test for a number of applications ...Not Abrazx , not Sniper - but Invizx ...Go figure .
  2. Never heard of it - where to buy ? I just have coated my cork grips when new with a vinyl and leather protectant for cars - I let it soak in then wipe off the excess . Not sure if it actually helps or not ...
  3. Mike - I wanted to add that if you develop a football jig that hangs up less in rocks , it doesn't mean I will buy less of them . In fact , it will allow me to explore deeper into the football jig category with additional colors , sizes , etc. then just staying with 1/2 oz. Green Pumpkin and Black / Blue (because I lose so many of them) .
  4. Mike - If you are impressed with the new design (as it is now) over a standard football jig then I would be a potential customer for the popular weights and powder coated lead head is fine ... Any additional improvements you make is just icing on the cake !
  5. Big Bite Baits Cane Thumper cut down 1/2 inch to 1 inch ...
  6. Mike , for a football head to sit up at a 45 degree angle is plenty - if you want more stand up capability then there is always the Dredge Head ... Besides , a V&M Mud Bug or Z-Man craw will give you all of the floatation you can ask for in a trailer - but no trailer makes a bit of difference if your losing football jigs to rocks ! ... I am in the camp that wants you to stay the course to develop a football jig head that hangs up less in the rocks !! ... Also the recessed eye is a big plus as is the brush guard which should not be too stiff to prohibit a good hook set from a distance ... Moving on , a good barb to secure a trailer securely and a 2X hook that allows for a easier hook set at a distance (as football jigs are generally cast versus pitched)... Lastly offer a couple of different densities of wire wrapped skirts (rubber & silicon) as you do with the Meta and your other jigs - plus all the detailed colors you are noted for ! That should cover it ...
  7. Try flipping / pitching the Devil Spear with a pegged bullet weight into cover or rig it sideways (cut down slightly) as a jig trailer.
  8. Try flipping / pitching the Devil Spear with a pegged bullet weight into cover or rig it sideways (cut down slightly) as a jig trailer.
  9. The Arky style is a good all - around style jig but mainly used for pitching , dragging or bottom hoping . The Brush style head is best if you have stick ups or other obstructions you are trying to fish a jig through . If your not sure what you will encounter then you can't go wrong with a Arky style jig ...
  10. +1 ...Braid on a spinning reel with a fluro leader has it's place (jigs / worms) as does straight fluoro for drop shotting and shaky head ...Mono good for everything else - especially top water or any lure with treble hooks.
  11. All good replies - but for a Zoom Super Fluke you need a EWG 5/0 hook (4/0 is is small as I would go) . A Zoom Super Fluke Jr. takes a 3/0 EWG hook ... You want to clear the thick plastic and get a good hookset - that is questionable if the hook is too small .
  12. I would throw a beaver style bait in green pumpkin , green and purple flake on a on about a 3/0 EWG hook on 8lb flurocarbon ... cast out , let it slowly sink and twitch it every 3 ~ 4 seconds until it hits bottom - then dead stick it for 30 seconds ...Repeat as needed .
  13. Thanks for the replies ! ... I will give CXX 15lb. or 17lb. a try , if I have any issues my fall back plan is AbrazX 15lb. I use for jigs . * Big difference in line diameter though - CXX is stout compared to flurocarbon (Sunline , Seaguar) in the same pound test !
  14. Academy also has Berkley Trilene Big Game on sale for 50% less than the P-Line CXX copolymer ... Visibility is not a factor as water has been slightly stained for a while - more concerned with feel and stretch ...Anybody used Big Game as a C-Rig main line with success ? Or if you had to choose between Big Game 15lb. and CXX 15lb - which would be your choice ?
  15. Academy Sports has P-Line coplymer CXX line on sale this week ... Of the following line weight choices (12lb. , 15lb. , 17lb. or 20lb.) which would you use for the following C-Rig application / conditions : * NW Georgia Reservoir with smooth clay bottom and occasional scattered rocks (typical of Lake Lanier , Lake Allatoona , Carters Lake, etc.) * Target fish is Spotted Bass and occasional Large Mouth. * C-Rig application is closer to shore (max depth 15 ft. or so ). * Plan to use 1/2oz. ~ 3/4th oz. (as conditions dictate) steel egg weight on C-Rig with French Fry , Finesse Worm , Baby Brush Hawg , etc. ** I am not real experienced with using the P-Line CXX copolymer offering thus why the range of line weights I thought to consider ... I thought those with specific experience in using CXX for a C-Rig could chime in with what has worked best for them ?
  16. The jighead stands up well and can be rigged a couple of different ways - 1/2oz is a little heavy unless you are fishing deep .
  17. +1 BobP is spot on !!
  18. Anything in the Fitzgerald line that would make a nice football jig rod ?
  19. +1 ... Excellent example for using fluorocarbon line !!
  20. Florida has a lot of tanic colored water - can't go wrong with golld / gold flash colors and Junebug in soft plastics.
  21. Traditionally in the SE we rely on shakeyheads with either a strait tail roboworm or zoom finesse worms bottom hopping on a ledge . Docks or shady laydowns are good bets as well to throw a shakeyhead during the hot days later in summer .
  22. With hot weather day after day now moving into more heat in August - what is your favorite Dog Days of Summer tactic for bass ?
  23. Steel egg sinkers for C- Rig , for T - Rig I don't much care ... Lead up to 1/4 oz. is fine - I even like to heat 'em up and powder coat them to match soft plastics for fun .
  24. How bad could a Rocket Craw be on a football jig ?
