  1. +1 ...Cavitron is all you need to know .
  2. +1 ... The definitive drop shot worm !
  3. +1 ... It's the only method that will work with elastotech (Z-Man) plastic worm material .
  4. #8 Invizx or Sunline Sniper are what I'm considering for a 2500 series spinning reel .
  5. Berkley Havoc Pit Boss
  6. More frequent inspection of the business end of your set up - this will rule out a frayed line , suspect knot , etc. then you will know if something with sharp teeth is to blame ... #50 Power Pro should be ideal for the technique you are using ...
  7. Red hook is to simulate gill flash or bleeding , injured bait and often thought to give bass a target to key in on ...Usually comes more into play with crank baits where often a fisherman will change out the stock front treble hook to a red one ... Some have adopted the same technique for T-Rig worm hooks however it is probably less of an influence in a T-Rig application than for a crankbait / front treble hook application .
  8. Grantman83 : A-Rig makes sense now ...Glad to hear the 2.0 is not as stiff as the previous versions ... Lastly - it would make things a bit more clear if Abu Garcia listed suggested techniques / applications for these new 2.0 rods .
  9. I see TW just got in the new Sebile Action First Flat Belly Walker ... I saw this lure in a video from ICAST '14 - very unique top water and perhaps what could be the easiest walking bait available ...Nice color selection and priced right - I plan on trying ASAP in the 4.25" length .
  10. Additionally , I see the 7'11" Heavy casting rod is rated up to 1.5oz. while the 7'9" Heavy casting rod is rated up to 3 oz. ...It appears the 7'9" model is for punching thick mat while the 7'11" is more for general flipping ?
  11. For those using #8 fluorocarbon - any line handling issues on a spinning reel ?
  12. Thanks ForrestC88 ... Need to identify a good jerkbait , top water and spinner bait / swim jig / paddle tail soft plastcs rods within the new 2.0 Veritas line up .
  13. First , do you believe the Veritas 2.0 casting rods appear to be on the stiffer side of their stated ratings ? Secondly , with the exception of the Frog and Crank models - none of the other Veritas 2.0 casting rods mention suggested technique or application ...Anyone care to take a stab at applications / technique for the models between 6'6" - 7'3" what they are intended for ? ...I surmize that the 7'6" and 7'11" models are for flipping / punching ...It's the other models that I'm curious about regarding technique for popular applications such as : top water , jerkbait , worm , jig , etc. Thanks in advance !
  14. I have a small promo spool of Sunline Sniper 7lb. fluoro I am going to try first ... If I can't get that to work with a shaky head rig then no fluro probably will and I will switch to braid + FC leader.
  15. Not to threadjack - but never could figure out how to rig a regular Fluke (except nose hooking it) as the belly comes down to such a , thin , abrupt angle making it difficult to rig like a Super Fluke with a EWG hook ...What's the best way to rig a regular Fluke then ?
  16. +1 ... Seibert Outdoors - all you need to know .
  17. +1 ... Got to believe this is the best size under most conditions ...
  18. Thanks - I did find the Drop Shot model Sellus and I would call that ML Fast (not M XF as labled) ...Fine for drop shot and perhaps even lighter cranking - but a little to "whippy" for me to use as a shakey head rod . Still , a nice light rod though ...
  19. After additional reading I was amazed to see how many pros have switched from pure fluoro on their shaky head spinning rigs to 10lb. ~ 15.lb braid + 6lb. ~ 10lb. FC leader ... My short list of braids would be Sufix Performance Braid , 832 or Power Pro in the Super Slick 8 (or even standard PP) ... Now I am very interested in the Sunline SX1 braid which looks mighty fine for a shaky head + Sunline Sniper 7lb. FC as a leader ...Worse case , if I didn't like it I could always use it for surface baits or pitching & flipping to bluegills !
  20. Which Shimano Sellus spinning rod is the correct # for the shakyhead technique ? ... All sites I visit (including Shimano) say the Sellus line is technique specific - but none tell you which Sellus spinning rod is specific to shakyhead ? ...Two models of : "Worm & Jig" in the line up don't help explain eiter ... Thanks in advance !
  21. 8lb. fluoro was THE line to use for drop shotting - now braid as a mainline with a fluoro leader is becoming quite the deal ...Explain your setup : Braid to small Spro barrel swivel ? Line to line knot ? What line to hook , etc. ?
  22. I would try the uni to uni knot OR the Alberto (crazy) knot and see which you like best ...I use both with good results .
  23. I appreciate the many replies - most rods mentioned I have not researched before , so good to have additional choices to consider .
