  1. Looks like it would be a good braid around vegetation for swim jigs , frogs, etc.
  2. Good replies - a larger / wider bait cast spool does not appear to be as critical for frogging as does with say a deep crank bait where you want a decent retrieve speed as soon as the lure hits the water .
  3. Medium / Moderate rod plus #30 lb. Braid main line and a mono leader should work for both .
  4. What are the specific advantages of going to a brushless trolling motor ?
  5. *Would a standard 3/8th oz. ~ 1/2 oz. Arky style jig be the best jig style for stroking ?
  6. I believe a lot has to do with the design and development of finesse baits than ever before providing a lot more offerings for finesse style fishing .
  7. I have enough finesse worms - the Flat Worm , Crush Worm , Dream Shot style worms are next drop shot baits to try ... Sort of half worm / half bait fish . While Zoom regular Flukes get a lot of play with the drop shot - I hate the Fluke belly coming down to a point and trying to get a drop shot hook centered properly.
  8. It stands to reason that for a bait cast reel for frogs using 50 lb. ~ 65 lb. heavy braid - you need a high-speed reel with a good drag that holds a good amount of braid for making longer casts (without spooling out) . *What's your current bait cast reel for frogs that meets the above requirements ?
  9. Good replies , I happened to find a Berkley Bullet Pop 70 size in Black Chrome I bought yesterday that I will try out .
  10. While I like the shape of the Berkley Max Scent Flat Worm - I read mixed reviews if it's worth the price . What similar others have you tried with success in that flat worm / sculpin soft plastics shape for drop shot and had good success with ?
  11. ^^Under Appreciated^^
  12. My thoughts are for a sunny day a chrome color top water can be a good color to use IF your body of water has shad as a bait fish for bass in it . Conversely , if your body of water does not have shad and is primarily a blue gill / crawfish bait habitat for bass - then chrome may not be a good color for top water compared to say bluegill , bone or baby bass top water colors ... Your thoughts and experiences on using chrome color top water lures on lakes with no shad ?
  13. For a gaiter to fit a XL size head , check out the "Buff XL UV" available on - line .
  14. Zoom's Watermelon Candy color across all soft plastics -great bluegill color.
  15. It's a real balancing act to get a good 1.5 squarebill rod - provide enough stiffness for casting accuracy and lure deflection while being parabolic enough to keep bass buttoned up while reeling them in .
  16. Atta boy - Glenn comes through again with a top rate pro video !!
  17. Nice combo - what weight do you prefer in the Owner EWG Block Head above ?
  18. What is your current favorite squarebill 1.5 rod ? What are the main attributes you look for in a good squarebill 1.5 rod that won't break the bank (under say $175) ?
  19. Abu Garcia ,Daiwa , Lew's , Shimano in 6:3:1 gear ratio under $150 will serve you well ...
  20. What about hook size and type ? Some prefer 2/0 ~ 4/0 EWG hooks while others use 3/0 ~ 4/0 straight shank flipping hooks - your experiences ?
  21. Strike King Flashy Swimmer + Keitech Swing Impact Fat : 1/0 size + 3.3" 3/0 size + 3.8" ~ 4.3" 5/0 size + 4.8"
  22. Read where a recent Elite Pro downsized to a soft stick worm in 4" length to flip near shore vegetation (after no luck flipping with larger , more traditional craws and beaver soft plastics ). I thought this was interesting - do you flip simple soft stick worms in 4" ~ 5" and if so , what do you like ?in stick worms / set up ?
  23. Good video - but swimbait in the video is 3.3" (not 4.3") .
  24. More soft plastics in the Tilapia color for bass lakes where bluegill are the main forage .
  25. Netbait used to offer this Chartreuse Shad color in their finesse worms - great color for spotted bass in clear water !
