  1. Take notes of what worked and what didn't in different weather and water conditions. But to do this you have to fish a lot. I approve of reading too.
  2. 50/50 depends on my mood, where, and who else will be going. He will usually stay out of the water unless he gets too hot.
  3. How big of a sale is it?
  4. Catch a 5 pounder on my new rod! Get better at flippin & pitchin Join my first Bass Club.
  5. Thanks for the link Rooster.
  6. Should you replace the bearings on all your casting reels (assuming you paid north of $100), or once you get to a certain level reel are the bearings good enough not to replace? Thanks for your advice and sorry if this question has been asked before I did try to search and didn't locate a similar thread. - David
  7. Fayetteville, AR spent a lot of time on the White and Buffalo Rivers
  8. Evening everyone, Just wanted to take a moment and introduce myself. I have been reading articles and the forums for a while now and decided to take the membership plunge. I grew up fishing mostly rivers and ponds/tanks in the Ozarks. I am now loacated in Austin, TX and fishing mostly from tanks, local lakes and private lakes. Really enjoy my time I get to spend reading the forums. Thanks for all your contributions. - David
  9. This is great stuff everybody thank you so much for your time and help. I am going to continue to read everyone's suggestions and make a Cabela's run on Sunday.
  10. I grew up fishing rivers out of a canoe (for smallies & trout) and shore fishing ponds. I have a couple of spinning rods and reels. My friend let me borrow a baitcaster and rod to practice casting in the yard. I feel very comfortable with baitcaster for most types of cast at this point. I have been fishing about 70% of the time from the shore and about 30% from a boat. I am hoping to increase the boat time in the near future. Cover can very dramatically depending on what ranch or part of the lake I am on. As far as lures go: I usually find my self throwing plastics, topwater, spinnerbaits & crankbaits. I haven't got a chace to do a lot of jig fishing yet. But I have been practicing Pitchin/Flippin into a Home Depot bucket in the back yard, slowly but surely getting there. Thanks
  11. I have been getting into Bass fishing and I have been borrowing my friend's rods the last several months. Well my birthday is coming up and my wife, parents and grandma said they would each get me a rod for my birthday. So that will equal my first 3 rods for Bass fishing. What should I get (budget is $200 and below for each)? I would appreciate length and action recommendation first and foremost and then personal preferences for brands. Thank you for your help in this matter and all your help in other forums and threads I have read. - David
