    You are going to need some terminal connectors and a wire stripper/crimper, available at any hardware store.  I use terminal crimps, some use alligator clips.  Avoid the cheapest stripper.  They don't crimp for crap.  Spend a few extra bucks for a decent one.  For your settings, it will be worth your time to watch a couple videos.  There's thousands of variables in the settings, and you will get a good head start, and can then keep tweaking for you and your waters.

    There are a couple good comparison videos out there,  like
    I have a gt52 on my kayak and gt56 on my boat and I see a huge difference.   Difference between gt54 and gt56 is not nearly as great, based on the videos I've seen.... but there certainly is better definition from the gt56.

    I've got 4 or 5 different brands.  The only thing that differentiates is that the BPS ones blow.  The others are pretty much interchangeable.  If you're on the edge of two different sizes, I suggest go with the shorter one.  Too short is not a problem.  Too long is a problem.
