  1. I had been saving since last year..... (1) Lowrance Elite 4X HDI (1) Lowrance Elite 4 HDI (1) XPS 3 bank on board charger (1) Motorguide Pro 75# (1) Pro Qualifier 7.1.1 Also the Mrs. has now banned me from getting near BPS for the rest of the month....
  2. Gents, I second that notion on Valley Sports. Ron got my order together within an hour and I saved a ton of money! Now if I could get the wife to see it that way......
  3. I have both a SilverMax and BlackMax and have not had any major issues with them. I have found that just breaking them down and giving them a good cleaning, using Reel Butter and Abu Reel Oil should solve any problems. Remember its a $50 baitcaster, so don't expect $300 performance.
  4. Guys, Thanks for the information and suggestions, but I think I am going to let this one pass...I need more reels like I need a hole in my head.
  5. Does anyone know anything about the BPS Pro Qualifier 1000 XPS? I have searched the web and only really come up with old Ebay listings and other random things, however I have the opportunity to pick up 2 "Brand New" ( just never used, sat on a shelf) for $60. Just wondering if it is worth it?? FYI they are the round models.
  6. Hey All, Just a heads up, Gander Mountain is doing a rebate on all St. Croix rods at different price intervals. I believe it lasts until Christmas Eve....
  7. Came home from work one day and the dog had put a treble hook in her nose...let me tell you how fun that was explaining to the wife! BTW the dog is fine and still goes out on the boat with me
  8. 1. Pay attention to the seasonal pattern....don't assume it automatically it what the calendar says 2. Get offshore during the middle of the day when pressure is low 3. Don't be afraid to throw a bigger lure...
  9. As of now they are not in your budget but actually below it, would be the BPS Pro Qualifier (79.99) I have three right now sitting on Ducket Micro Magic rods and you will have a hard time making me get rid of them. I think a Pro Qualifier in a 7.1:1 Gear Ratio will definately work out well for you. Search around the site though, especially in the Rod, Reels, and Lines section for some other good advice. Go Big Blue!
  10. Have to agree with the PQ...Great reel for a great price, picked up two today and for deep cranking they have it down to a 4.7:1 GR
  11. Just a random thought, but Dick's has a Field and Stream Swimbait Rod that is 7'3" MH with micro guide for around $80. I have two and really have been impressed with the performance of the rods.
  12. Spent a lot of time on Lake Sutton in Wilmington and have to say it is my favorite in NC
  13. Hey all, Just joined and have been impressed with the amount of information on the site....Been fishing for about 15 years all over the US, but more recently in North Carolina. Just got out of the Marine Corps and am moving to Memphis for work, so I am looking forward to any information or suggestions about the area! Thanks, Dan
