  1. B.A.S.S did an article if I recall roughly a year or so ago about the many lbs of fish caught and the release I believe it may have been roughly % 92 or better survival rate .
  2. Where area you more specifically ?
  3. I could be mistaken , but aren't shoal bass only native to georgia , possibly alabama , tn ?
  4. I to also have the 705cb , it is a fantastic rod but not for what it sounds like you are wanting to use it for . my 705cb is for square bills and medium depth crankbaits , spinnerbaits and heavier jerk baits . I have ordered my 704cb for the same reasons you are looking for lighter lures . The 704 cb is perfect for smaller jerkbaits , spinners etc . Some other folks might suggest some other rod options .
  5. I fish alot using bucket hats , works great with my baclave , and glasses. However I have caused a few episodes with the cops . I was gearing up to fish behind a outlet in florida on vacation while the ole lady was inside shopping . Somebody called the cops thought I. Was about to rob the place. Little awkward turning around and finding new friends.
  6. I have had good success with them , tried them with the double fluke rig from gene on here just as something I saw on one of his videos . Tried them on a river near a bridge and rip rap . I found a new friend for aggressive spotted bass.
  7. I was getting the fish to stare and get deffensive with the finnesse approach but not committing. However with a chatterbait and craw trailer I would do small rips through the bed causing a reaction bite.
  8. Yeah I can understand that and your probably right , just frustrating setting the hook and realizing your missing 4 lbs plus fish on bed . I just thought maybe a light wire hook would do better kinda like a light wire hook on a heavy football jig .
  9. I am fishing different angles within several fallen trees in 3-4 ft of water and flipping then swimming the chatterbait all through cover and sunken logs , etc .
  10. As far as sharp hooks the lure is brand new . I figured the extra backbone would be the way to go , however I normally use the same rod application for my spinnerbaits . I am sight fishing for spawning females . I am slowly rolling over each log to then drop on the bed , I do not have a problem with finesse jigs with the screw lock to keep the snags down . They are picking it up and slowly turning but again I have a limited access for the fish to run so I have to do quick hooks set then start reeling fast , almost like a frog fishing hook set . The space limit is i guess where the problem lies therein so maybe a swim jig might be a better presentation provided I am not using a xx strong hook ?
  11. I am a huge fan of chatterbaits . I have been having really good success with spot remover screw lock skirted finesse jigs for bass on bed . However I have had good success with chatterbaits , but heres my dilema . I am pitching in confined spaces with medium to heavy sunken wood , so I have been using a 6 foot 6 inch rod with heavy fluro . I might just switch out for MY 7 FT medium heavy . But i'm having trouble driving the hook home , my question I guess is there a 3/8ths size finesse chatterbait that has a better hook up ratio ? As I am having trouble setting the hook on older larger bass .
  12. TINBOATS.NET .... Any thing you will ever want to know , learn etc .....
  13. Oddly enough , I was reading an old bassmaster magazine last night on custom paint jobs on crank & jerkbaits . I will see if I can dig up some links , they are expensive but man there is a very noticable diff in appearance .
  14. I have had some good success with them . As stated change out split rings and hooks , I upgraded and upsized to the mustard short shank 2x hooks . I am right with you on the higher priced jerkbaits , yet I always end up looking at them . Megabass jerkbaits look insane but the bills breaking is a definitely a no thanks . So it looks like I will eventually end up trying a few lucky crafts , but don't rule out the xcalibur EEratic shad , those have done nicely as well . I don't know if its the fact of they catch more fish or its just really affordable so I am willing to through it in places that a higher bait would make me cringe .
  15. So yea every year I vow no more black friday rush . Yet here I am again in line for a kids bike at walmart around 300 women .... I have learned a few things these last few years waiting in line . One thing I had no clue women talk about the things they did while I was there . And also $ 20 ain't enough money for the 4 hrs assembling a barbie castle on christmas eve night to only have your little one look puzzled and ask you why you are covered in stickers. So anyone else in my boat ?
  16. My usual heavy diagnostic charge is $90 how ever if you were paying for tear down time. then that makes sense .Just for the record parts stores don't diagnose they use a code reader . What your paying for at a shop is time and expertice. , however not all mechanics aren't created equal. My $ 15,000 dollar computer equipment is not the same animal as your standard code reader equipment . If you dont mind me asking what all was included for the $ 350 . Pm me I may be able to walk you through a check out your self and save you some christmas money.
  17. Last year my family did a cajun deep fried turducken
  18. I am in the automotive industry .As of lately I have been seeing alot of chrysler problems roll through the shop . I have never replaced a camshaft as a knocking sound . My suggestion is to pull the valve cover and manually spin the engine over and inspect for damage . Or possibly as the engine is running if you pull a plug wire off at the spark plug and the engine smoothes out at that point you have narrowed the cylinder down . In most cases I have had decent succes in installing a crank kit if it is bearing and or bottom end related. But sometimes a motor must be replaced .
  19. For what ever reason I was under the impression we were talking about the floating boat lift docks. Sorry been a long day.
  20. I have had decent succes with pitching small square bill crank baits and slow bumping or just ripping it in out around or under or a boat . Also skipping a fluke under the boat or around dock areas has been productive . Sometimes I have gotten bored and was simply skipping jigs , senkos , flukes in and around docks only to be get hammered with out me even paying attention.
  21. Im glad you found this . I will post this up in my from showroom at the goodyear I work at . I worked a location just right off the interstate , and the things you would see are disturbing . I would have to educate some people on why you would use certain tires and or the reasons for the conditions of the tires . Granted every now and then you would find some good ole boys who litterally had no clue . This video is packed with good info:
  22. Yeah my wife thought I had finally lost it . I was all over the housing turning all cell phones and computers off and re starting everything making sure it wasn't my service .
  23. Typical tuesday .... oddly enough my 4yr old told me since I have a beard I should be a lumberjack for halloween. I let it get long and it started to look like I lived in a cave.
  24. I don't know about everyone else but this time of year , but I am running and gunning , I to have had the same problem with finding bait but nothing happens . It can be very frustrating , with saything that I think you may have partially answered you question with using smaller finesse baits . Some times thats the difference in catching fish and not . When it gets tough I fall back on slowing way down and rethink my strategy . Now are you seeing certain water temps when you are catching fish compared to when you are not and what about the thermocline ? Also certain areas just about always I will find fish such as , rip rap , bluff walls or drop offs , humps etc . However when fish are on the move god only knows . Hope that helps anyways . Didn't think of this till now but is your lake turning over , if so you might find fish in other areas depending on which of the lake it has started .
  25. When stocking crankbaits I usually stock depending on water conditions. Natural selections on clear to lightly stained water . Other colors and or wide or tight wobbling depending on water clarity and water tempature . I also try and keep a log of what I get hits on , fish moods tends to change so I have to have a range . Also stock up on trebels.
