I organize everything but my plastics into Plano 3740s (Waterproof 3700). My plastics get organized into bags by type (creatures, flukes, craws, ect) and then put into another bag by color (Dark creatures, Natural creatures, Dark Craws, Natural Craws, ect) They then get thrown into a storage bin.
I use a 6'8 Medium St Croix LTB (rod in my profile pic). I acquired it January and used it extensively this season it has been one of my favorite rods for any bait that does not have a heavy hook that requires a lot of backbone to set the hook with.
1/2-3/4 oz for 15 FOW and 1-1.5 oz for 30 FOW
I would recommend fishing them with 14-16lb fluorocarbon. They do have some pretty stout hooks and the fluorocarbon helps keep it down a little more
Bladed Jigs are hands down my favorite bait to fish. I fish them year round as well. My favorite bladed jig has to be the Picasso Shock Blade. I love this one because it doesn't rise which can be an issue while fishing bladed jigs. They come in sizes from 1/4 oz-2oz so you can truly fish them any where in the water column.
When the water is cold I still fish them slow but I tend to use a little larger paddle tail swimbait than I would usually use.
Just a few things I ordered:
Sunline FC Sniper 16lb 660 yards x1
Lots of hooks
tungsten
A couple Ima Pinjacks 200's that I've been wanting to try
4 green pumpkin and 4 white Picasso Shockblades
Lots of Rage Craws and Structure Bugs
6 Strike King KVD square bills
4 Strike King Red Eye shads
3 Packs of Albino Flukes
A Couple packs of Zoom Ultravibe Speed Craws in misc colors
5 packs of 4.8 Keitech Swing Impact Fats in Blue Gill Flash
couple packs of Gambler Big Ez's
and a lot of misc stuff
I hated it. Way too much memory and was pretty thick. My favorite Flouro is still Sniper. My runner up after that is P-line 100% imo that is an incredibly underrated line that does not get enough attention.
It just always baffled me that even though they ran into the blank issue they just dropped it completely rather than designing a blank with different materials.
I can't imagine why it would be more than the current DX. Is there any news on what is different? From what I was able to tell it just looks like they changed the visual looks of the rod. Perhaps a better blank?
So many people complain that the DX isn't worth the money over the Orochi XX (even though a DX can be had for the same price from certain sellers) so I wonder if they are just trying to make it "worth" the extra $50.
I just looked at it at TT. Looks really nice. I very excited now. The rod/reel monkey has been behaving lately. I haven't bought a rod/reel since January. I think I'm going to hold off a while longer and I think my next pick ups are going to be a new DX744 and a 7'4 Heavy Legend Elite.
Life's gotten in the way of a lot fishing the past month and I haven't been able to keep up with a lot going on since then. I was browsing TW today and noticed the Champion Extremes are pretty much completely gone. So that got me thinking, will there be a new Champion Extreme or better...... the Zeta will finally be coming out?
I went on Dobyns website and couldn't find anything except that they are adding a 744 in the Champion series this spring. Which is pretty interesting to me that there will be a 734 and a 744 in the Champion line.
So does anybody know if there will be a new Dobyns? I was thinking of picking up one of the new St Croix Legend Elites but if Dobyns come out with something new that Legend Elite is going to have to wait for a while.
You need to make a sweeping hook set with football jigs. If you set the hook on a football jig like a flipping jig that big football head is just going to pop through the fish's mouth and you are not going to hook him.
For what it's worth my football jig set up is:
Dobyns DX744
Shimano Chronarch CI4 150hg
16lb Sunline FC Sniper
2-3 colors are all that's needed when fishing a jig. Green Pumpkin, Black and Blue, and a Brown. For a trailer just play around with it and see what you like.
