  1. Has anybody tried this line i have seen a lot of mixed reviews from it being real slinky and stiff to it be the strongest fluoro on the market. I was concidering getting 20lb for jigs. My main concern for this line was the stiffness but I dont think it should be that big of a problem if I use some KVD line and lure.
  2. I like D Bombs, Sweet beavers, and the netbait b bug
  3. I will almost always use 1/2 oz jigs with the only exception being swim jigs which i like in 3/8 oz. I like jigs in a 1/2 oz like others have said for casting distance as well as to keep it on the bottom. I like swim jigs in 3/8 oz because with that weight i can really manipulate it in the water column. For rods I like a 7"1 or a 7"3 MH but I think the most critical part in a jig rod is you want a fast tip or in some cases even an extra fast.
  4. Well this is my first "winter" since i moved here from SoCal 6 months ago but during the winter in SoCal the halibut bite is pretty amazing this time of year so i usually take a little break from bass but now that im here and theres ice everywhere id be happy if the ice melted and i only caught a minnow
  5. from the one time i used it so far it definetley stretches less and is a lot stiffer than invizx which is understandble knowing how it was ment to be used in situations you would get abrasion
  6. So i just played an experiment with the breaking strength of the san diego jam knot on 15lb invizx it averaged out to break at around 11.5-11.11 pounds does the sound right to anyone? When it comes to knots i am very concerned on strength because when it comes down to it landing a fish all depends on the strength of that knot
  7. i have been wetting my line but i think iy may be the line because it was some i had left from an old 1000 spool i bought at the begining of last year btw what is the most effecient way to test knot strength
  8. Does anybody have a diagram or any tips for this knot ive watched a couple youtube videos on how to tie it and when i then test the knot strength it tends to snap at the knot realitvley easy making me believe Im tying it incorrectly or making a simple error. If it some how helps i way using 17lb fluro to test the knot
  9. i like the koppers live target in black and yellow or a river2sea spittin wa in dirty white
  10. This year was the first year i started messing around with flurocarbons and by far my favorite was invizX. I have used abrazX once right before the lakes around here froze so i can not speak on how it feels yet but i was very hesitant to buy it due to many reviews saying they had breakage issues. But invizX i liked because it was soft, sensitive, strong, and for most flurocarbons out there it wasnt the most expensive but it wasnt cheap either and worked extremelly well. Since you said you would be using it for cranks, spinnerbaits and jigs I would probablly run 15-17 InvizX.
  11. paca chunks rage craws pit bosses Netbait B Bug
  12. This year i didnt get to fish much until summer due to having to move from SoCal to illinois so for the past 6 months ive had to experiement with the seasons since they are so different but i did manage to get a 7.1lb on a havoc pit boss and a 6 on some berkley powerbait swimbait. http://www.flickr.com/photos/106702598@N08/11723215233/ http://www.flickr.com/photos/106702598@N08/11723332594/in/photostream/
  13. I was looking for a rod for texas rigs around 3/8-1/2 ounce in size and possibly carolina rigs. I wanted this rod to be 7' so i was considering a 704 in either the champion or savy series.
  14. Recently i have been looking at Dobyns rods and im struggling to find the main differences between the champion and savy series. Last year i recieved a dobyns champion 735 as a birthday gift and absolutley love it and it makes me want to get another dobyns sometime this year. Ive done some research but i have hard the hardest time finding information of the differences and similarites between the two. Can anyone give me some info?
  15. I as well have switched from Abu to Lews the last 2 STX's i bought kept having issues with brakes and with the gears. But since i have switched to Lews i have had no issue. If you ask me there is no better reel in the $200 price point than a Tournament Pro I like shimanos as well and the Chronarch comes close but the smoothness of the Tournament Pro is just unbelivable
  16. personally i just use a cheap mono backing for all lines especially braid and fc due to them being expencive and to me just using a mono backing is easier than mono then braid and then your fluro.
  17. Ive seen people people drop them around docks before as well and it is pretty successful.
  18. I might try and put a trailer on it in okeechobee craw its a little different but something different can be good
  19. im getting two set ups in a few days which will be a 7'1 MH *** paired with a Lews Tournament pro for jigs My second will be a okuma guide select 7'6 H with a cardiff 300a for swimbaits
  20. I did the best this year on: 1.Squarebill 2.Swim jig 3.Frog 4.Havoc Pit boss 5.Shakey Head
  21. I realy want to start fishing swimbaits this year
  22. last month i caught a GIANT red ear slider on a spook, when he took it he jumped out of the water like a bass and i thought i had bass on until it stuck its head out the water
  23. in order it would have to be black and blue jig, pitboss in green haze, and a kvd 2.5 in sexy shad
  24. ive been looking on ebay and ive seen some crazy deals for soft plastics even though there mainy hand pored stuff but still ive seen stuff like 10 bucks for a bag of 100 senkos and 5 bucks for a bag of 50 creature baits identical to the strike king rodent. It looks like im going to need to start buying my soft plastics off ebay anybody else do so?
