  1. I use a Duckett MM 7' MH for chatterbaits i think it handles wonderfuly for chatterbaits and swim jigs
  2. Either a 12lb fluro or 12lb copoly i would even use a 10lb copoly if it was a thicker diameter line like CXX
  3. I love both the Super Duty and Tournament Pro aswell
  4. Squarebill: KVD 2.5 Lipless: Red Eye Shad Jerkbait: Any of the smithwicks and Spro McSticks Topwater: Heddon Super Spook
  5. It depends on how many other tackle stores are in your area. Where I am at Dicks is the only "tackle" store (until the gander mtn opens across the street next month) so they tend to have a lot nicer rods such as g loomis, higher end st croix, and i have even seen a couple cumaras pass by. So if there is no real competition in your area i would say dicks otherwise it would almost always be gander
  6. Thanks everybody i got an improved albright to work. This was the first time i put braid on one of my ducketts and i just dont feel comfortable without a leader. If it ends up causing me trouble i will probably just switch my set up around or who lnows it may give me a good reason to try a macro magic
  7. Does anybody have knot that easily passes through micro guides (such as the micros on a duckett) ive tried the double uni and the alberto and im just stumped.
  8. Yeah i was pretty happy to the only part i didnt like from it was the smell of all those dead fish
  9. Ice has been off for about a week now and I decided to go to a small lake where I can fish basically the entire thing from the bank. Today was the coldest day this week (around 35-40) and I was struggling to get a bite i had tried jigs, jerkbaits, plastics, spinners, etc when i decided to put on a white chatterbait with a white skinny dipper trailer. I went to a rip rap next to a bridge to see if i could get one who was trying to warm up on the rocks. I was reeling as slow as the blade on the chatterbait could "chatter" when I thought i was snagged on the rocks. I was tring to unsnag my bait when all of a sudden the "rock" began to shake. Baffled i began to crank down (never truley giving a good hookset which may have partly screwed me over) the fish came up and i thought i snagged a carp. When it came closer my jaw dropped it was the biggest bass i Have seen since i moved from California in June. The mouth on it was around the size of a medium bowling ball and was at least 10lbs no greater than 12lbs. She was right at the bank and since I was excited I made a huge mistake i cranked the drag down WWAAYY to tight. I got on my knees and stuck my hand in that cold water and just stroked her belly when all of a sudden my chatterbait shot out and hit me in the head and she slowly started to swim away. I dont think I have ever screamed the word NO so loud in my life...... On a side note i noticed on my outing about every single carp is dead there was at least 250 dead carp around the bank which makes me wonder if fishing there will improve because there was WAY to many carp there really overpopulating the lake. If any body wants to see i got a couple pictures from my outing in this link: https://www.flickr.com/photos/106702598@N08/sets/72157642974061354/
  10. nope i couldnt get it out you can by a screws from shimano for about a dollar
  11. I always hear people say how they dont like braid, ceramic bearings, etc due to noise. But does this actually bother you to the point you will not use certain products. To me I absolutley love noise. I think one of the best sounds is setting the hook with braid in heavy cover and it screaming through the guides as you wrench that fish in. Just thinking about that noise get my adrenaline going lol. So its hard for me to see how any one would hate it. So does it actually bother you?
  12. Duckett has a very nice warranty I had one break a few years ago and the replaced it no questions asked. I ordered a *** around Christmas and upon further inspection i noticed the guides were in horrendous condition (they looked as if they got in a fight with a hammer) at first they said they dont replace rods due to guides but after explaining that I have never even used the rods they were willing to replace it. They just called me today and told me they saw got my rod (its a 7'1 MH) and said they would replace it because there was no way those guides could be fixed. They told me they didnt have any 7'1 MH at the moment and asked if i would be ok with a 7'3 MH instead and i said I was (I originally wanted the 7'3 MH) so i am very pleased with their customer service and warranty.
  13. I like Power Pro, Suffix 832, and Sunline FX2, Most of my rods have Power Pro because it is affordable and really strong. But I really do like Sunline FX2 it is a dollar cheaper than 832 and i think just as strong. I think the color on FX2 last longer than most braids as well IMO
  14. I use to catch them on a spinnerbait all the time but now i cant. Instead of throwing a spinnerbait now days i just throw a chatterbait and that will always work instead of the spinnerbait
  15. Definetley a Powell that would be the best bang for your buck
  16. I have some laying around so i well try this but should i mix the black and red bottles still or just use the red hardener bottle because all i need it for is to quickly remove the screw not for it to stick for a long period of time
  17. Yeah it is graphite. The reel is a Chronarch. Who knew one little screw could give you so much hell lol.
  18. Late last night at around 3 a.m i thought it would be a good idea to clean a reel right before bed. Needless to say i stupidly stripped a screw pretty bad and can not get it out. Normamly i would just drill the screw out but since its on a reel i obviously cant do that. So does anybody know how to get them out?
  19. Before I found his jigs i always used Dirty Jigs. But his jigs are a lot better the hook is sharper, the skirts dont fall apart, you can really get "the perfect jig" from all the color, size and style options, and to top all that off they are a lot cheaper than dirty jigs and many other jigs from all sorts of companies
  20. I always get a good laugh watching people use spinning reels "backwards" Just like in the picture
  21. I was just browsing through rods on TW today and i noticed the Premier and Mojo were around the same price point and got curious what the differences were. I noticed the use the same materials in their blank and that the premier uses a full cork handle while the Mojo uses split grips. So what is the big difference between the two? I am quite interested.
  22. Jigs and squarebillls i love them because you can throw them almost anywhere. Hopefully by the end of this year i can say swimbaits as well
  23. I didnt think about the internal part. Darn I thought I would have "solid gold" reels
  24. I would go with a 6'6 Micro but I havent held a Ghost yet or seen many reviews on them since they just came out so I cant say much of them
  25. I have a few Micro Magics it is hard to shop online for them due to that reason but when you feel them in person you just know its the one. Its kinda hard to explain lol. But even though it is hard to to find a "technique specific" rod from them it is definetley worth it they are some of the most versatile and sensitive rod I own and they are quite powerful rods
