  1. I don't believe they make the Macro Magic Rods any more but they kinda made the Terrex the new alternative. I have both Macro Magics and Terrex and the Terrex seems to have more back bone with a soft tip. I have the Rojas frog model 7' MH and it is a great frog rod but also a good spinnerbait/chatterbait rod. Hope that helps.
  2. If you get into contact with them there probably is just a fee for being in the club and depending if you are a full time student you could fish FLW or BASS. Those are some developed clubs so theres probably more to it but for my schools club we have a few part time members that just fish club tournaments and we have a $30 entry fee and have certain things you have to do as part of the club. Hopefully you can get into contact with someone.
  3. Stop up at Chautauqua to. Some good smallmouth fishing in the fall.
  4. By paying there entry fee.
  5. Does anyone know when they usually release the schedules for next year? I thought it was around September.
  6. I have a 7'mh Duckett and a 7'h Kistler Magnesium that I use for frog fishing. And I will say the duckett may be a little pricey but I've found it perfect for my frogs when throwing them around cover and docks. My Kistler I use for thick vegetation. For some frogs I would recommend Snag Proof's Ish's Fat Frog or Bobbys Perfect Frog.
  7. I've been thinking the same way lately. Sometimes I don't know if Im trying to be versatile or just junk fishing. And with that I've just stuck with my strengths basically grind ing it out. It may not be the most suitable tactic but if I'm just fun fishing I will try new techniques and baits so I can learn but if I'm fishing a tournament I just can't convince myself to try something new. But at the same time I've been getting better at the things I love to do like frog fishing, flippin. So for me Im just trying to fish my strengths and improving on them. Lots of people have told me fish what you know now because the better you get you will recognize when to use it or not and will be easier to try something else. I've found it difficult going to some lakes and fishing what the locals say or what everyone else does so I try to fish what I feel would be best and at times it has paid off. So I guess for now or this year I have just been improving on my strengths, because I didn't feel they were good enough in the first place.
  8. It's been awful for me to. Biggest weight in a tournament I've seen around where I fish has been like 7lbs. Hard to believe especially since me and my friend went out there last season and caught a few 15lb bags.... Currents to fast and the water is chocolate milk. I can't figure it out this year.
  9. I have a Minn Kota Maxxum 80 thrust trolling motor and am having problems with it running. It will work but vibrates out a lot more than it should and will stop out of no where. But when you pull it up and drop it back down it works again. I think it is the armature or the bearing thats on it, has anyone ever had this problem? And if it is the armature I noticed you can buy the parts but is it something that is relatively easy to fix on your own. Hopefully I posted this in the right forum. Thanks
  10. Wow great posts guys!! I got more than I expected thats for sure!!
  11. I feel pretty ashamed of myself for this being from Ohio because some of the lakes I fish have a lot of grass but I'm not very experienced with fishing weed lines. I've caught fish on them and usually my main baits have been crankbaits, I've also had success on texas-rigged Rage Craws. But my question is what sets one line apart from another? I know fish tend to stack up and when you find one its common to catch another. For this time of year especially which weed lines would you guys mainly approach? Clear or dirty water? in which depth ranges? And what have you guys had success using? Any info would help! Thanks
  12. I broke my Pb record already which I haven't done for a few years. My other goal was to qualify for the FLW College National Championship, still trying to make the invitational right now.
  13. Just had the same situation recently, was debating on Costa and another pair of Oakleys and decided on Costas. Should of switched to Costas much earlier, amazing glasses!!!
  14. NBCSN and its only been on once this year at like 3:30 on a Monday I think. I think there is a schedule on FLW's website. They always seem to take a lot longer than the Bassmaster shows.
  15. If you just email/call they will say just send it and a check for $50.
  16. I think I've made my decision and I'm going with the Costa Corbina's 580p with Amber lenses. Tried them on today at a local store and loved them, other than Ebay is there any other place that may offer them for a little cheaper price? Thanks
  17. The Chicago Blackhawks Bryan Bickell....He was even on Facts of Fishing.
  18. Hard to say North end is better, but depending on how you like fishing the lake flows north to south and the north end is clearer. South is a little more stained and when I was there the South had a little more vegetation. There are a lot of rocky areas on the lake, North end may have a little more with the mix of rock/sand/grass. As of lures I was bed fishing with a white Rage Craw, for any other baits I try to keep it to natural colors up North and some flashier colors on the South end. Didn't find many on docks, I don't think that there is much to hold them there this early unless there is a bed under it. So as of right now Id stay more on the North end, don't be surprised if you hook into a few muskies!! Hope that helps and good luck!!
  19. The scale I used was the Accu Cull scale. Tested it multiple times and it was actually an oz heavier. Believe me I had to keep weighing that fish just to be sure. The picture doesn't do it justice!!
  20. I know those smallies were very solid!! Hope to get out there in a couple weeks to hopefully finds some more on beds if the weather stays good for a while.
  21. So far Costas seem to have the upper hand, thanks for the help guys!
  22. I was actually there today with my dad and we also caught a few small muskies on jerk baits. But these smallies we caught bed fishing... His weighed 4.83lbs and mine weighed in at 6.52lbs, a new PB for me. Couldn't hook into to many largemouth but we stayed mostly on the south end and couldn't find the right water temp. Overall though pretty fun day!!
  23. Im in the market for a new pair of sunglasses. I have a pair of Oakley Half Jackets and they are great fishing but would like something a little better especially for bed fishing. Looking into both Oakley's and Costa's, so which pairs would you recommend or which lenses? Thanks
  24. Just started getting into listening to podcasts and so far I've been listening to Bass Squad Radio and the FLW one.
  25. I'd say you're leaning in the right direction with Ducketts!
