  1. Hey man I was looking for info myself and was wondering how your trip went?
  2. This is a really great post. It has gotten my interest peaked, I hope to get chance to bring the yak out that way and try for one of those. They have really beautiful markings. I have caught a few bowfin which fight like an anger pit bull. If you were planning a trip what time of would be the best. Is there any campgrounds in the area. Thanks Darrell
  3. Many Thanks to Larry C for putting me in the location to catch my first Peacock, and for coming out with fiends to fish with me while I was down. Darrell
  4. Many thanks to Larry C, I made it to Fla. last week and got a change to fish with Larry and a couple of his friends. An enjoyable group to spend the morning with, After struggling to get my rhythm on the FL fish I finally caught a couple of LMB and one small pea, I hope to get back to fish with Larry again. Darrell

  13. Hey guys, I am from the foothills of NC. Planning a trip to the Keys at the end of May I am flying in to Ft. Lauderdale on the 24th and have a fishing trip out of KW on the 27th. No firm descisions on where to stay or what to see in between. I would like to catch a Peacok while I am in the area. I usually get up early enough to get a couple of hours of fishing while the missus sleeps in. I am not wanting directions to anyones honeyhole, but I would like some ideas of places to fish without winding up somewhere that I shouldn't be. As well as any adivce of what to throw. I am bring 2 med action 4 pcs rods 1 spinning, 1 casting and a small bag with some shallow cranks, Xraps, spinner/chatter baits, and a couple of frogs. Any and all advice is appreciated, (fishing or tourist) and if someone would like to fish with me that would be even better. Thanks Darrell

  15. Hello all, I am late getting around to an intorduction, I have been reading some posts from the side lines and enjoying the site. I fish from bank, yak, and boat mostly in the area around Hickory NC. I do some smallmouth fishing on the NC part of the New River, and had to the mountains once and awhile to chase trout. So if there is anything that I can answer or help with in this area please let me know. Darrell
  16. Hey Larry C. I am coming down to the Miami area for a vacation the end of may. I would like to spend a few hours fishing with you if we could work it out. Not a bit of hippie in me, just some NC foothills hillbilly. Seriously I am packing a couple of rods with hopes to get a chance to catch a peacock one of the days we are down there, I have already gotten a guide for a trip out of Key West so the fishing budget is pretty much shot. If your ever up this way on a mountain trip i will gladly repay the kindess with a trout, smallmouth trip or both. Darrell
  17. I mounted my transdudcer in Plumbers Goop 2 years ago and it has worked perfectly. I put it under the front hatch. Surface temp readings may not be excat but the plastic seems to change with the temp fairly quick. I made a resivior out of the top ring of a plastic cup, taped it into position, and so that the Goop wouldn't leak through. put the goop into the cup so that there are few or no bubbles then stick transducer into the mixture so the it is coevered at least halfway. Tape, prop or figure how to hole the transducer still for 24 hours and your good to go. remove tape and rig. I carry the battery in an old fishing bag big enough to put the finder in when it is not in use. Everything stores in the bag with only the cord to the transdudcer ccoming out after it is ipped up. On my drifter I was able to add a caribiner to the bag so that it doesn't slide around much while i am moving the yak. Darrell

After fishing with a friend and Bass Resource member, last week, I decided to check out the forum. Looks like a good descision. I mainly fish the Catawba River lakes from Rhodhiss to Mt. Island, but do some river/creek trout and smallie fishing as well. Any info that i can help you with feel free to ask. Darrell
