  1. Any reason for not being interested in a Mojo? I recently picked up the mlxf of the new Mojos and have been nothing but impressed by the rod for the price.
  2. I was throwing a devil horse all the way down to a mini baby pop x and I had no buoyancy issues.
  3. I was slinging a 3/8oz prop bait on a 6' rod rated from 3/8 to 1oz just as far as I needed to to keep off skiddish smallies. My interpretation of this question would be to get comfortable with a certain rod and reel with that particular bait and don't try and out cast your effective hook setting range.
  4. Great looking combo. I haven't fished that avid x, however I just picked up the sc3 Mojo drop shot rod (only 1 inch longer) and I can say I'm seriously impressed for the price. Same graphite, don't know where it's made, probably Mexico, but none the less it left a fantastic impression on me. I had it paired with a 30 size LE president and felt the balance was just fine. I was fishing tip up techniques with it for about 8 hours and was never fatigued. Just wanted to throw out my 2¢ if it can save the next guy some cash.
  5. I use it exclusively on my spinning reels now. I had a 3lb14oz chunk wrap herself in vegetation and the 6lb hybrid held on while I could make my way over and fish her out of the slop.
  6. John, how are you liking the shaky head rod? I'm thinking the Ronin for a general medium power spinning rod but I've heard good things about the shaky head too.
  7. That's pretty impressive, nice work.
  8. Comparing the same stick through the two different lines isn't exactly apples to apples. The Levante TV is a fast action rod where as the XX version is labeled as a more moderate action. Now just to prove that you can't judge a book by its cover, I was pitching a 3/8oz jig with it and it felt like a fast and did the job extremely well. I'm going to throw some heavier bladed jigs on it and see how it handles.
  9. If anyone has fished the Evergreen Heracles Leopard and can chime in with how that rod fishes could be beneficial to this thread I think.
  10. I would try to handle the rods before you purchase. I know it's not always an option but it can sway your decision. I personally dislike glass rods.
  11. Orochi XX TV with a TDZ
  12. They're nice, used to have a couple when I ran shimanos. Probably a cross between being discontinued and just how much they were adored when they were in production.
  13. I don't want to beat a dead horse but I'll throw in my two cents for Hawgtech. After I bought my first I was hooked. To each their own, but they definitely work for me. The 102mm on my Zillion Type R is fantastic for frogs and flipping and pitching.
  14. Holy cow, that's insane. Good pick up man.
  15. Nice pick up, I finally grabbed a NIB Zonda myself. Which rod is yours riding on?
  16. I caught my PB on a chronarch e7 throwing a 1.5 on a mojo spinnerbait rod. If that doesn't debunk some tech-spec myths I don't know what will!
  17. ^^ what he said. If I still had my champions the spinnerbaits and chatterbaits would be on the 34 and the swim jigs on the 33. Just my personal preference for how everything felt and handled.
  18. Very nice indeed! I've been on the lookout for a JDM model I'm interested in for a while now. Nice snag
  19. The classic is really like the super bowl. Still considered last season. I bet he has at least one on the deck here on out.
  20. The DSR has been called a shorter EMTF but it's also the opinion of some that it is a slightly slower action. Take that how you want, just the opinions of some other people.
  21. And they don't show all the models all the time either. They probably only have HS pictures of the Type R instead of the XS
  22. That pic above is the Type R with the purple retainer
  23. And don't get me wrong, I think purple is awesome on reels. But does a purple but retainer make sense on a black/red reel? I know I'd swap that straight away.
