  1. Gonna try it this weekend. Its going to be about 90 degrees and muggy. Do you have to have good visibility and rocky bottom for it to work? Will fish hit the Ned rig on the fall like a wacky rigged stick bait? I have green pumpkin and picked up Mud Minnow color as that was the only one avaialble at tackle store.
  2. I am thinking of getting into Kayak Bassin...Do you get wet easily with the Ascend D10? Wondering because up here in WI I would like to get out as early as May and then would fish into September, the water can get awfuly cold. From what I read SOT is the way to go...but again I would be 100% green on kayaking. Thanks for any advice.
  3. Haha that is awesome. I was planning on doing the same thing. For some reason there is a voice in the back of my head that keeps telling me I need more lures and a new rod...weird.
  4. Anybody use X-Factor Bomb Lure 10"? On sale at Gander Mtn right now. I have never used a 10" worm or BPS worms, just Berkley 7" love Tequila Sunrise up here. Side question; What hooks to you guys use for 7" or 10"? I have heard getting away with smallest 1/0 or 2/0 worm or EWG is the best? Thanks,
  5. What type line do you throw them on? Also, is there a particular rod length/power you like to use? I too, will be trying to get into bladed swim jig fishing as well as spinnerbiat fishing this spring. Thanks!
  6. Hey guys, I won this Hard Hook Spinnerbait on ebay and won it for $3 free shipping. I am not finding much info through google searches on them. Anyone have any expeience with these spinnerbaits. It was listed as unfished. This spring I am going to try and gain confidence with spinnerbaits up here in Northern, WI. I would think this would do good in stained to muddier water?
  7. Sounds good, thanks for the help. I think I will be picking one up in late February and will by seat cushion. I will let you guys know how it turns out.
  8. Hello, I will be purchasing my first Kayak this spring. I really cannot afford too much and saw this one at Farm and Fleet. I will be fishing lakes and rivers in northern wi. I have never kayaked before. I am 5'5" about 145 so I thought this small one would fit good. Also wondering about SINK vs SOP for a beginner. The Sun Dolphin 10' SS seems like a combo of both. Any opinions on this or suggestions are appreciated. I could probably afford to spend an additional $100 to $150. Thanks! http://www.farmandfleet.com/products/822998-sun-dolphin-journey-10-ss-sit-on-kayak.html#.VIxBJlhOKK0
  9. Thank you for the suggestions. I have yet to order them, I am waiting for my next trip down to Madison, They are building a new Cabellas down there. I think I am going to go with St. Croix Mojo Bass 6'8" and Lew's Tournament High Speed TS100H.
  10. Thanks for the suggestions. I am going to have to check around locally as we do not have BPS around here unfortunately! The carbonlites sound nice. I have $200 gift card to Scheels Outfitters so I am going to see if they have anything on sale right now as their online site is atrocious. All the suggestions give me a good starting point. Would anyone recommend medium-light rod; those are the only power I can fine for the Abu Garcia rods in that length range.
  11. This summer I fished the wacky rig almost exclusivley and had a blast. We caught bass using 5'6" Ike the Dude Combo, 6'6" St Croix Triumph and 7' MH Vendetta. I liked using the smaller rods more so. I want to now purchase a nice rod/reel combo that is light and fun to fish with; reel less than 8.0 OZ. A nice setup to me is around $200-$250 total. I was considering the following three rods; I do like Abu Garcia and Saint Croix products, the reels I have used are Abu Garcia, Pfleuger Priesident(really like) and cheaper Lew's reel which I like but is on the heaver side. Any suggestings for a Wacky Rigging setup would be great. Abu Garcia Veritas Spinning Rod; 6'9", Medium-Light Extra Fast $79.99 St. Croix Mojo 6'8" M-Power Extra Fast $109.99 St. Croix Rage Spinning Rod, RS68MXF $149.99
  12. Would you guys also throw Bladed Swim Jig/Chatterbait this time of the year? I seem to have dismal luck throwing spinnerbaits, I did catch one nice Northern but no bass ever on a spinnerbait.
  13. I was wondering the same thing last year. Switched 2 of my spinning set ups over to braid and will probably never go back to mono. You will get wind-knots from time to time but overall the positivies outway the negatives. personallly I like PowerPro but Suffix 832 is also good. I like one posters suggestion, try it on 1 setup first and go from there. More recently we have been using straight braid throwing weightless wacky stick baits. It may be in my head, but I defintiely feel the bite more with braid then mono. Also, the hooksets have been great and have not broken any fish off or lost any once hooked. The lakes I fish are stained so a dark green braid doesnt show up much so I dont even bother with a leader.
  14. Dark green both in PowerPro and Suffix 832 have seemed to work fine for me this year.
  15. This is not true. -If you shop around and find deals you can get quality gear for at or udner that mark. I picked up the GSX Elite Combo from Gander this spring for $89.99 and it does just as well as my ABU Garcia Revo Sx/Veracity combo($300+) -So just look for some deals, search for reviews and figure out exactly what you want for what application.
  16. That is what I went with, I will be putting it to the test this weekend.
  17. I used regular 2/0 Gammy EWG in red and killed em last weekend and suprisgnly did not get many weeds. I didn't lose a single fish once hoooked up.
  18. I was wondering what brand/lb braid you guys would put on this spinning set up: Pflueger President 6930(Mono Capacity is 6lbs/145) on a 6'6" Medium Action St Croix Triumph. I will be using it primarily for Wacky Rig; I was thinking 10-20lb test braid. I have braid on a bigger reel and 7ft medium heavy Vendetta that I like so just wondering if I should downsize for smaller reel and rod. Thanks!
  19. I have had decent sucess with VMC Ike Approved Weedless Wacky Hooks. Lakes I fish are full of weeds now so I need the hook to be weedless.
  20. In your guys experience when are prime conditions for frogging? Sunny vs overcast and with that what color frog for which time? I have read top-water is best for early morning and towards dusk, but in my limited frog fishing late last summer, we were getting blow ups in middle of the day? Can you guys add any insight? Thanks
  21. Thanks guys. That is what I was what I was thinking. I was throwing a Red Eye Shad...pretty decent casts but I didn't expect to see the mono that quickly...I will take it back and see what they can do for me. Wayne- I have no idea other than he told me he "thought he could make it work"
  22. So I had Gander Mountain split 150 yds of 20lb PP braid on my spinning and bait-caster. I think the guy neglected to put enough braid on the spinning reel. After about 3 casts I would feel a violent smack and my lure would fall short...I looked and could see the brad was running out and catching on the mono to braid knot that was tied. My spinning reel is a Lew's Speed Spool and has its own spool for braid with rubber in middle, should I go back and have them re-spool 10lb Power Pro and not use any backing? First time with braid on spinning reel and I want to stick with it. Not sure if it was the lack of braid they put on there or the knot the gentleman at gander put on, it just kept catching on it, sometimes even before getting down to just mono the knot would stick through the braid and get hung up 10 yds during cast.. The first 3-4 cast I did get decent distance of 40-50 yards.
  23. Hope its not lower turtle lake just kidding, best of luck when you are up this way. What do you guys suggest using in early on just after Ice Out for LMB? I will be going fishing this weekend for opener as the most the areas I fish up here the ice just dropped within the past week. I am thinking lipless cranks, swim jigs, flukes and maybe bigger profile flippin/pitching jigs?
  24. Awesome, thanks guys!
