  1. so if i want to go back to braid, its 30lb to be the same diameter to 8lb mono? correct? also the bantam is my 2nd favorite, so that makes sense that it is close to the spinning reel in IPT.
  2. thank you in advance for reading my post. so, and it may be me, i caught 1 fish, maybe you guys can help me understand why this happened I took 4 rods and the multiple problems i had were after fishing this for a while, 1. the line started to create a groove/dip in the center of the spool - eventually when reeling all the line went to this point and then i got a bunch of knots and the line got tangled. 2. i was throwing 15+ crankbaits and when I switched to a shallow runner the line backlashed - i could not get the back lash out. The lesson I learned was to tighten the spool control mechanism when going to a lighter crankbait. 3. on the spinning reel the line kept unspooling so my question - I wonder if I need to go to a heavier line line, I have used 17lb and didnt like the feel, i dropped down to 12lb, then 8lb. I may try 10lb flouro - would that help with the groove problem on the lines? below is the actual setup for each rod and reel and the problems specific to each setup 1. Quantum IR3 5:2 to 1 (LH) 8lb flouro / Tenacity AP TENAPC661M / lipless crankbaits - after fishing this for a while, the line started to create a groove/dip in the center of the spool - eventually when reeling all the line went to this point and then i got a bunch of knots and the line got tangled. 2. Daiwa PL-100 RH 4:2 to 1 ( 10 lb mono) / Daiwa Heartland X HL x 76THPB / for topwater and spinnerbaits - in using the rod, i was throwing 15+ crankbaits and when I switched to a shallow runner the line backlashed - i could not get the back lash out. The lesson I learned was to tighten the spool control mechanism when going to a lighter crankbait. 3. Sigma bcb 5:1 to 1 (RH) 8lb flouro / BPS PQT1070MHT IM8 / shaky heads - same as #1 the line started to create a groove/dip in the center of the spool - eventually when reeling all the line went to this point and then i got a bunch of knots and the line got tangled. 4. Shimano Bantam curado cu 201 LH ( i think its a 6:1 to 1) 8lb flouro / BPS PQT1070MHT IM8 / bass jigs - i actually changed to swimbaits and this is what I caught the 1 bass on. My Abu Garcia Cardinal 101 5:1 to 1 (spinning reel) 8lb flouro / BASS Pro Shops Crankin Stick cs762mt-t / crankbaits, i reallly like the feel of this combo. - the line kept unspooling - any idea?
  3. thanks for all the info, I am going fishing Sunday (more than likely), will report back with results.
  4. just an update to the above post, I did not know if I needed to start another post, but since I am the OP, I thought it would be okay to just add to this post. I bought 2 more rods, rarely used, I know I got a great deal on but I am having trouble finding info about them. They are both BPS PQT1070MHT IM8 rods. Anyone know what it was sold with? As I stated in other posts, I have always fished with live bait, and this year i am really getting into not fishing with live bait. I spent the summer fishing with everything under the sun. Now that summer is over, I feel very educated but still need some advice. to add to the above post I corrected (updated it below) what i now have set up Quantum IR3 5:2 to 1 (LH) 8lb flouro / Tenacity AP TENAPC661M / lipless crankbaits Abu Garcia Cardinal 101 5:1 to 1 (spinning reel) 8lb flouro / BASS Pro Shops Crankin Stick cs762mt-t / crankbaits, i reallly like the feel of this combo. Sigma bcb 5:1 to 1 (RH) 8lb flouro / BPS PQT1070MHT IM8 / shaky heads Shimano Bantam curado cu 201 LH ( i think its a 6:1 to 1) 8lb flouro / BPS PQT1070MHT IM8 / bass jigs Daiwa PL-100 RH 4:2 to 1 ( 10 lb mono) / Daiwa Heartland X HL x 76THPB / for topwater and spinnerbaits any advice of the above will be greatly appreciated. Daiwa Heartland HL 701MHRB
  5. I grew up being an Auburn fan, I still consider myself Auburn but I watch or listen to every game both Alabama and Auburn, I delivered pizzas for about 10 years and I learned it helps to know who is playing and doing what.
  6. I updated my location, I am in Hayden, but it is called Blount Springs or Mt High, going toward Corner.
  7. thank you guys for all your help. Very knowledgable set of folks you are.
  8. After researching the norman lure, i found that some of them are from the N series and are 8-10ft ( I think the lures are over 10 years old) all these lures look the same to me, how do you identify them? is is body style? are all the lips the same (small lips are 3-5ft, smaller are 0-2ft, etc.) for all crankbaits across the board? i f one brand is small lip and it says for 0-2ft does that mean a lip of the same size on another brand will also be 0-2ft?
  9. ok, thank you to all the great people with their knowledge helping me identify what I actually bought, here is my last pic. My next question, do I categorize them according to depth or brand or both?
  10. that was quick, thank you for your knowledge, I will post my last crankbait picture, followed by an overall picture of all that i bought. thanks again for all yall's help. i also made a post in rods and reels of what the rods and reels i got trying to pair them up to help me fish more in tune with the tackle i gor.
  11. I have some rods and reels that I would like help to see if they "fit" for crankbaits, spinnerbaits, bass jigs or artificial lures. the reels I have to work with are: Quantum IR3 5:2 to 1 Abu Garcia Cardinal 101 5:1 to 1 Sigma bcb 5:1 to 1 Shimano curado cu 201 (but I do not know the gear ratio) Daiwa PL-100 ( I do not know the gear ratio) The rods I have to work with are: Tenacity AP TENAPC661M ( I cannot find anything about the rod action) Daiwa Heartland X HL x 76THPB ( I cannot find anything about the rod action) Daiwa Heartland HL 701MHRB ( I cannot find anything about the rod action) BASS Pro Shops Crankin Stick cs762mt-t ( I think I have the right information) Action: Fast Line Weight: 8-17 lbs. Lure Weight: 1/4 - 5/8 oz I wish I could contribute more information and I hope you guys can help me pair up these. I just figured that rods and reels go together like pb&j.
  12. right, me to, thank goodness for help.
  13. Thank you all for your help. As you know I bought tackle from a yard sale. What I bought was 10 boxes combination of crankbaits, spinnerbaits, bass jigs, artificial bait (including many bags with the name Clatterbait on them) and other tackle (hooks, weights, etc. ) Since I am new to fishing with other things and not fishing with minnows, I have watched videos on youtube of Glenn and have enjoyed these videos. Here is another picture of the next 8, I am sure it will be identified like the other 8 but I wanted to make sure. For those interested I would post the pictures of the lures I bought that are identified. Keep in mind I paid $200 at a yard sale for all these.
  14. thank you very much for all your help.
  15. I just bought many crankbaits from a yard sale. I would like to learn to use these but I need help in identfying them so I can figure out what they are. Brand, Color, Shallow, Deep. These lures have no names on them but I have been told they are Rapala lures. Any help will be apprecited. I have 25 lures, but I will post a picture of the first 8 (if these can be identified the other 17 are from the same class). Thanks for you help.
  16. Thank you.
  17. Hello, I have always loved fishing but this year I have really tried to get into more and I have acquired some rods, reels, boat (needs work and a trailer) and some fishing tackle. I have watched many videos and am certain I am doing this wrong so I will search the forums for my answers and hopefully, I can learn more. I have some lures I bought at a yard sale and I am curious to what they are, which forum would I need to post in to get help in identifying these lures?
