  1. yes Henry feel free to PM me
  2. Hey guys its hunters dad yes it was a tough week weather was terrible on the water. I fished co angler side of FLW rayovac. Got a bad draw on Thursday rookie couldn't decide if he wanted to fish deep shallow or in between ended up with both zeroing thursday. Friday was canceled but full field fished Saturday. I got a much better draw and was able to bring in 12lb 5oz to get a check. Rattle traps and square bill crankbaits accounted for most of the fish. there were some jig fish deep, and I even saw a guy catch at least on on a drop shot in front of the harvey creek boat ramp. Water temp dropped 8 degrees from Thursday to Saturday but had climed from 42-44 back to around 48-51 , but with new system coming in temps are gonna plunge again. Hopefully the predicted warming trend will occur this week and turn the bite on for the High school tournament. Gator I'll look for you this weekend Good luck to the High school anglers.
  3. Henry No we have not been on the lake in a couple of weeks hopefully will get out Sunday to practice. The fishing from the reports I have heard is best right now above the 147 bridge around the jkacklson hill area. There were 2 tournaments this weekend Bass champs and Rattle trap it took 23lb to win bass champs and 20lbs to win rattle trap. But for most of us the fishing has been a lot tougher than that. rattle traps and red eye shad are catching fish, but there are suspended smaller fish in deep water that are taking drop shots too. Its hard to find a good pattern with the variable weather patterns right now. If the weather settles down and we get some warming before the tournament they could be going into prespawn and moving shallow, but still several days before the tournament. and yes Hunter and his partner will be fishing and I will be the boat capt. for them, Not sure I'll be much help to them though.
  4. Im Hunters boat captain also, were from the Jasper High team, and to answer txgator's question. the tournament is going out of the Humphery pavillion it will be a trailering tournament they are not doing prelaunch boat checks this time. The start and stop times haven't been posted on the web site yet I think but will be up this week I suspect. I can't get the link to work so just copy and paste the address below it will take you to the homepage. Also there are some new liability forms that all fisherman and boat captains have to complete before the tournament those are located on the home page via a link. as for info it took 20 lbs to win the Rattle Trap tournament Sunday. setxhighschoolfishing.com
  5. Well its been quite on here must be several tournaments coming up (or maybe the weather) Well I'm getting ready for my first high school tournament this month (Dec 14). So we went out yesterday to the mid lake area (caney to 147) . it wasn't as cold as it has been but still a cold ride yesterday morning. Fishing was slow for us had 3 small ones on Rattle trap. we did graph fish and shad in the creek channels in 25 to 30 foot of water, but couldn't get them to hit a spoon or jig. we did not get a soft plastic bite at all. water temp was 56.6 warming to 58.0 by 3pm, but weather forecast says more rain and cold weather probably going to be closer to 50 by the weekend. Anyone else braving the weather to try their luck.
  6. Shaneus yes Hunter and I will be on Rayburn this weekend practicing
  7. Good afternoon everyone This is Hunter's father he has not been on the forum for several days as he was required to not cotact anyone for the week before his tournament, and has been busy with school since. We had a tough tournament. First off let me say the information of depth and color and fishing advice you provided to hunter was on the money, using this info we located the winning fish in Hurricane creek sadly hunter did not catch them there were several other tournament boats on the fish as well and for some reason we could not get bit on Sunday we watched fish being caught around us but he only caught 9 short fish. It was disapointing to say the least. Hunter handled it well he kept his head up and never quit trying (he did a lot better than me) I do want to thank everyone on the forum for their help and advice, and to anyone new let me advise you to read this forum as these guys do know what they are talking about. Now I guess I better get on the rayburn page now as we are fishing there next weekend in our team championship (yea I get to fish in this one daddy's happy) if it contains half of what this one does it will be invaluable Thanks again .
  8. Wow homework on the first day of school give me a break lol. all done now. Mr.Shaneus, & Mr. ***atic thanks for the report. I'm passing them along to dad for friday. our worm bite has been slow so hope the report helps narrow down the pattern. were you fishing at night or during the day?
  9. well have to put down my rod this week I'm off to my first day in 7th grade today (id rather be fishing lol) Wow shaneus thats cool wished i could catch one that big, were they in catt's magic depth range 15' +- 3' were going back this weekend can't wait. My dad gets to fish friday but alone because of school but i'll be there Sat, Sun and Mon.
  10. Thanks for the help on here. Dad and I got to fish 2 days. Still mostly got little ones, but did get one keeper up the lake and dad got a 4 pounder. I still have some time before dead water so I get to go practice some more. There just wasn't a top water bite and the wind made it tough but i am not givng up.
  11. Thank you sir I'm gonna give it a good try at daylight in the morning dad says its going to be cooler than normal wonder what that will do maybe make the topwater bite better.
  12. Alright, dad has the boat ready and i got my poles all rigged out and I can't wait until Friday to try all this at Toledo. Thanks for all the help and I will write back when we get back home this weekend.
  13. thanks for the help I'll show my dad and we'll try it.
  14. ok thanks we flipped jigs yesterday but didn't catch any that way. we also tried frogs and top waters early but only had little ones striking. were going back this weekend and try Texas rig, carolina rig and senko's closer in to the visible grass. I also wondered about square bill crankbaits or wacky worms around the edge of the hybrilla mats.
  15. the tournament is the weekend after labor day it will probably still be pretty warm. were going out of fin and feather, my dad says he would rather not have to run a long way up the lake, but when he used to fish toledo 20 years ago that was where the winning weights came from . this is the championship and I qualified for it last year on Rayburn and only came in fouth I would really like to do better this year.
  16. yes will be 13 in a few months but have been fishing tournaments since I was 9 with my dad (team tournaments) take a look at ignition bass Youth fishing league web site or my mom has a facebook for me its hunter martindale at facebook i think. Should I throw those around the grass or brush?
  17. Wow unbelieveable amount of info in this thread. I have only been on toledo once in the last two years but will be spending a lot of time there the next month. I have a tournament there in September for the youth championship (minor league) My dad and I came there this weekend and looked around Hurricane and indian mounds. We had trouble finding Hydrilla much deeper than 17 or 18 feet and didn't get a lot of bites in the shallower grass. We did see a lot of small schooling fish but nothing keeper size. I really like to filp jigs, and hope that will work, but not sure what to look for to flip to or if I should throw crankibaits around the shad, Thanks for the info I have learned a lot reading this site.
