  1. Consequences of the NE opiate crisis unfortunately
  2. Anyone fish this body of water? Looking to take a trip there later this summer. Any advice for canoeing camping there?
  3. Glad to see this thread still alive. Havent been on the water much last 2 seasons but plan to fish a lot more this summer.
  4. Maine, are you aware of any algae blooms up there right now? Also, you've been quiet on the boards this summer. Miss seeing all your monster fish.
  5. How often you fish there? is there algae there now?
  6. I'm heading to Lake Carmi next week for a few days of fishing. Any advice for this body of water?
  7. Thanks Bob. I'm living down in Boston now so haven't ventured up that way yet this year. Looking forward to spending some time up in the Granite State.
  8. Question for you NH folks - does anyone know if the Mendum Pond d**n has been repaired? They drained the Lake in 2015 but haven't heard any recent updates.
  9. so I no longer have any lead in my arsenal, but this law may not hold up, due to Trumps reversing all the environmental protections signed by previous administrations - see his change on lead ammunition. I hate to get political on a fishing board, but I hope people realize these these local laws and ordinances will be challenged at the federal level and will allow individuals and companies, to more easily dump pollutants into our waterways. i'm just thankful we live in a part of the country that values clean water and air more than personal profit - see most states in the Southeast. also, keep in mind, congress wants to sell off our public lands for $. This could easily happen in NH, ME, and VT. We could lose access to many lakes and ponds by selling off these lands. if you care about your local fishing and hunting spots, I hope you inform your congressmen of your concerns.
  10. I'll be at Lake Sunapee this weekend. Never fished the lake before. Will most likely be in a Kayak. Any tips for fishing this lake?
  11. Hitting the Quabbin on Saturday. Was wondering if anyone's fished the reservoir recently. How's the smallie bite?
  12. Haven't been up there this year, but Jenness is one of my favorite places to fish in NH - perfect sized lake for Kayak fishing. It was a quick drive for me from downtown Portsmouth, and I'd hardly ever see people fishing there. Although, I know there are bass all over that that pond, I've caught my biggest large mouth on the Northeastern part of the lake. There are a few deep holes that have always produced well for me on that side. Dont be afraid of the shallow water and rocks on the southern side. Ive seen many good sized bass pulled out of those rocks the past few seasons. Good luck!
  13. thanks again fellas. this should keep me busy for the next few months. Made my first cast of the season today. felt great to be out there again!!
  14. Thanks buddy! will check these out for sure.
  15. Thanks for the info. i took a ride over to Horn Pond on my lunch break today. looked like a decent spot. I've heard good things about Spot Pond as well.
  16. Much appreciated. I'm working in Burlington. Stopped by Horn Pond in Woburn today on my lunch break. Looked like a promising spot.
  17. Can anyone recommend some good ponds with shore fishing near Burlington, MA? I'm now working down here and just looking for a few spots to hit on my lunch break or after work.
  18. Due to a new job an moving to the Boston area, I didn't get out as much as I like last year. I'll be hitting the Quabbin on Saturday for opening day. Looking forward to some sizable Smallies and some Lake Trout. Good luck to everyone this year.
  19. So does anyone know a guide on Winnipesaukee that they recommend, that might be available Friday? I'm heading up there last minute with a buddy and was looking to get out on a boat. Worst case we'll rent some kayaks but I appreciate anyones help.
  20. Well I'm no biologist, but I'm sure all populations of fish will suffer due to this. I more feel for the people who own homes and recreate there during the warm months. I guess its good that they are trying to conserve an old dam, but the pond is no longer aesthetically pleasing. Looks depressing.
  21. This really sucks. I fished Medum quite often when I was living in Portmsouth. Such a nice clean pond, and always decent fishing. Hopefully, they can repair than dam quicker than expected and get this place back to normal. Do you know how long the pond will be drained for?
  22. My only advice is enjoy your time there. It's an amazing place. I caught many smallies to the east of the NH state park - lots of top water action even in the heat of the summer. Caught a few in the 3 lb range. There are Pike in there but never fished for them. the lake is very big so you'll be limited in your canoe. Oh and make sure to stop at LL Cote's in Errol. Great place with everythitng you need for camping and fishing.
  23. So I'm thinking of selling my Nucanoe and upgrading to a Bass boat. I have a 2 yr old 12' NuCanoe Frontier, with a bunch of accessories - 2 seats (one pedestal) 2 carbon fiber oars, anchor trolly, LED light, and a few other items. I dont want to list a price as I'm open to negotiations, but if you're familiar with NuCanoe then you know a new ones can get a little pricey with all the bells and whistles. That being said I would definitly part with the boat for a reasonable price. PM me for pics or other questions. Oh, I live in the Merrimack Valley area if people are wondering where the boat is located.
  24. I stayed at the State Park last summer. The Rangers were very nice and very accomodating - we didnt have a reservation and the park was full, but they made space for us. As far as State Parks go, this was one of the nicer ones I've been to in NH. Oh, and the fishing was slow, but it was hot, and we stayed pretty close to the park. We did catch several nice smallies on our last day late in the afternoon.
