  1. I'm not mechanically inclined so I just carry a few basic tools. Instead, I bought a BoatUS membership that covers both over the road trailering and on the water breakdowns. Figured it was the best way to get me home, to a repair shop or back to the dock.
  2. I'd opt for Anna over Pelham. I live in the neighborhood adjacent to Pelham and it is a body of water I haven't put the time in to figure out. It is electric only and a permit is needed for the boat as well as the angler that is obtained through the town. The new ramp off 522 is much improved over the one off Mt Run Rd but is very shallow. There are some nice bass caught as well as crappie and catfish. As others have said Anna is a much bigger body and should start fishing much better and with less pleasure boat traffic. If your hauling a boat it's not worth all the hassles involved with permitting and electric only to fish Pelham.
  3. I really like the stability of a glass bass boat. Where are you located? I've got a boat / trailer with no engine looking for a home. It needs the transom repaired but would work great for what you are looking for. It's an old Bumble Bee and provides a solid fishing platform. If you or anyone else is interested PM me.
  4. Thanks for the help A-Jay. Our breaker was tripped. Reset and we are back in business.
  5. I keep mine in an old pillow case to protect the lens and store it in the back compartment behind my seat.
  6. Lot's of folks from VA on here. I'm from Culpeper also. Have been spending most of our trips on Anna lately but my son, also on here was on Pelham today. If you see a Red Stratos on Pelham it will be either my son or I.
  7. Culpeper. VA here. Still trying to figure out Lake Anna with my son.
  8. My son and I are considering fishing some tournaments this year with Shenandoah Valley Bass Association. They fish areas close to you and aren't as expensive as some. It's a team tournament so you'd have to find a partner. http://shenandoahbass.brinkster.net/index.html
  9. Sounds like a good time and the rotation makes the most sense to try and accommodate all. We are heading to Anna tomorrow....
  10. I hope to get to a stage in my life where I could choose. Right now I'm in the go when I can route and hope for the best.
  11. Welcome! What school do you attend? Lot's of options for you to explore.
  12. Lake Pelham (2500 acres) and Mt Run are two reservoirs as part of Culpeper's water supply. They are electric only and would be good options. Culpeper is about 40 miles south of Gainesville on rte. 29. You need a fishing permit and boat permit issued from the town of Culpeper if you fish these lakes. The permit can be purchased from the town office. If you have any questions feel free to PM me. Dave
  13. In years past I have used one while fishing some small ponds. I moved onto the inflatable pontoons and most recently a new to us (used) bass boat. I still have mine hanging in the garage. If you want to give one a shot I'll sell it to you cheap as I don't think I'll be using it with the new motorized boat. Dave
