  1. I do this a lot when I want to slow down the spinnerbait too. My only problem is every ten casts, the boot will get caught on the tip of the hook during the cast. Willow leaf trailer isn't a bad idea!
  2. Thanks everyone for the great responses.. I knew it wasn't the typical mounting style, but seemed the easiest way to tackle the problem.. The other issue is the steering will act funny with it that far off the centerline of the bow, from what I've read. I'm going to fish it this weekend and see how much of an issue it really is.. Then it may be time to rework the front end, we'll see.. Good thing plywood is cheap.
  3. Thanks for the tips but with the current plan - neither are really feasible. Because the foot control only goes from 0 degrees to 360 degrees, its most comfortable to have halfway be at 180 degrees (straight forward). If I rotate the shaft to where the cable is out of the way, I have to heel all the way down to toe all the way down to veer slight left vs slight right. Not ideal. Heres another picture with it in place and a couple more pieces of carpet. The picture doesn't really show the depth right, but it almost comes out to my knees. Its functional now, just not comfortable. Still, not quite enough room to not have the pedal cover up one of the hatches. Should have bought this thing before I started the framing & decking. I'm going to take it out Saturday for the first time and see how much it bothers me when I'm actually fishing and not being critical in the garage.
  4. Cut 12" off my trailer tongue to make it fit in the garage.. Have about +/- 2" so no way to get around it other than manuevering over the trailer at the bow end. Just gotta be real careful when I shut the garage door.
  5. Hi all, In the process of turning a 14' jon boat into a 'bass boat' - flat decks, etc.. I have a 55lb Minn-Kota Edge but in my testing, the 5' cable for the foot pedal is unmanageable in this small boat. It won't sit where I want it to. Nowhere that I can really bolt the pedal down to either. Has anyone ever cut the cable to shorten it? I'm looking to cut maybe 18" out of it.. You can see the base for the pedestal seat under the plastic. The motor will mount onto the aluminum angles.. Sorry, should've taken a new pic with it sitting on there tonight. But you can see I don't have a whole lot of room to work with a 5' cable. Thoughts?
  6. I use a Garmin 551dv and have not had an issue with it! I think this is "last years model" compared to what you are looking at. Seems like the price compared to Hummingbird and Lowrance, they seem to offer more features/specs. New kids on the block trying to make a name for themselves I suppose. If I was to buy another unit, it would definately be another Garmin.
  7. Not the power and lengths you want, but for what its worth: I have a 6'6 MH F Mojo.. I hate this rod. I'd sell it, but I'd feel bad for the next guy. Its my dedicated spinnerbait / chatterbait rod where I don't have to feel a fish bite my lure... Might as well attach a reel to a 2x4. I also have a 7'3 M F ***.. I love this rod. I'm probably going to buy a second one in the same weight. I bought it for treble hook lures (like you), but find myself throwing plastics on it as well. Great rods. Great customer service. I broke one this rod - my fault - high sticking it when bringing in that bass in my picture. They replaced the rod AND threw in a free hat. Just my two cents! Edit - you should feel an *** in your hands though.. the grip bothers some people. Doesn't bother me and I think I have pretty average hands.
  8. I got off my phone, grabbed my computer, and logged in just to tell you yes.

  10. Another +1 on the random jig pack. Got mine in the mail today. Looks like 4 3/8 oz and 2 1/4 oz jigs. A couple football heads, dredge head, hair jig, arky head, and swim jig. All the colors were ones that I would've bought and it looks like he matched a few to the Rage Menace's I bought on the same order. I think its officially time to stop carrying around any other brand of jigs I have!
  11. Jefferson has always been pretty productive for me. All the lily pads on the south end are pretty nice with a hollow belly frog too. Never caught anything big out of there, but there is fish there.
  12. Just recently moved to the St Louis area too- live near downtown and work downtown. For now, I'm stuck on the shore. There's a lot more wooded shoreline around here than I'm used to in KS. Been trying places like Unger, Simpson, and a few other places. If anyone ever needs a fishing partner, send me a message!
  13. Almost use his spinnerbaits exclusively. They are durable and well-built. They catch fish too! Can't beat them for the price- really excited to see Colorado blades being offered as well. If you do an order from him, pick up a Fogy as well. Great bait, tons of action. I use it when a spinnerbait is too bulky/flashy.
  14. Buy more lures to find the one that works?
  15. You guys have got to be kidding. Should have time this Thursday to make my first cast of the year at my favorite pond. No class that day
