  1. I know ya'll are gonna think this is a joke or something, but sometimes I tie a trap onto my cheapest rod/reel setup when I don't need a crankbait that day, and that Shimano Caenan will ZING a trap, 7' crankin stick from BPS. Absolutely slings them, and that reel winches in some fish pretty well. I do think my Curado 50e throws further though, my longest casting setup period is my Curado 200E7 with 7' MH rod, always keep a jig tied on that, 17-20lb fluoro once the Georgia sun decides to get really hot, 65lb braid from late fall to early summer. I like braid in the winter because I find myself throwing into more structure and pulling fish through more crap. If anyone was curious.
  2. I like fishing a jitterbug, sometimes frogs depending on where, a fluke works at night believe it or not, also buzzbaits, POP-R's and Rat-L-Traps. Any big black soft plastics will get it done at night too. One lethal night lure is the Strike Zone night bite spinnerbait.
  3. Well I'm a member at some pretty upscale courses and clubs here, and you can bet that I wear my Chubbies when I golf, or feel like having a relaxing late evening putting session. Only complaint I've received is from the restaurant manager, all the bartenders are distracted by them, and I believe a cart girl ran into a hazard from staring for too long.. Chicks dig 'em gents.
  4. Hand tied 3/8 oz jig w rage craw, in green or orangeish. 1/2oz red eye shad in a red or a blue chrome. 3/16 oz shaky head with pumpkin seed trick worm. Spro frog, color depends on time and lake. Super fluke in baby bass
  5. Look guys, if you want to wear Cargo Capris, admit that you wear Capris, and I will have no problem telling you that we can't be friends. SHORTS are supposed to be SHORT, I currently own 4 pairs of Chubbies shorts and I want to own at least 14 so I can wear them every day all summer and not repeat colors until every other week. I tuck my PFG's into these shorts too, and these are proven to allow you to cast further and set the hook harder. Like I said, these are real shorts, I'm a proud supporter of the Cargo Embargo.
  6. Ever felt like your shorts are funding communism? Well they just might be. Ever feel like your cargos are making you look un-American, well they are. Ever feel like you can't get down like you could in the 80's? You forgot your shorts in the 80's. That's the problem. Good news fishermen, the shorts of the 80's are back, even though you can't buy the hair you had in the 80's, you can buy the shorts. http://www.chubbiesshorts.com/ You're welcome.
  7. Don't mean to get this thread going again, but I've had some outlook changes in my life, and one of those was on putting something in my mouth that could kill me. I quit January 5th and haven't touched it since, the Grinds are awesome, recommend to anyone trying to quit, I don't use those a lot but they are nice on the water and the caffeine will definitely wake you up some in the morning without making you ****. Recently saw my dentist and he said I have one of the healthiest mouths he sees in my age group and overall, and he was glad I decided to quit. No cravings nor urges to buy the stuff anymore, I usually am the one to buy it without being ID'd for my buddies and even buying it doesn't make me want it. Good luck to anyone trying to quit.
  8. From the bank in the longer casting scenarios. Jigs don't do much from the bank for me.
  9. I understand it's off topic, but fishing a spro popping frog is extremely fun this time of year.
  10. Dodge guy, because of that font I'm starting to think you're weird even though your posts are normal. A red cursive font on a message board? Really? Last time I used any special font was in 7th grade. I like 65lb PP for jigs, and heavier spinnerbaits. I use a 6ft long 20lb fluoro leader. If I'm fishing a frog it's straight braid.
  11. If you want in store jigs. Go booyah. They hold up better and look better than strike king jigs. The only strike king jig I really like is the finesse football.
  12. I caught a 3-4lb pickerel on an ultralight with 4lb mono once. It was interesting. Sad to say that was back when I hated pickerel and I killed him. Feel bad now.

Why not. An AR-15 is the most versatile rifle in the world. And as a precaution for dove ducks or turkey of course.

  17. I'm gonna have to target them this winter. I missed one on a craw jig which was pretty cool, he picked it up but the hook set pulled it out of his mouth.
  18. Well I used to hate the toothy fish in my private community lake, and my dad raised me to kill them, I know it's wrong after being corrected by people who know more than I about how the marine ecosystem works. I was fishing my little lake on a windy day in my Pelican Bass raider, wind was blowing me everywhere so I couldn't flip or pitch docks, which is my strength in fishing. I found a cove where the wind wasn't moving me around and started throwing a popper and making long slow retrieves trying to entice a bass, when all of the sudden an explosion occurs when I wasn't looking and my lure disappears, I set the hook pretty hard expecting a larger bass on the line, but when I got the fish to the boat it was a 14-16" pickerel looking meaner than hell with a mouthful of treble hooks. I was pretty frustrated at first, but realized that he was fun to catch, and saved me from a no fish day since I lost the only bass I hooked into at the boat. So I guess the toothy fish can be our friends sometimes, now only if I could target them. What do Pickerels like to bite? Hopefully it won't be my spro frogs because they're expensive haha.
  19. Reason I am using a longer leader right now is because I'm still learning how to tie a blood knot, and it's about a 50/50 pass fail rate with the knot, so the longer leader I have the more reties I get before I have to tie another leader. I practice tying new knots a couple days a week after work or school. I am biased to the palomar for everything and like the blood knot for Line to line, and use improved cinch knots for some applications.
  20. I decided to try 65lb pp on my jig rod, and using a blood knot have tied a 6' leader with 20lb fluoro. Yes it goes into the guides but doesn't interfere with the cast, is that ok?
  21. Switch to a 7'6" flipping stick with 65lb braid and a 3/8 oz jig and if you lose a fish on that you aren't setting the hook.
  22. My hooks are sharp, firm wrist flick to 2 o clock.
  23. Pouches are the easiest to dip.
  24. Haha I love my lazy buddy. He's a good dog.
