  1. I get out when I can, more often than not that's a couple hours in the afternoon. I used to get up early to fish on weekends but I never felt that I caught more in the morning so I sleep in now.
  2. I'm up in danvers now, there's a pond right up the street from me, good access once the water goes down some.
  3. Bait monkey hit me hard this week. Ordered a nrx 803s, shimano stella 2500 (jdm regular spool), and some megabass baits...
  4. Went to the pond near my house, got 5 little smallies and a small pickerel. All under a pound, but it was nice having the non stop action. All the bass off a black senko, almost all of them hit it on the fall. The pickerel I caught on a jerkbait
  5. Look at rei or any place that rents canoes/kayaks. I got a nice stolquist high back pfd for my kayak for 15$ used.
  6. Haven't been doing too much freshwater lately. I've been hitting the beaches a lot and striking out. I'm determined to catch some nice stripers and blues, just have to put in my time.
  7. Everything with a single hook from weightless worms to jigs. Spinning reels don't get backlashes, that rod can probably throw whatever you want it to.
  8. Went out after work today. The wind was something else today, but we stuck through it and ended up catching about 6 fish total, all of them off a senko worked slower than slow. I usually hit this place with a guy I used to work with, hes retired now, and without fail he always out fishes me. It's always good to go fishibg with someone who's better than you, makes me a better every time we go out.
  9. I have a patriarch 35 and a xt 30. Both are great reels. I like the xt better, i think it's only because it's smaller.
  10. Does anyone use an NRX 803s. I'm looking to dip my toes in the g loomis pool and want a good all around spinner. As of right now I have a 6'8 mxf avid and a 6'6 mf avid, I'm looking for a rod closer to the mf. I will be throwing everything from weightless trick worms to half oz cast masters. Also how fast is the loomis xf.
  11. Went out Friday after work, got one small bass, one decent bass, and lost a fatty twice. Hit the beach Sunday night for striper and struck out.
  12. I like the project z, but I can't see why it's almost double the cost of the original (8$ vs 5$) I've never had an original fail on me and in the future I'll probably just buy the original
  13. 1. Get a black and blue chatterbait 2. Put a rage tail menace on it 3. Reel it in as so as possible while making it "chatter" 4. Catch big bass
  14. Give me a medium spinning rod and some trick worms and I'll be happy
  15. Went out for an hour or so last night, managed to get one little smallie on a trick worm.
  16. I see where you're coming from. I could honestly do 90% of the fishing I do with one rod.
  17. Gooseberry zoom trick worm Black and blue chatterbait with rage tail menace trailer Custom painted perch 2.5 squarebill. I rarely throw anything else, makes me wonder why I have so much tackle
  18. I use a 6'9 klx mh mod fast and an alx deputy 7'1 mh fast. The deputy has more power but is still on the slower side of a "fast" rod. The klx is a soft rod, but when you get into a fish You'll feel the power. I like both but prefer the deputy for chatterbaits, but the klx is a much nicer build. Just a few other rods to look at, I'd highly recommend both.
  19. I haven't used an ultimate, but I've paddled a friend's slayer and the native seats are top notch. Ask the guy if you can test it out. The only thing about the ultimate that would be a problem for me is that the deck Doesn't look flat, I have the same problem in my ride. Yes I can still stand on the deck but I'd rather it be completely flat. Also to add onto my previous post about seats make sure you buy a pfd with a high back.
  20. Not a swimbait, but I use the rage tail menace more than anything else for a chatterbait trailer
  21. Hands down the most important part of the kayak is the seat. I don't care how long it is, how stable it is, how many rod holders it has, if you're not comfortable in the seat you're not going to be out on the water very long.
  22. I'd rather catch a pike than a bass
  23. What kind of rod and reel do you have. I use a 9 footer and a 10 footer, rated 1/2-3 and 2-4 respectively. I usually throw sp minnows and bucktails. I'm no pro surf fisherman, but in general look for birds. Where there's birds there's bait, and where there's bait there's fish. I'm not familiar with cape beaches, I haven't been down there in years, but by September the bite might be hot again.
  24. Forget fresh water, chase some striper and blues!!
  25. Been real busy the last few months, hardly had any time to fish. Finally got the kayak out today, caught a small bass some perch and a nice sunburn on my legs. Don't forget sunscreen
